[QUOTE]Wally, I like your line of thinking. <strong>I've been told before that I can be creepy to be around because I hear and see a lot, and remember it all. I prefer to think that I take more time than most to actually get to know someone. Can't get to know someone if all you do is talk over people. </strong>J, I have a little brother and 2 older stepbrothers but I still always preferred adult company. But that could have been because my siblings were all really irritating.

<div>True. </div><div>When I worked at the paper, everyone would tease me that I had 'Talk to me' tattooed on my forehead. I could get most anyone to open up to me. Wasn't always fun, but wow did I learn a lot about people. I wrote features for the most part, so it wasn't like I ever got some hardened criminal to spill or anything. But sure got to hear a lot of people's stories. </div>

  • Edie, we could, but I've been so lazy, and I've been promising my H meatballs and mashed potatoes for a week now.  I won't have time/motivation during the week at all, so I need to just do it tonight.

Yup, like Swedish meatballs, sort of, except with a beef broth gravy instead of a sweeter cream based sauce.  I've never made it before, but apparently H is a fan.  So why not.

<div>Oh that sounds good. I love Swedish meatballs. </div>
  • I've never had meatballs in gravy, just sauce. That sounds interesting.

My Mema makes awesome grape jelly meatballs. If I wasn't so lazy I'd try making them on my own, but I'd rather her just make them. Her food always tastes better.
  • If you say so.  In grade school we had a hot lunch they called "gravy train" which was ground beef and onions in some kind of beef broth/gravy over mashed potatoes.  That's as close as I get to meatballs and mashed potatoes in my head.  It was good, so I suppose I could buy meatballs and mashed potatoes too.
  • Edie- I think is BLT's

</div><div>Grape jelly meatballs are amazing. I also do one with apricot jelly and mustard. Same premise, but totally different flavor.</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: Grape Jelly one is chili sauce and grape jelly.</div>

    J, it's super easy.

1 big jar of grape jelly (30ish ounces)
2 bottles of chili sauce. (I use Heinz)
    Big bag of frozen meatballs

Put it all in the crock pot and let 'er rip. Takes a about 3 hours at least for them to be really good.

You can use the exact same sauce on Little Smokies/cocktail weenies, too.

ETA: The other way I do weenies or meatballs is equal amounts of mustard and apricot preserves, And I usually get the cheapest, most generic brand of each. Ends up kind of sweet and sour.

Now you have new treats to make for football season! YAY!

  • J&K - easy peasy.   http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1627,133187-243197,00.html.
    It really is that simple.
I've used the same sauce on lil' smokies sausages too.  Also delish party food.
