• I sucked at lurking.  I posted as soon as I found the boards.  But I managed to not post some crazy-ass "My BF looked at rings, and I tried on a dress, and I wanna go here on our honeymoon, and we're Unofficially engaged-How do I tell my Mom?" post.  (And then argue with those who told me to slow my rolll....)
I just started posting about irrelevant stuff right away. Even though I only had a few posts, I think I had a good opinion on them.

Honestly, I was drawn to etiquette because of it's complete irrelevance to weddings, and the sass.  I love the sass.

I've read this whole thing and have only posted once because I had no opinion.

But maybe you all can help me find the person on here that was talking about having a Mirena without ever being pregnant?  I found a Dr that will do it for me, and I am super excited.  (Ready to be off the super-hormones.

Word.  I concur.  I'd also like to state for the record that I lost 50 pounds once and it was hard.  I can't imagine losing more than twice that, as some people do.  I think that people who get the surgery get help, like I did with a fancy gym membership because they have to go through the lifestyle changes afterwards.  If it doesn't work - then they have to do it the "hard way" but I see nothing wrong with trying the surgery.  Its kind of like the abortion as birth control argument.  People aren't really going to use it as a quick fix because its expensive and painful and sucks

• I would love to be a SAHM, but I'm the breadwinner, so that'll never happen. We're closer to my H actually being a SAHD, at least in the early years.

Also, if I could get a platonic (with my H) sister-wife, I'd snatch one up in a second. Two more hands to cook and clean? Yes, please!

I kept asking my H why they didn't have a multiple husband sect, but then I thought about it and realized women are too smart to sign up for being married to/ mothering several men at once.

that's great, but it doesn't happen that often.
like I said, once a person reaches a certain weight and a certain age, physiologically speaking, it's sometimes impossible to lose weight without drastic measures.

I would love to be a SAHM too.  I think I'm from the tail -end of people from that feminist mind-set that women who prioritize family are weak or against the rights of women for equal pay and rights in the school and workplace, so many of my colleagues and family do not understand why I'd want to give up my profession.  I don't have kids yet, so no decisions have been made, but I like that there's an option that doesn't declare me a betrayer of my sex if I don't dress like a man, maintain my separate bank account, and contribute equally to the 401k/IRA as my (future) husband.  (And, no, lala, I am not implying that you dress like a man, I'm just referring to Working Girl and Baby Boom.)

exactly. I have a family member who has tried damn near everything to lose weight, but it's two steps forward and one step back. when you're staring down the barrel of losing 300 pounds, it's not easy, especially when you're not young. the family has been trying to convince this person to get weight loss surgery for years, but I suspect this person will die before that happens.

• I don't judge anyone who has weight loss surgery.  Why should I?  It's none of my business.  I presume they have had lots of meeting with qualified professionals and have done what they can to not end up there, but end up there anyway, and like I said, who am I to judge?  I would be supportive of any friend I know who made that choice because I bet it's a really hard choice to come to.

Of course there exceptions to that, people you hear of who have the surgery and then don't do what they're supposed to do and gain weight back, but I think there are always exceptions to the rule and that's them.  And even if they, still why do I care or have to judge about it?
I must not pay attention because I wasnt aware that futuremrs was a SB reg. Ive seen her posts here and there, but not regularly. I think? I dunno. I recall seeing her post here as well in the past. Im personally all for raiding her boards to get an explanation so she can be the crazy mod who deletes anyone who says anything she doesnt like. I want to know wtf is going on inside her head.
Posted by Nebb
My issues with her started several months ago when I went to check on the attire board and found a post filled with flames from SB-ers. Sure enough, she'd linked it to SB.

Why was I pissed about that post in particular? Because at that time, future-mrs was a pretty regular poster on Attire as well, and the post was one of the ones about military dress that we get a couple of times per week. It wasn't any screechier than similar posts earlier in the week, so the whole situation reeked of "Hey guyth! Let's go flame this whiny chick I found! Don't you like me?"

I hate the phrase "trying too hard" with a passion, but she was, and she brought drama to one of the more puppies and rainbows boards out there in the process.
