Wow, I knew the chorus of the song you were talking about, but had no idea the topic of the song.  I used to sing along to that one.

I was also surprised to actually read the lyrics of Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind.  I'd sing along to that one too when I was young, but apparently only really to the chorus since I never really knew what the song was about.

Before caller ID, my parents would screen phone calls by waiting until it went to the answering machine then answering it if the person leaving a message was someone they wanted to talk to.
