You can talk to me, set your secrets free baby AKA Evening thread

Re: You can talk to me, set your secrets free baby AKA Evening thread

  • Petal - you will be able to stream it on abc.com tomorrow.
  • Loopy, I am jealous of your valet trash/recycling. Our place doesn't even recycle. We still do and just take it to my parents house but it's a PITA.

Angel, ours was a blur (H uses my current sig pic as an example of that) but so worth it. I wouldn't change a thing. Having all of our friends and family there was too important to us.
  • I don't think I've ever heard of anyone regretting having a wedding, but I don't know, I'm just not very excited right now.

FI just asked me to go hang out at one of his friend's houses for a bit. Ugh. I don't want to go, but I feel bad saying no.

  • Angel: no one is as excited at someone else's wedding as your own....so don't be down based on your friends wedding :)

H told me the only wedding he has ever enjoyed, was our own.
In Response to Re: You can talk to me, set your secrets free baby AKA Evening thread : It goes by super fast...and it was pretty surreal for me the whole day....but it was a blast! I loved being able to celebrate with my friends and family! And as much as people say they don't notice things....I got compliments on things for months after the wedding. I know it seems like a lot of money for one day, but enjoy it! :)
    Posted by HockeyFan4
Yes, this! I still get compliments on our wedding. Basically, if someone attended our wedding is talking about weddings, they'll always be like, "And YOURS was so much fun!"

So not only did my H and I enjoy our wedding, but our guests did too, so the money was worth it to me.

Hockey- Understandable, I think thats a great cause. I usually donate all clothing to Goodwill. My dads company collects blankets and such for the homeless in the winter from his customers and takes money off their bill if they donate. So that was my line of thought.

  • H is home with dinner--pizza. :) He's a keeper.
  • Heb: ya...the homeless shelter near us is run by a questionable person (I have friends who have met opposition when they have gone to donate things)....

I actually donate winter clothes at the school I work at.....we have so many students who don't own and can't afford things like boots, hats, gloves, and coats :(
  • I love our wedding photos too. They're the only photos I've ever really looked at long after they were taken.

We still get this from our friends too when the subject of weddigns comes up. H's BM is maybe getting engaged (to his wackadoo gf - if it goes there, I'll probably have stories) and H is trying to convince him to use our venue so we can attend a wedding there as guests LOL.

  • Sara, I'm so sorry about your pup.
  • Loopy, I just noticed baby is moved up to onion sized! Cool. Hope he/she doesn't give you heartburn. ; )

About the being glad about the wedding, if you want to hear a REALLY old married hag's perspective, here it is: Do it. Even though a lot of it is a pain, it's worth it and you will be glad. Absolutely document the hell out of it any way you can — photos, video, hand-written messages from guests, guest book, whatever. It's fun to look back at the media and it's fun to share with your kids and/or others who are interested in the years after.

Plus, if your husband ever gets hit by a truck, you have photographical evidence that you are indeed married. (Teasing! He DID know who I was. Thank God!)

  • Evening ladies.

FI is at his monthly beer thing so it's just me, DivaBitch, and a frozen Indian entree from Trader Joes (which was surprisngly delish). I'm watching "Love It or List It" on HGTV. I'm incredibly annoyed with the couple on there right now. Waah waah, complain that you can't have your basement finished but they are fixing your freaking roof which was about to COLLAPSE all over your asses. Yeesh.

Hockey- That's horrible to hear! Do they do a collection for clothing?

Petal- when H was canceling our "free" movie channel they put him on hold for 20+ minutes. I swear they just put you on hold forever in hopes you'll hang up and forget to call back.

  • I am going to warm up leftover lasagna and make some garlic bread to go with it for dinner here soon. I keep waiting to get a little hungry, but it hasn't happened yet. The skittles I'm snacking on probably aren't helping :).

Angel- you will not regret spending the $$ for a wedding. You can put a price tag on one of the happiest days of your life.

  • That's true willy!

Last weekend we found our parents' guestbook....it was really cool because it was a guestbook/memory book. People who were my dad's ushers...I had never heard of....It was cool seeing friends names that they have had their entire lives...and it listed all the gifts they got from who...that was a hoot!

I was on hold for 20 minutes before I got a person. She told me they are having some problems but she is going to check to see if I'm having the same problems they are having. I am now on 7 minutes since she left me. Ugh.

I wanted to watch my trash TV dang it.

  • At our school, there is a teacher who collects winter clothes and spreads the word throughout the school, between students and teachers/admins...so kids can go and just get something, no questions asked. (she even collects some smaller things so kids can get stuff for siblings).

We also collect prom dresses, so kids can get them low cost/free, and regular clothes (though those tend to be smaller in collections and more for some of the special needs students, so if they have an accident, they can change.)

I loved my wedding. It was a blast. I also loved my pictures, even though I don't look at them anymore.
Angel, I bet you'll get more excited as you plan more things and see it come together. I wasn't super excited until we started getting cake plans and flower plans done. Then it felt more 'real'.

    Daff, thank you :)

  • It is amazing how many kids/people in need are right under our noses. We do a program called PACH (People Against Child Hunger) which makes food packs for distribution through the schools. H and I take care of the middle school. We just get a key and/or combinations to the lockers and a list and go fill them. Nobody knows who is on the list. If you ask to be included, you are. No questions asked.

  • Willy - that sounds like a nice program.
  • Hello. I just got back from the grocery store. Today was a bad day. H told me he called up the UKBA today and apparently they won't accept H's business as a form of support until it's been open for 12 months and they won't accept an affidavit of support from SIL in addition to the information from his accountant. So that means the absolute earliest I'll be in England is November.

Yeah, I took that well. I got very upset hten very drunk. Then took a nap and now I have sushi.

  • Angel, I booked all of my vendors just under a year out. Around here things book terribly fast. With that said, I've been sitting pretty and not doing anything since then until very recently. Now planning mode has started to hit now that I have to get all of my invitations put together and out by the very end of the month. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I felt these last few uneventful months were fun but I wasn't particularly excited about the wedding. Now I'm starting to get pretty excited.

  • Good evening! I feel like such a loser because reading the last few pages made me SO excited for this weekend and I got all teared up.

Sara- I'm so sorry about your dog. I'm glad you were able to be there, though.

unfortunately, at least in our community, a lot of families have their priorities mixed up. Families will all have brand new iphones, but no food or winter clothing :(

That's really awesome. And it's good that nobody knows who is on the list since kids can be cruel and pick on each other for the most awful things.
