Nope....we are about 30-40 mins outside of Boston.  Kinda close to NH actually.
• Haha leisel that's funny because my moms friend, who I have only met once before, told me that exact thing today. She kept saying I was an old soul.
J that's so sad.  Did you decide what to get for your friend?  The ornament?
Posted by edielaura
Yes, I found an angel wing ornament (the mom likes angel wings) that's engraveable.  I'm putting his name, a line from a lullaby they sang him every night when she was pregnant and when he was alive that's also on his headstone, and his birthday.  They already have a tree they planted in his name, and I liked the plant idea, but they're moving soon, so maybe another time!

My mom has always told me this too. Except I think that when she says "old soul" she really means "boring." Mom is really energetic and social and outgoing, so she's never really understood my homebodiness and preference to watch/observe than join.
• MuSu - I've always enjoying spending time with people older than me too.  Glad you had a good day.
• J, that sounds very, very nice. I am sure it will be appreciated.

• J, that's a really sweet gift. I'm sure they'll love it.
• That sounds really lovely J.  I'm sure it will mean a lot to them.

You will have to let me know when you come out!  We can meet up for a drink...I am pretty close to there :)
• Haha Sesh I prefer to think of having an old soul as cooler than boring. But you might be right. J, that sounds like an amazing gift. It made me feel all teary for them and how sweet it is.
image
• J, I like that gift a lot.

I was never told that I was an old soul but I've always been told I'm very mother like/nurturing. When I was 2 I told mom that my newborn brother was my baby and insisted on feeding him.
• Last Christmas everything was still really fresh and they didn't celebrate at all.  No gifts, no travel, no tree, no Christmas dinner, nothing.  So I think it will be nice for them to have something for this Christmas.  I feel a little weird sending a Christmas ornament in October, but whatever.

Wait, I think I do this.  Can I be an old soul too?  And not just a socially awkward only child that didn't hang out with enough kids when I was little?

<div>I think you definitely qualify, J. And since I am chronologically old as well as having been told I have an old soul, methinks that entitles me to nominate you for membership. Can I get a second?</div>

• You really are a dear friend, to feel such empathy and kindness. I love the gift I just started lasagna. I'm behind. We haventvlooked for football yet, but we are watching the Blind Side. Does that count?

• Wally, I like your line of thinking. I've been told before that I can be creepy to be around because I hear and see a lot, and remember it all. I prefer to think that I take more time than most to actually get to know someone. Can't get to know someone if all you do is talk over people.

J, I have a little brother and 2 older stepbrothers but I still always preferred adult company. But that could have been because my siblings were all really irritating.
