I also thought it was interesting that all the talk about a woman Dem was that she'd have to prove she could be tough. But then the Rep woman got to complain left, right and center about ppl (the media) being mean to her.My finger is itching towards the block button.Yeah really, and we were having such a nice discussion, too.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

My only wish is that people would stop saying that a socialist is a Nazi.  No, a Nazi is a fascist.  In fact socialism =/= communism. If you are going to say it loud, just say it right.  That goes for all sides...

And honestly, I found it offensive as a woman that apparently all the Rep party thought it had to do go compete against an AA man was get a woman - any woman. I fully agree with this. And she really was just any woman. They definitely did not do enough research before picking her. I think she had a very large part in McCain's loss.

I'm not a random poster, just new to your discussion. My point was that if a party allows itself to be defined by its extremist, it loses control of its message.  I get that there are McCain conservatives and SarahSmile conservatives, and separately religious conservatives, but if you let the more reasonable sounding ones be shouted down by people who just showed up at a rally b/c they legitimately think they are in a "Tea Party" situation and don't realize that this is a republic in which we vote for our elected officials, then they vote on legislation, and that's how it's worked since our inception and that doesn't mean their vote doesn't count (i.e. the real Tea Party participants), then your message gets lost.

Actually, I personally prefer Palin to McCain and think she is more qualified to lead this country than Obama is. But, to each her own!

(Not that I loved any of them. I was a Romney supporter and did not like ANY of the options we were left with on either side.)

Teabaggers, really? It was/is Tea Party protesters portesting tax increases. That is what our county is about, fighting for what you believe in and not backing down. How about you quit using a MSNBC reference mmmkay?

carrie, can you not see it from the other side?Do you not see that liberals allow themselves to be defined by the unrealistic, let's all love one another hippies, the uber-yuppie all organic wipe their butts with pinecones environmentalists and arrogant "if you do not think the way I do, you most certainly are an ignorant redneck" snobs? It's equally hard to take liberals seriously at times, as well, you know.

I was actually planning on voting McCain until he picked her. All I could think about was how he might make a great president, but if something were to happen to him, the thought of her running the country scared me. If they had let her get more experience as a governor and maybe as senate or congresswoman, then put her up as VP, I would have been more likely to not let it sway my vote so quickly.

My point was that if a party allows itself to be defined by its extremist,Wait, so you think the Republican party wants to be defined by its extremists?  You don't think that maybe, oh, I don't know, the liberal media portrays them that way?  You do realize that not everything you see on the news can be taken at face value, right?

I personally prefer Palin to McCain and think she is more qualified to lead this country than Obama is.This surprises and scares me at the same time.  It always startles me to find people who think Palin is credible.  She is such a polarizing figure.  She was not ready for the national stage as a viable candidate. There were better choices McCain could have made.

Carrie,Maybe you should try figuring out what exactly the Tax Day TEA parties were about.  I think you have absolutely no clue.  It sounds like you're only getting your information about them from the liberal media, so of course you'd have no idea what we were protesting.

The original Tea Party was protesting paying tax on tea when they had no say in the Parliament.  No taxation without representation.  It is a subtle difference to "don't raise my taxes."I think that was her point.

If you really care to find out what they are like, why don't you go to one and check it out? Then you can come back and report to us about whether or not they are crazies. FYI, our elected officials are ignoring what the majority of this country wants which is why the tea parties exist. Peaceful protest. I'd also support peaceful protest against issues in which I believe. It's great when people take a stand for their beliefs. It's better than sitting on your sofa and complaining.

This surprises and scares me at the same time. It always startles me to find people who think Palin is credible. She is such a polarizing figure. She was not ready for the national stage as a viable candidate. There were better choices McCain could have made. And you REALLY believe Obama, who had NO executive experience whatsoever, is the best party the Democrats could come up with? THAT scares ME. Republicans admit that Palin is a polarizing figure. I don't understand why Democrats won't admit that Obama is an equally polarizing figure.

At LEAST Palin was a governor, Obama entered Politics in 2005 - hardly qualified by any means
