Hey dudes.

Re: Hey dudes.

  • You guys are getting our heat wave. It was positively disgusting today. If it makes you feel any better, it's supposed to be a high of 75 tomorrow, which means in a day or two that should be headed your way.

  • You at the pregnant-or-beer phase, Loopy?

Me too, except mine's a beer baby.
Dude, my H was into ICP and that shitt when I met him. I was VERY relieved when he pulled up in a new Maxima to pick me up for our first day. He did have flames on his shoes, bleached blond spikey hair, sideburns and 4 earrings in each ear though. ha.
    Posted by kellyjellybelly
Kudos to you for seeing his good side. I don't think I could have gone out with an ICP fan. Not that I know all that many of them, but every one that I have met is a fvcking idiot.

  • In Response to Re:Hey dudes.:
Speaking of Phish, I am also glad I met H after his jam band phase. He was more into WSP, but still, Iit is not something I am interested in. Posted by RupertPenny
Do you have photos? Based in the version of your H that I have in my head from your past sig pics, I can't picture him as a jam band dude!

I'm realllly glad I met DH the day after he shaved off his scraggly, shoulder length, died black Kurt Cobain hair. I mean, he's a good looking dude regardless, but.... Yeah.

We were so hipster together in the early days.

Posted by JK10910 I hope it gets better soon! When I was there last week I was surprised about how pleasant it was. Apparently it is no longer.
  • It's hot as balls here too. I don't think this is normal for here. It's only supposed to be 82 tomorrow so I hopefully will take the dog for a walk. I should really get up earlier and walk before work when it's still pretty nice out, but I am really bad at getting out of bed in the morning. Pregnancy hasn't changed that :).
Musu, is he looking at LSU? You could not pay me to live in Baton Rouge, even without having to do weirdo civil law.
    Posted by RupertPenny
Don't hate! Haha. Actually, I'm counting down the days til H graduates. But I think it's more because I miss CA. Baton Rouge can be strange but being able to go to NOLA all the time almost makes up for it. Sometimes anyway.

  • JK, that sounds promising. I hate humidity and 90 degree heat. I am emphatically a spring or fall person. Not summer.

  • I suck at getting out of bed in the morning right now. I think I got up at 12:30 today.

  • I've never been a morning person either. When I was in high school, in the summertime I'd stay up until 8am and then sleep until my I heard the garage door open when my parents got home from work.
  • Poli, he is more clean cut now but he is really fratty at heart. I don't have any of him in at Panic show, but here is one of him from college (I think):

And weather wise, it has been practically cool here the last few days, only about 92 and 40% humidity.
In Response to Re: Hey dudes. : I think I see where you're coming from. I don't quite understand it, only because I've never been that into music (I'm a book nerd, and I like quiet to read). Like, I've been to a ton of concerts but not that one act that I'm devoted to. It caused serious problems in his relationship with my sister, including his breaking off their engagement and having her sign over their house to him because he met someone on tour last year when he saw 12 or 13 shows. So I'm biased against them, probably unfairly. I also think at 31 it might be time to scale back a bit. See? I am old and judgy. I'm also exhausted and I'm going to try to sleep off this headache. Good night friends!
    Posted by EaglesBride2012
I can see it causing problems in a relationship where one half has drunk the kool aid and the other hasn't. Because if you have, it can become all-consuming. There are so many places I haven't traveled to because I spent my money and vacation time going on tour instead of taking real vacations. But, I wouldn't take back any of it for the world because those experiences were some of the best times I've ever had.

I'll be honest, it's hard for me to understand people that don't "get it" because it's THAT enjoyable to me, but then I realize that's silly because everyone has different things that get them off. But sometimes "getting it" feels like being let in on a big secret that everyone else is missing out on. I guess that probably sounds assholey, but to me, there is just nothing else like being at a Phish show when everything is clicking.

I dunno, I've always been a musically inclined person. And being fond of psychedelic drugs (while totally unnecessary to appreciate) enhances all of it. Though I've had as much fun at shows being drunk off my ass.

I don't know, it's really hard to describe if it's not your thing, but there's like an instant repoire amongst people for whom it is.

Oh, I didn't know your dad had surgery! I probably missed a ton on it, so I hope everything is ok. In the interest of not repeating a bunch of stuff, you can send me a message if you want to talk about it. And actually, I just sent you a message (on the facebook).

Ditto! 80 degrees is my max. If it's hotter than that, I'd better be at the beach! DH doesn't know how "humid' it is in Knoxville. I'm hoping that since it's eastern TN near the mountains that the humidity is less than Boston or Cincy.
  • Hey MP! How was London? I like your sig pic.
    imageAnniversary
  • Hey, Tracy! Just realized we were e-mail buddies, but I haven't talked to you since we got back!

I might have mentioned it in the email, but we preferred Paris to London. In London we were running around like crazy trying to do everything before it all closed. In Paris it felt much more relaxed. We loved seeing the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The Musee D'Orsay was a really neat building. Unfortunately we were starting to get weary of museums. Our favorite thing in London was the Tower Bridge. I think we're just structural engineering dorks.
  • MP - I haven't been to London, but I have VERY fond memories of Paris. It's been 15 years since I went (high school trip) and I would love to go back. I want to take H.

I just got off the phone with my mom. I love my mom. :)
  • Oh yeah, and I got a bueno bar. I bought one at CDG trying to use up my last few euros. It was quite tasty. I also enjoyed the macaroons at Lauduree. Matt wasn't too sure, but I thought that they were amazing. I realized how rich the desserts are in Paris. No wonder people don't just chow down on them. I could only eat one or two.
  • Do it, Loopy! It was much more quaint than London. Plus I loved trying to use my French.
  • I honestly can't imagine a dessert too rich for me to chow down on. I love dessert.

  • I must have missed that email somehow; I'll go check again. London can be tiring for sure. Everyone is just full speed ahead! Slow down for a second on the sidewalk or in the tube station stairs/escalators and you just might get run over. haha. It's still my favorite though.

I knew you were an engineer but I didn't realize your H is too. Do you guys work together?

Maybe I didn't say it in an email. I feel like I've been telling everyone about the trip, so I feel bad if I repeat something.

DH and I met in grad school, so yeah we're both dorky engineers. Luckily we have different interests, and we don't work together. Though, it is nice to have someone at home to answer your really stupid questions. The other night I was trying to figure something out at work, we talked about it on our evening walk with the dog, and I went back to work with a great idea.

Angel, rich desserts do exist in the US, but I think it's much harder to find. Who can't eat a whole bunch of oreos or chocolate chips?
  • Mmmmm...Bueno bars! I found a 3-pack at World Market last weekend and was beyond thrilled. Those things are like crack.

I loved Lauduree too. On the last night of our honeymoon we got a box and ate them on a bench, just watching the Arc de Triomphe and the traffic in the crazy roundabout. I actually still have my little green bag. I save way too much stuff!
