[QUOTE]Maybe I'm over reacting here -- however jeans -- to me -- are something I wear when running errands and are fairly comfortable...they were not intended to be worn to a reception, or worse, a wedding!  I own a few pairs of VERY nice jeans (woo hoo outlet shopping!) however would never think to wear them! Now, I'm the one who's planning a wedding -- how do I get my point across that you'll be kicked out if you show up in jeans...maybe without being so harsh!  haha I do mean the above with a bit of a light heart, sarcastic feel, but it is something I feel pretty strong about!  I'm not paying this much money on a meal for you to wear something you'd wear if I bought you Taco Bell too!

Most people think just like you do--they'd never dream of wearing jeans to a wedding. So you don't need to say anything, you just do the polite thing and assume that your guests know how to dress themselves.

Besides, on the off chance that someone does show up in jeans, how does that affect your day? It doesn't. They look like a fool, not you.

TOTALLY should've mentioned that my FI's cousin got married about a year ago and a few memebers of the family ended up in jeans!!!!!  That was suppose to go in there original post -- but I got side tracked by trying to not sound like I was a complete B!!!  :D

And you're right -- it wouldn't techinally affect me -- except that I'm A HUGE photo person -- I always have a camera with me -- and pictures up ALL OVER my house...and I KNOW that those jeans would stand out to me!

  • If I had cared as much as you seem to care, I would have picked a venue that had a dress code.  A jacket and tie required, no jeans allowed type place.

THEN you could put attire info requirements oin the invite.  But, since it sounds like you didn't go that route...you can't tell people what to wear.

Still, it's not polite to tell them what to wear. I would not put "formal" on the website either. People either get it, or they don't.

About the photos: you'll have hundreds of pictures of the day. Just don't print the ones you don't like.
  • I hear if people are in jeans, your wedding doesn't count.

Would I wear jeans to a wedding? No.

Would I ever have noticed if people wore jeans to my wedding? No.

Do I look back on my wedding and realize that some of my best memories are what my guests were wearing? No.

Do I even remember what anyone else wore? No.

Chill out dude. if they wear jeans, they wear jeans. In bad taste? Maybe. A horrific day ruiner? It shouldn't be. Unless you're nuts.

My uncle is getting married on Sunday and he said to just wear jeans or shorts, because that's what they're changing into after the ceremony. And then we're gorging ourselves on beer and chicken wings. Perhaps I should tell him that a real wedding means formalwear and fancy foo-foo food.

  • I wore jeans to my own wedding. White was just too formal and virginal. Guess that means I'm not really married since we ate Taco Bell as well.
  • I had a dream that we went to Taco Bell in the limo after the ceremony. I had a Crunchwrap Supreme. It was outstanding.
  • Jesus shows up to weddings in his bathrobe. No one kicks him out.

  • This thread brightened up my rainy, dreary morning.

    Thanks..

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • The world is lucky if I put any clothes on at all to go to Taco Bell, let alone jeans.

  • Um, Rosie? I think that's illegal. At least in most states. California and Florida are questionable. It's hot there.

  • I've seen people barely dressed at Walmart (people who should REALLY be dressed). At least you stay in your car for TB.
  • Oh come on people its just Taco Bell. Its not like we are talking about me going naked to Wendys or something. I am way more klassy than that.

  • I've gone to Sonic braless. I had on a shirt, but I still felt nekkid and put my arm over my chest at the window. I usually put on a bra to check the mail, even.
