Last fall when the election was going on, there were spirited debates with plenty of people on both sides of the issues,I just seem to remember heels and me being 2 lonely conservatives lost in an oasis of liberals and being called idiots. I have definitely always thought this to be a very left-leaning board until the past few months when it has seemed more balanced.I love that it's balanced, and i respect anybody's opnions until they start going off on rants about:1) zomg fox news lies but the other major stations tell the TRUTH!2) gays shouldn't be allowed to marry because God says being gay is a sin. Umm, he also says murdering is a sin, but there is no law banning murderers getting married! wasn't it bundy who got married in prison? 3) i am so smart and politically savvy but i would NEVER go to an event and be surrounded by ______ (the other side) and listen to what they believe.4) People who believe ___ or voted for ____ are IDIOTS!5) If you didn't vote for Obama you are racist.

Sarah, I kind of find there are people on the board who are liberal that will say things like, "you are just dumb if you liked W or if you hate Obama or if you don't agree in national healthcare." I don't necessarily find the conservatives saying blanket statements like that as often (although it does happen). Obviously it is not every liberal on here, but it does seem to happen.Of course, the full disclosure is that I am a conservative soooo I am probably just being a biased bittch

Actually, that's why heels created this siggy badge for me. Because we always joked about how we were the 2 lone conservatives who were not afraid to battle on here. I figured I'd get shiit for it but never did. I was pleasantly surprised. So thanks, ladies. :)For the record, I have more respect for people who disagree with me and can have an intelligent debate with me than people who agree with me but can't tell me why.

When we were doing the whole picking dress process, I found a bunch of different styles that I liked that I knew she would also like and gave them all to her and that's the one that she chose. Which made me happy because I liked that one the best and could totally see her in it. I feel like she could wear it again..not just for the wedding. I hope she does wear it to the grocery store.

I think that it is common for young liberals to feel like they must be in a group of like-minded people if they are in a large group of people who are also pretty young, because it is common for youths to be left-leaning. Therefore, it's probably more common for garden-variety liberals to make those kinds of statements.However, just look at how many people have identified as conservatives in this thread. It was the same thing last year too. I don't remember everyone who was conservative, but ZAngel was definitely one and she posted a lot. I know I backed out of a lot of things because I was surprised at a lot of the views people had.But anyway, just sayin. Y'all don't need to feel put-upon.

I'm more of a liberal, but I'll have a spirited discussion with anyone provided it's a decent debate.  Once people start throwing out the generalizations, mudslinging tactics and political camp stereotypes, I tune out.  I'm on the more liberal side of the spectrum, but I have my conservative moments, and can see both sides of an argument.  I prefer to discuss with people who can also see both sides of an issue clearly.

Oh for sure, I'll make us bracelets and we can coordinate matching outfits . I haven't been around as much because works has been crazy busy, but I think it's starting to slow down. At least for a couple days anyway! Oh and since we're turning this into a lovefest, your H is such a stud, and you guys are the cutest couple ever.

Conservatives take a little longer to come out of the woodwork because sometimes there is such a kneejerk negative reaction to the idea of conservatives. Like without even listening to specific viewpoints or reasoning, when you say you're a conservative or Republican, you often just get an overarching "how COULD you!" type reaction. TJ, i agree with that. The reaction is often from the bunch who think that politics are all about gay marriage and abortion and don't pay attention to the other issues out there and don't realize that many conservatives ARE socially liberal.And Salt, I really like the dress and am impressed with your photoshop skills on the picture.
