Hey dudes.

Re: Hey dudes.

  • People always say things like, "Oh that dessert is so rich, I can only eat a few bites" and then I'm still able to eat a ton of it, haha.

  • We will definitely go back. We went to Italy for our HM cause it was important to us that that trip be to somewhere neither one of us had been. We spent a few days in Chamonix France and I loved trying use my (very) rusty French. I can still read it really well, and understand a lot of it spoken, but recalling the words in order to actually do the talking was rough. We put $$ in a travel account every month with the intent of going somewhere big every 5 years. I'm not sure if we'll do Hawaii in 3.5 years (we started the month after we got married) or somewhere else in Europe.
  • Hello all! Just got home from the wing place with DH. So much for making dinner. LOL

Got 2 of the 3 kitty boxes scrubbed, lots of laundry done, the kitchen part way cleaned, and hubby is going to work on it tomorrow.

Now I get to work for an hour or two before bed. Aren't I lucky? LOL

  • Tracy, I brought the green bag back with us, too. As well as that pretty Harrod's chocolate box. It's blue and round. I have these images of keeping jewelry or something it. Really, it will just collect dust somewhere.
Mmmmm...Bueno bars! I found a 3-pack at World Market last weekend and was beyond thrilled. Those things are like crack. I loved Lauduree too. On the last night of our honeymoon we got a box and ate them on a bench, just watching the Arc de Triomphe and the traffic in the crazy roundabout. I actually still have my little green bag. I save way too much stuff!

Did you know that the McDonald's on the Champs Elysee (sp?) is the only McDonalds in the world with white arches? They want the Champs Elysee to look like white diamonds when you look down on it from the Arc De Triomphe.

  • Loopy, when we were deciding where to go for our HM, Matt declared "NOT FRANCE!" He wanted to just relax for our HM. After our trip to Europe, I told him that we'd made the right choice. I think we're more of beach people than running around crazy people. However I wouldn't mind going back to Europe with some friends who like to drink. DH doesn't drink too much. I think it would have been a much different trip if he did.
  • Haha, I like dorky engineers. I'm a Project Admin for a big firm right now and was previously one for an architecture firm. H is going to be a landscape architect and when we're traveling he's always stopping to take pictures of the weirdest things.

  • Loopy, that's interesting little fact. I wish I had known. Now I'll just have to check it out on our next trip!

  • Has he been to Versailles then? Those gardens were pretty awesome!

I didn't notice the white arch McD's. We did eat at a McD's on Paris near the Pantheon. Just trying to save some money. Those cafes were freaking expensive!!

We went to there on our first visit in 2009 but it was in the middle of winter so there wasn't much to see in the gardens. I'd love to go back in the Spring sometime.

Not doing Europe for your honeymoon was definitely a good choice. We did London, Paris, and Barcelona but it was our third time in London and second in Paris. It was much more relaxing because we got all the must-sees out of the way on the other trips. H got blisters on his feet during our first trip; it was a marathon.

  • Most of our vacations involved hiking/camping. And we've done a couple of beach vacations. So we'll keep doing those on a regular basis. But we also want to see a lot of places so we came up with the every 5 year plan to do a bigger trip. Otherwise we'll keep putting it off for "later" and never get to half the places we want to see.
  • I went to Versailles. The gardens are awesome. We rented bikes and rode around the gardens for an afternoon.

    Loopy, the biking sounds great!

Holly, my aunt has a beach house that we like to use for vacay, too. Who can say no to a free place to stay? In fact we're going down there about a month from today!

Sorry to go MIA. DH turned on the NBA Finals game. LeBron just went out with a hurt leg. He then said $hiiit and the bleepers didn't catch it in time. I think he's coming back though. I don't really care about the NBA finals, but I can get sucked into the end of almost any basketball game.

    Have a great night, ladies!!
  • In Response to Re:Hey dudes.:
Poli, you probably already said, but how is your dad feeling after the second surgery today? Posted by angelstar975
Sorry for the accidental P and R, I thought I had a few minutes of battery left, but my phone died :P He's pretty out of it, but his surgeon said that everything went well and that he should be back on track. Thanks for asking, lady.
