Show yourselves!

Re: Show yourselves!

• Agreed, the comment had little relevance to the other comments posted in the conversation.
• I like how this conversation was going well and everyone was saying they love a good debate, until one actually started with Carrie's comment. The only person I see that is name calling is Sarah, with her "random poster" (which I know isn't technically anything bad but was definitely used in this context to make Carrie feel inferior) and ignorant, even mentioning going so far as blocking Carrie. Awfully defensive I would say.

• if that's what you want to see. whatever floats your boat.
• just thought i'd help you out, since you seem a little lost. this was the first finger-pointing, name calling, antagonistic comment in this thread. you do realize that this is OFFENSIVE to people in this thread who attended tea parties, right? you do see WHY people in this thread would be put on the defensive when everybody had previously been playing nice, right? if i dismissed everything you believed as a "party of crazies," would you be a little defensive?Honestly, I think the conservatives have let the crazies take over their political party. It's hard to take a party seriously when it allows itself to be defined by teabaggers, ppl who actually think our President is a socialist, and birthers.
• It's way late, and this thread is dead, but I just wanted to try to respond anyways. Lame, but I can't help myself - " if i dismissed everything you believed as a "party of crazies," would you be a little defensive?" Sarah - I didn't actually say it was a party of crazies. I said the party was letting itself be taken over by them. You may not see a distinction there, but I did intend one. The point being, the party hasn't always been that way (Reagan), and certainly doesn't have to be in the future (Pawlenty?). I guess I'm surprised to hear you say that the Rep party is everything you believe in b/c I could have sworn you said above that you are fiscally conservative and that you're not a religious/social conservative, and that you support gay marriage and abortion at least isn't your motivating issue. Those are pretty important parts of the Rep party platform that you don't seem to subscribe to. So it sounded like the party itself wasn't everything you believe. Based on that I concluded that you distinguished between being a conservative and being in line with the Rep party as it is now. I think like this about the Dem party. I vote that way often, but it's not everything I believe in, and I don't take offense if people say that it's taken directions that I don't support.
• And that is why I register as neither republican or democrat. When it gets down to the fundamental issues, I lean left, but the dems do so many things I disagree with, and quite honestly, there is some awesome republicans out there in office. I disagree with most party lines, and feel that who I vote for shouldn't be who everyone in my party thinks I should vote for. I hate that mentality.
• if i dismissed everything you believed as a "party of crazies," would you be a little defensive?Of course I would. But I didn't see anyone in this thread calling Republicans a party of crazies. Like Carrie said, there are crazies in the Republican party, but that is true of any political party. And of course an opposing party would focus on the crazies because that makes good news.None of that has anything to do with the fact that you fell apart when someone came on here and opposed your beliefs.

• I just wanted to follow up and tell you, Carrie, you did do it again (said something stupid and then followed up with stuff that makes good sense). Just stop coming on so agressive and silly! ...unless you like the drama that leads up to you doing some durn good explaining, that is ;) Being inflammatory is really just going to get you no where on this board of intelligent ladies, you know? I am glad to see you stuck it out. I like that you are plucky.
• oh carebear. you are not even making sense. with all of the people here pointing out that carrie was beinig ignorant, you come in here and attack me. are you her AE? it makes me laugh. and it makes me wonder if you actually agree with the absurd statement that the ladies here who attended tea parties are "what's wrong with the Rep party." if so, you should be ashamed. i'm proud of them for standing up for what they belive in and being active.I guess I'm surprised to hear you say that the Rep party is everything you believe inand, once again, carrie has reading comprehension fail. at what point did you stop realizing i was referring to the conservatives in this thread and not JUST ME? if you want to quit with the ignorant blanket statements about conservatives, that would be great. thanks!i don't always agree with the Republican party. i consider myself to be more of a Libertatian, especially after Bush's excessive spending. but i will always speak up if i feel any party is being grossly misinterpreted and generalized as was the case in this thread.Sarah - I didn't actually say it was a party of crazies. I said the party was letting itself be taken over by them. You may not see a distinction there, but I did intend one.I do not see enough distinction here for me to consider your comment to be clever, intelligent, or accurate. i could say that about any party. extremists are crazy. period. but if you cannot distinguish between conservative americans and the crazy people shown on loop on msnbc, then this conversation really isn't going anywhere. i am politically involved and have encountered very few of those "crazies" they show on tv. i have encountered as many crazy liberals, independants, and ignorants as i have crazy conservatives.
