Re: Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays

  • You didn't notice anything about it in the HR stuff they shoved in your face when you started?  That's usually something they talk about.. Holidays and PTO.
  • Don't you get the summer off, Chels?

[QUOTE]Yep, she's the dobie.  She can't stay out in the sun too long since she's so light, her skin gets irritated easily, and she's on meds because she dribbles at night without it.  We've got a diaper (like what you use when they're in heat) ready for when the medicine stops working.  Shea got her before I knew him.  He thought "oh neat dog" instead of "hello genetic mutation."  She's really sweet though.  She's a typical doberman.  She wants to be as close to us as possible at all times, and god forbid we are separate rooms of the house.  She likes us all together.

I think it is cute that he adopted her, even with her issues. Even special needs dogs need homes. :) I love her and I haven't even met her. lol. When I come visit FL, I am excited to meet her. ;) What are your other dog breeds again?

  • Sadie is adorable.

MK -- I was thinking about your job's holiday policy.  Even I get holidays off.  If I have to work (since mine is also a "24/7/365" job), I am allowed to take an extra day off to make up for the holiday that I worked.

It's good that he took her in... even if he didn't realize she was going to be special needs. A lot of dogs with any kind of special needs don't get homes and it makes me so sad. I would probably adopt one when we get a house if FI will let me.

  • Oh he didn't adopt her.  The idiot paid for her.

Musu, we also have a mini dachshund and a pit/chow/whatever else mix.  They both have issues too, but oh well.  We love them all! :)

  • Evening, everyone. MK, that sucks about the PTO. H doesn't get any PTO, or sick days. Most people in food service don't. If he is running a fever at all, they won't let him come in, but won't pay for a sick day. So it bites.

Chels, you may only get 2 days of PTO per year, but that's hardly comparable considering spring break, Christmas break, and summer.

Oh, and dinner was homemade calzones. I need to do those more often.
  • Angel, this might sound creepy, but I feel like when I read your posts, I am reading what I would write in response to a lot of things. haha. :)

  • Adamar - my dog is incontinent too - spay induced.  She takes Proin.  Good help me when it stops working.

Yeah but even so, 2 days out of 9 months is a little ridiculous.  Not to mention, my summer job gives me no PTO either because I'm part time (which pisses me off.  A full time employee can accrue PTO per hours worked, but part time cannot).
  • hehehe my MIL just called...she was stuck on one of her math practice questions.

I am not feeling good about this job test she has to take tomorrow.
  • Guys.the mowing will never end. I wanna go home and cook dinner why did I tag along again? Oh yeah, to avoid my own work. We have to earn our pto but at least we get the big holidays off.
  • That's what Sadie's on, Loopy.  Actually, I need to remember to order more tomorrow.

That first part made me chuckle. But usually adoptions have a fee too, right? Either way, I am glad she is in a good home. :)

Loopy they only ever shoved PTO in my face and made no mention of it during Orientation. Silly me for thinking they operated like a normal company. I used to work for the other big hotel chain corporation and we got PTO and holidays. Not having them is just weird to me. And I'm one that won't take the day off unless I have to/am getting paid for the day off. Which means I'll probably never use PTO to take days off like 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.

Mica if I was a salaried manager I can do that. If I were to work a Saturday or Sunday I could take a day off the next week to make up for it. The one benefit of being an hourly manager is that anything I work on the weekends is overtime (and anything over 40 hours is overtime), but that means I typically can't take a day off during the week.

Evening ladies! I don't get PTO, because I'm part time. Whatever, I so love coming and going as as I please, so I don't care at all that I don't get PTO. The benefit of making my own schedule completely outweighs any negative.

And i've got to go to bed. I know it's early, but this cold/flu/whateverthefluckitis is kicking my ass. A couple extra hours of sleep couldn't hurt. Night all.

  • Night MK, hope you feel better!

Hi Erin! Coming and going as you please must be really nice, I definitely wish I could do that. I actually just wish I could go out with the kids, but they're all so young that I don't think their parents would want us doing much.

  • Good night MK.  I just took a 2 hour nap :)
  • Good evening! Got some exciting news. I got another job. Waitressing at an upscale German restaurant. Should make big bucks there, but it's working Friday and Saturday nights. And we want a house. I fell in love with one, and we need to save up and build up that down payment.

    Tory is a chocolate lab:

and Willow is a Chesapeake bay Retriever, so she will grow up to look similar to Tory, but more like this:

  • Loopy, I took a 2 hour nap earlier, but didn't wake up feeling refreshed at all. Probably because I wasn't actually ready to wake up, but I had to get up and go to physical therapy.

Nicki, Congrats on the job! I'm sure buying the house will totally be worth giving up your weekend nights for a little while!

Musu - Tori is so freakin cute and it looks like Willow will be too. I can't wait to see puppy pictures when you get her!

  • Evening!
I got home late from work. :(  I hate having to do tech support all by myself.
Other than that I think H and I are going to have Hamburger helper for Dinner because we're both feeling too lazy to make a full meal.

Adamar-Copper wears a diaper too, he's on Vetmendin, which makes him go to the bathroom a lot, so stays out during the day and wears a wrap and goes in his crate at night.

Whit-Darn you for bringing up Tx Roadhouse on Pg 1. Now I want some! Love that place!

  • Thanks Angel, that's what I am hoping. The house is about 20,000 above our price range. I love it, Elliot isn't 100 sold on it. So... I need this job. I really thought I was done workin weekends for the rest of my life. Curses! Although, I am still waiting to hear back about the 5 teaching jobs I applied for.
