Yep. It's early, but Morning!

I'm still sick. Have grapefruits in my throat (feels like) and am trying to figure out how to get rid of it-- all while not leaving the house. Hrm. Tricky.

So. In other news. Missy appears to have GBCK'd last night in the morning thread. Hope that girl gets the serious help she needs.

What are your plans for the day?

Re: Yep. It's early, but Morning!

  • Morning. I hope the day goes by fast, since I am driving home to my mom's this afternoon. Already I worry about Whisky. H is perfectly capable of giving him his meds, but the momma in me still worries. I need to get over that.

Other than that, nothing interesting going on here. The highlight of my day will be trying out my new headphones. My old ones were starting to crackle and it was really annoying.
  • Good morning! I'm sorry your sick snips! Jocelyn woke up sick AGAIN! I'm so frustrated. So I'm staying home from work and will take her to the doctor later. Her throat and glands are so swollen.
  • Man, that sucks Stacks.  Little carrier monkeys! Do you think she needs her tonsils out?

Lucy barfed up the weirdest thing this morning.  I have NO clue what it was or where she got it from. It was like... 3" by 4" (!!), tough like leather, about 2cm thick and had raised squares on it.  I can think of NOTHING in our house that matches that description. I'm glad she brought it up, but DAMN.
  • Good morning!  Wow, everyone's sick today :(  No good.  I hope you all (and J) feel better!

I'm sorry Missy GBCK'd in that fashion, but I'm hoping she realizes that she needs some help and stops thinking that it's just people not understanding her position.

H left at 4:30 AM for work.  It's weird waking up and finding him not here.  He's working 5 AM - 9 PM tonight (shudder) and I'm on my own for dinner.  I have a ton of knitting and wrapping to do today.  Plus I gotta make fudge.

Oh yeah.  After work.  I wish I could just take a personal day and stay home to knit, wrap, and cook.  That would be heaven.

  • Ew. That sounds like utter hell Bay. I hope he has the next day off.
  • Snippy -- we wish!  Tomorrow he works 8 - 8.  Then Saturday - Tuesday he's back at the hospital from 7 AM - 3 PM.

He's planning on quitting the hospital as soon as he is sure that he's going to be getting at least 38 hours a week from the EMT job and when he is able to file for insurance, which will be in January.  I'm so nervous he's going to burn out.  But he says he can handle it.  He loves the EMT job so that's something at least.

  • Wow Bay, that's a really long time to be at work, I could never do that. I'm exhausted enough when I'm out at school/doing school stuff from 7:30-7 one day a week and some of that is down time.

I'm really tire right now and it's basically pouring out.  It's been like this since Tuesday and I'm sick of coming home like a sopping wet dog and then showering and still feeling cold for another hour. I got sick around this time last year, better not happen again!
  • She is so excited about Christmas! It's going to be a really fun year watching her. Bay that's a crazy busy schedule! I'm glad he really loves the emt position.

<div>I can't even imagine how fun that must be for you. I love the magical aspect of Christmas and when I taught Sunday School I loved how excited my kids were everyday and how willing they were to glue cotton balls togetherto make little snowmen to decorate their parent's trees. </div><div>

  • Good morning! I learned how to knit last night. The only problem is, when I mess up, I can't figure out how to fix it so I end up pulling the whole thing apart and starting over. Problem solving skills, I needs them.

In good news, that's pretty much how you fix knitting mistakes.  Eventually you'll also be able to only pull out a row or so and start from there.  There ARE ways to insert a stitch after the fact, but unless you're amazing, you can pretty much tell if you look at it closely.

And you're in VA - is it not WAY too cold here now?  Some creature got into our attic last night (probably because the temp dropped from 70 to 40) and I'm kinda patiently waiting until an acceptable hour to call pest control (it sounds way bigger than a mouse - that is NOT good.)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

I kind of figured at one point I wouldn't have to pull the whole thing apart, but when you're only 4-5 rows in it's just easier at that point. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

It was in the 70's here yesterday. We've had strange warm weather for a while now. That storm blew through last night and I think it's a bit chillier out now. I hope you get that little critter out of the attic. We once had a flying squirrel come down our chimney. That was good times.

  • WTF TK? WTH is my post in the middle of the thread? B&W I responded up there somewhere.

As for Missy. I gave her all the advice I could on the board directly or in PMs. All I can hope is that she takes what was said to her yesterday as a wakeup call and figures something out. It is not good to be that upset, depressed, sick, all.the.time.

  • Bay - Knitting is fun. I decided I wanted to start because I need something to do with my hands in the evening that isn't eating. It keeps my hands busy while watching TV so I'm not tempted to grab a snack from the kitchen. I've been bad about that lately so I decided I needed to do something or else I'm going to be derailed on the weightloss journey.

  • And now I look like I'm talking to myself and being a PW because all of my posts are right behind the previous one.

  • And now you ate my last post TK. It's a good thing I've got to go to work and will probably not be able to be around until later. Stupid TK IT. Get your shitt together please!!!!!!

  • I give up. TK has eaten my last two posts. If anyone can see this I'll be back sometime!

  • Emily -

It's the Feast of the Immaculate Conception today, so I assume that's the holiday you're off for.

    But lucky you!

  • Adorableness, Stacks.
  • She got in the car after preschool yesterday and said, "hey mommy we painted star ornaments for you but we still have to put on the glitter, it's a secret though so I can't tell you what it is". It was so funny when she realized she tOld me exactly what it was. So then she said well don't tell daddy I'll just give it to him.

  • Bay, that schedule sucks. I hope it gets better.

I just remembered that I get to decorate my mom's Christmas tree tonight. Yay! Her house needs some Christmas cheer and she can't do it herself since she's still on the mend from whatever was causing her breathing/lung obstructions (docs can't find the cause, but she's getting better so that's good).

Also, the radio is annoying. Don't the two local Christmas stations know that when one is on a commercial break, the other should be playing music, not play commercials at the same time? Work together, stations.
  • Birde - both at my old job and my new one EAP is available to all employees regardless if they have the companies health insurance or not.    EAP is more than just seeing a counselor, you can get legal advice among other things.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Good morning!

Rosie, are you and I cycling together?  I feel so bloated, it's like there's a grapefruit in my uterus.  Yuck.

I'm sorry that Missy GBCKed too.  I think some people do need time away from TK to work on their lives, but it's important that they aren't running away from us but rather taking time off to work on themselves.  I hope she chose the latter.
  • YAY, MK!  I love knitting.  It becomes addictive. Soon you'll learn how to un-knit to the mistake and pick it up.  But it is so much fun, isn't it?

  • I don't know Mica. Seemed like she was blaming us for the bad stuff and *that's* why she was leaving. Which is ridiculous. We've all given her so much support over the years.  I said year in response to her yesterday, but it's really been much longer than that.

Oh! And guess what I got in the mail yesterday?? TWO MORE CHRISTMAS CARDS!!

One from our adorable Mica, and the other from Emily! :D THANKS LADIES!!
  • I love knitting too, although I'm sort of stuck on just making scarves or other things that are rectangles, not a useful skill in FL.  I can crochet too, and I can make baby hats that way, so it's a tiny bit more useful.

Sesh -- I agree that radio stations need to stop going to commercial break at the same time (and that time usually coincides with when NPR is running a boring/annoying story).

Snippy -- it's too bad about Missy.  I sort of wish I had been there, but I don't know if my presence would have changed anything.  Oh, and I'm glad you got the postcard!
