my cousin went to a naturopath.  changed her diet and took some herbal vitamins.  3 weeks later one lump was gone and the other shrunk drastically.  now 3 months later, she's cancer free.  (she didn't pay 25k though - that is A LOT of money for outpatient care) she didn't do one thing western medicine related. colour me a believer in that kind of stuff. to only believe in one method is very narrow minded.  western medicine fails us all the time.  natural means do too.  if we combine the two i think that we'd be able to survive a lot of illnesses.  that's my take on it though.

We've had this convo Mandy. :)  I think it's fine to seek non-traditional means.  I don't think it's fine to take advantage of desperate people.

    The place is in Mexico.

Ditto this. i've had patients whose medicine would make them sick beyond beleif but the docs said that was the way of things. Alot of nurses though know about vitamins and herbal stuff that when taken with the medication would help eliminate alot of those side effects. Sometimes they can work hand in hand.
I judge people who assume I have a friendly dog and try to pet him w/o asking. I had one stranger ask if he could pet my dog and I said "No he doesn't like strangers" (I've trained him this way as a guard dog) and he tried to reach in and pet him anyways. Dude if my dog bites your hand off cuz you can't listen, it's not my fault.

YES. I judge parents who don't teach their kids healthy boundaries when it comes to other people's dogs. They just let them run up and stick their face in my dog's face and jump all over him. How do they know my dog won't bite their precious Zoey's face off?
  • speaking of helmets, i judge people who ride MOTORCYCLES without helmets.  its legal in NH to ride without - doesnt make it smart to do so!
  • I judge my boss for being a meanie.

I judge the family who was hanging outside my house a couple nights ago and was letting their 8-10 year old son play in the dumpster.  (I live by a homeless shelter).
In Response to Re: Do you wanna judge things? : I totally agree with you. It's on a much smaller scale and certainly not life threatening, but 1 oz of apple cider vinegar a day has done more for my arthritis than taking 500 mg of Naproxin a day ever did. Really, it worked. I was shocked.

Ginger helps settle my stomach better than pepto bismal ever did too.
  • I judge my aunt, who at age 62, still borrows thousands of $ from my grandpa and doesn't pay it back. She even conned him into lending money to her boyfriend, who hasn't paid it back. My grandparents are in their 90s and need 24/7 in home care and can't pay for it because she keeps taking their money.

She is a business owner, who owns her own home, and does quite well. She spends like there is no tomorrow, though, and always have. My mom and other aunts are now scrounging around, even one of them contemplating selling her house and their house, and buying one all together so she and her husband can take care of them.

I also judge her for taking my grandpa's coin collection and the family silver without permission, lying about it, and probably hocking it.

I am not sad at all that she's not coming to the wedding.

  • yeah, and that cider vinegar could just be a placebo LC, but it's working and that's all that matters, right?

my GF has bad crohn's.  she takes coconut oil everyday and eats quite well.  she feels better than she has in years.  she also gets her infusions of her meds as well.  but, eventually she wants to go off, but her doctor is reluctant.

EXACTLY! It's my own business that I trained my dog in this manner, my dog does not look nasty in any way so people think it's OK. A few parents on my street give me the side eye when I tell their children to stay away and not pet my dog when I walk him.
SEWF - I am guilty of not wearing a helmet, sorry. Although I am with you on the other points of bikers. I can't stand when they don't use the sidewalk (no bike path) IMO unless you can pedal at 50MPH you shouldn't ride in the street.
    Posted by mgietler76
Sidewalks are for pedestrians. Roads are for vehicles, which a bike is. They should keep to the right unless they are turning left, as they are slower traffic. Drivers and bikers really need to learn this.

Though I must say that 1) I don't ride a bike because I'd be scared shiitless of the drivers who whiz by at 65mph, 1 foot away (there's now a campaign to tell drivers to stay 3 feet away, but still) and I'd be afraid of car doors. And 2) I wouldn't ride a bike in Buffalo, either because of the condition of the roads and the fact that snow banks take up half the right lane 6 months a year. Although the condition of roads in LA isn't any better.

<div>This. My grandpa saw an infomercial that said they were pretty close to a cure for Alzheimer's. He is convinced that if he can keep grandma alive just a little longer, then they can cure her and they can take care of each other again. Grandma has had severe senile dementia for over 10 years, and can't even sit up by herself. The fact that he has this false hope makes me cry. </div>

  •   I judge people in this office building who act like vultures when there is leftover food from ANOTHER department's meeting.
One lady  took a BIG bowl of salad, dumped it, and started storing her food in there so she could take it home(she was a temp at the time, too!). People were pissed because she wasted perfectly good food just so she could use the bowl for what she wanted.

I just couldn't imagine  NEVER bringing lunch and going floor to floor looking for leftover food and packing tons of tupperware filled with it.

They seriously act like the apocalypse just happened and this is the last amount of food on Earth.

My dad. He got into a car accident when I was 11 that shattered his pelvis. So he's been in chronic pain for 13 years now. Of course he's prescribed narcotic painkillers, but he's hyper aware of the possibility of addiction and he started looking for something else. He did some research and came up with apple cider vinegar. The vinegar completely eliminates my pain most of the time, but mine's not nearly as severe as dad's. It doesn't completely get rid of his, but it makes it  tolerable. He still keeps his script up, because sometimes it just gets unbearable, but for the most part, he does a shot of apple cider vinegar a day and that takes care of it.

  • Mery -  I live in a small suburb of Buffalo and our roads and sidewalks are just fine lol I still hate though when I have to drive past a biker, I get nervous if I can;t switch lanes away from them. I ride on the sidewalk even though I'm not supposed to cuz I don't want to get hit.

I was born in Amherst, but I grew up in East Aurora. SNOW BELT! Haha. I went to high school in the city and lots of times our local schools would be closed, but Buffalo schools wouldn't be closed. Yeah, we'd drive up the 400 through the snow just to realize it wasn't snowing AT ALL in the city.

I usually switch lanes for bikers here. Drivers AND bikers are crazy in LA.

My boss does this. We have shared classrooms across the hall from us where other departments have meetings and conferences and he will seriously walk in the food area (which is cordoned off with room dividers) in the MIDDLE of their meeting/conference to take food. He thinks it's okay because we know the building coordinator who organizes everything, but sheesh! At least wait until they leave at the end of the day.
