Re: Good morning!

  • Good morning everyone,

I'm Kate and I'm new to this board.  Just wanted to say hi :)

  • WTF missy, that is so crappy that your apt is not wanting to pay that for you. :( How are you holding up with all of ths?

  • Were you on last night?

The hot water tank in the apt above us burst yesterday morning. I was just checking to make sure the computers didn't get shorted out. We made a claim against insurance, we are probably going to lose the couch and a spare twin mattress set and a older full mattress set.

Our apt is disgusting and gross and the apt office and the insurance people think we can stay here. The ceiling is going to cave in and their are water spots everywhere. They don't want to replace the carpet either.

This place smells like mold and mildew. H is recovering from bronchitis and I have allergies and sinus issues really bad. We have to get our stuff out of here and into storage so they can do the repairs. I personally think this place needs to be torched.
  • I feel like I missed it too Emily.

Missy - CN?  What's going on?  Or a link to a thread previously discussed?

  • Musical - I am a wreck. H is at work b/c of a big project. He wants me to start packing sh!t up to move to storage. I want to scream and cry and b!tch people out right now. It is hot as fluck in here and it smells like mold, mildew and ass. I think I need a gas mask.

    Here you go. Page 6.
  • :( Aw man, Missy that sounds awful. It is really not good for you to stay there with those kind of conditions. We had problems with mold and an A/C leaking water into our living room within the first few days of moving to our apt and they fixed it right away, gave us a break on our first month of rent, and I wouldn't have stayed there if it would have happened in the bedroom (it only affected the living room). That is total BS.

  • That sucks Missy. The apartment complex really should be taking care of all that, not to mention that you're probably going to have moldy carpets in a few days. You should look up landlord tenant laws and go argue with those people.

Sorry that happened to you :(

  • What the fluck do we pay renters insurance for if they aren't going to get the deductible back from the apt office or property mgt company? I need a copy of the renters laws in GA or something.
  • I am so sorry missy :(

  • This reminds me I should probably purchase renter's insurance one of these days.

Sorry you're going through all that Missy, I can fully commiserate with crappy apartment issues. At least you guys were planning on getting out of the apt asap anyway.
  • We didn't stay here last night even though they thought we could. They were being wishy washy on whether they would pay for a hotel. We don't have any family here, only a few friends from church. We stayed with one of them last night. I just hate to impose on people for too long.
  • Oh Missy, that sounds awful!  Ugh.  I hate landlords sometimes.  I hope you get everything sorted out.  I'd be saying a few choice words to the asshats who think you can live in that mess.

  • We are trying to use this to get out of our lease early but we still haven't heard back from the apt office yet and this happened at 9am yesterday. They have to get it approved through the property mgt company or something. I just don't know where we will stay b/c I don't really want to live here esp if they aren't going to replace the carpets.

H says move our stuff to storage, let them do the repairs and force them to replace carpet, basically just sleep here and that is it and move at the end of May. I am moving mid May anyway, but I am not even going to be packed b/c sh!t is scattered everywhere and I am starting a new job. H just needs to put his 2 weeks in but he doesn't want to do it until we have an answer from the apt complex if we can use this to get out of the lease early.

Anna - definitely get renters insurance. But of course, I don't know how much good it is going to do us now. Ugh.
  • Just pray that I don't get throw in jail if I go off on someone.

I need to get moving here. I might be back on later.

I hope everyone has a great day. I am sure anything will be much better than this mess.
  • Oh Missy, what a nightmare. I'm so sorry.
  • Missy, I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with that.  It sounds like a giant PITA and your apartment management needs to get slapped.

Have you found a place in Ohio yet?  Are you moving back to Columbus, or somewhere else? (Psst.  SW Ohio has cool people and a cute dog.)
  • We haven't found a place yet. We will probably stay with family until H finds a job so we can get something that is central to both of our jobs. Anything would be better than this place right now.

And your doggy is really cute. Our friends have a chow & golden retriever pup. He has the coloring of a retreiver, but the tail and tounge (blue) of a chow. He is adorable. They named him Rowdy.
  • I'm so sorry Missy! If you were closer I'd have you stay with us. I'm just checking in to say good morning. I'm about to get up and head to 3 drs appointments today. Hopefully I get some good news. I'm really ready to kick this little guy out.
