I'm checking Amazon now.  I think I'm just cheap in that I don't want to pay $50 for a video game.
Posted by Holly4212011
<div>I'm cheap too and I have the same debate with myself. The last video game I bought was LA Noire for FI and even then I really was debating between new and used. I love that game too..I wish he hadn't traded it in. :(</div>

Ha, Holly, yeah $50 is way too expensive. We've never paid that much ever on a single game.

Petal, the imagination is a powerful thing..

• Hi all....settling in for the evening.

Hi ski! How are you feeling today?

• I'm heading for bed y'all.  Have a great night everyone.
• Night Loopy!

Holly, I feel like games are so expensive too. Some new games were on sale at Game Stop when we went this past weekend. It seems that the used games aren't that much cheaper.

• Oh ok, Kalpi -- I obviously could tell he was Asian but I'm terrible at telling different countries apart (I hope that doesn't make me awful -- FTR I can't really tell most people apart except the main continental differences) so I was curious. :)

• I can't justify video game prices either. But then again I never play them, so that is probably one of the reasons. I barely enjoy spending over $10 for a book and I love books! I'm just a cheap ass.

• MuSu I think that makes sense.  Can you really tell who is Swiss and who is German? Or Italian/Greek, et cetera.  They are all very close and have similar "features."
• Thank you for that Kalpi- made me feel better.

Emily- I have a hard time with video game prices also. I usually let FI buy his himself because I just can't stand it.

Yeah, this is true. I just feel badly because I know a lot of times people from Asia get offended when others can't tell them apart from another country's origin. But at least for me, it isn't just asian, its also african, european, etc. I mean, I usually can distinguish differences between western and eastern european (for example: irish vs. serbian), but that is about it.

• I hate how expensive books are.  I usually finish them in a day or 2, and 10 bucks for a day is just too much to me.  I've been slacking on my reading lately though.  I usually read on my kindle, but I'll go to the library occasionally.  Our library isn't very good though.

• Hmmm so I was thinking about getting FI a game system because he really wants one and a wii/dance games would be fun. So is this a money pit I should avoid?
Musu, I'm a cheap ass too.  I found that for books, I go to the flea markets and get them for no more than $5.  One of our flea markets has books for $1. Although, I can't lie, I do love Books a Million when I'm looking for something specific.
Posted by Holly4212011
Yeah I should go to used bookstores and stuff more often. I rarely get to read for fun though, but I will one day. :) I miss being in high school, I used to read so much. I feel way too guilty reading anything for fun now when I know I should/could be doing schoolwork. I can't wait for my HM -- I am gonna buy like 5 books to read on the beach. :)

• I have the same problem kc- I will usually splurge for kindle version though. I hear our library does e books now- I need to check that out.

• C, I am getting there.  I have cut  my hours back to 5 or 6 a day at work,  I really think I tried to do too much, too soon.  The key seems to be keeping that leg elevated.  I am so hoping that tomorrow when I go for my blood work (3rd time this week) that my coumadin levels are "theraputically stable" so I can quit with the darn shots to the belly.  I FEEL LIKE A PINCUSHION ANYMORE!  There, that felt better, thanks for letting me get that out.

Edmund is so stinking cute in the FB picture you posted tonight!

p.s. I am 5' 1" on a really good day.  And, I am not above asking the tall ones in this world to reach something down for me in the grocery store.  Just sayin'

Speaking from my own opinion here (since I'm not really a gamer), but J owns one of each game system, and I prefer the Xbox 360 out of any of them. I really don't know why but the wii rarely gets used. I'd buy the Xbox 360 with kinect if you were serious about buying one. But yes it is expensive, so there's that, lol.

• Great bargain Emily!

• We have a Wii and a Playstation and the Playstation gets used a lot more by H.  I'll use the Wii occasionally, but for real gaming it's not great.

• MuSu, exactly! I went to the Armenian museum in Watertown once with a friend (I'm part Armenian; he's from Iran, I think part Turkish and calls himself Persian) well the whole Armenian genocide thing with Turkey is still a sore subject, and the lady at the museum asked if we were both Armenian and my friend immediately said yes, because he was worried he'd get kicked out or something.  That wouldn't happen but he obviously was uncomfortable saying what he was, and the lady just saw him as middle eastern (and maybe a teeny bit me) and just asked.

It's hard to tell.  Because it doesn't really matter.
• It took me awhile to want to read, even for fun, after grad school. I went straight through from college and I didn't want to do anything but sit around.

I usually read the book in a day or two also which makes me hesitant to purchase any. I try to make myself only read a chapter or 2 a night but I just can't help myself.
Musu, I was very much the same way when I was in school.  The first year I was out, I read a book a week, sitting on my porch.  It was fantastic reading stuff I wanted to read, knowing I wasn't going to have to write a paper about it later.
Posted by Holly4212011
I can't wait for this day. It will be another year and a half before it comes, but I can't wait!

I have been in school nonstop since 1993. Dear lord.

• I just finally found my kindle cord after missing it for 2 months. Thank god I took that with me the last couple days otherwise I would have been so bored.

Here's hoping that you can get off the shots ski. I hate shots. I don't think I could do them all the time.

• I am right there with you ladies on the cost of books and video games.  I don't mind as much on video games because I know my son will play them multiple times.  But still, yikers, they are usually $50 each.  Surprizingly he does not have any games on his Christmas list this year, probably because he is making his own money and can buy them himself.  This year he wanted a couch and ottamon!  He seems to have moved into the much larger ticket items.  Surprised
• We have a Wii and a PS3. The Wii hasn't been used in about a year and the PS3 is only ever used to watch movies anymore. I don't know why we bought them really other than we wanted them. But we really could live without.

Aw that is sad that he was afraid. :( But yeah it really doesn't matter but some people do get really sensitive about it. I mean, it sucks if someone was like "OMG you all look the same" in a mean way. But I dunno, I just am really bad at being able to tell the difference. Most people guess that I'm scandinavian because I have brown hair with blue eyes and most other europeans don't have that combination as often.

• Ciara I think that's what will happen for us too. I'll buy it and it will rarely get used.  We already have a DVD player so there is no point.

Well I'm out.  Night all!
• My aunt asked us what we wanted for Christmas and I told her we wanted a convertible car seat since E doesn't have to much longer in his infant seat. I really hope we can wait until we get our tax return back though. We'll see.

• Haha it is kind of funny because we actually DON'T have a DVD player and usually either use the Xbox or PS3 to play them. heh. Plus the PS3 has blu-ray in it so that is a bonus.
