I pretty much never go anywhere without an Ativan or two. My anxiety can strike pretty much anywhere, and it sucks when I'm not prepared. I try to breathe through it regardless, but when I know I don't even have my medicine with me, I tend to feel even more anxious. Imagine that...

H has almost always flown here nonstop. His first flight had a connection in Ohio. On the new flight a woman freaked out and wanted off the plane, so it had to be searched. He and his luggage were put on two different flights to ATL and then we waited around the airport for almost two hours trying to find his luggage.

His second flight here he tried to do a connection through NYC. He had an hour (if I remember correctly) to make his connection. Which would not have been a problem, but the second flight was in a different airport.

He ended up getting his flight changed to nonstop for free and has flown that way since.
Our flights to Vegas had a layover in Salt Lake City.... that's when I decided I will only fly non-stop from now on. It's annoying having to get off and on planes, kill time, etc... not to mention it makes me super nervous for my luggage to have to switch flights, etc.
    Posted by angelstar975
Oh yeah, that's another reason I hate connecting flights. Lugging around my carry-ons is a pain.

Poke, we flew non-stop LAX-Heathrow for our honeymoon. It was amazing! On our previous trips we had layovers in Philadelphia, Paris, and Atlanta (the worst/longest Customs ever!). I'll take 10 hours over 14-16+ hours any day!

I thought about asking the doc for something but didn't know if I could just take over the counter sleeping meds?

H has never flown.  He told me the only way he will is if we go to Ireland someday.

I get the same way sometimes.  I take a one-a-day, so I don't take it during the daytime, but if I forget my pills and I"m going to be away for more than 24 hours, that heightens my anxiety.

Tylenol PM and the like cause you to sleep by using Benadryl. In some people (like me! I'm lucky!) Benadryl increases anxiety. It gives me terrible night terrors, causes sleep walking, and panic attacks in my sleep.

I've taken it on flights, but it's not my first choice. (and, I mix two Benadryl with wine to reduce the anxiety effects, which isn't advised at all.)

Phenegram reduces nausea and makes most people sleep, it might be a better option. But, an anxiety med would probably be your better bet. I have a pretty good pharmacy thanks to my migraines and Lupus. ;)

I had Ativan, now have Xanax, but my cohort is on Klonopin and seems to be functioning better than I am with anxiety.

I've got to talk to my doctor next time I go about dealing with my panic attacks.

Tracy - ATL is one of the busiest airports in the world. They have built a new terminal just for international flights. Unfortuantely, it's in a totally different building. Something I didn't know when I went to pick up H before the wedding. That was annoying.
  • Options
Poke, that's good to know!  We've been avoiding ATL like the plague for the past couple years due to our experience.

From what H and my ILs said, it was quite nice arriving at the international terminal.

I'm really ready to go home... I don't think I like working at night much. When I waitressed, I used to hate working nights... I'm supposed to be in my pjs, relaxing in bed at this time, haha.

    Thanks for asking

Okay, I guess.    At brunch yesterday  I felt  coming on again.  I stopped eating, let it pass and then continued eating.  I started a food diary so I can track what the tiggers seem to be.   Fried chicken seems to be one of the tiggers, but not always.

It also seems to happen after  if I've done somethings 'physical' before I eat.   Like yesterday we walked a pretty good pace to the Casino, then started eating.  Or I will do a brisk walk to the fried chicken place for takeout.

It's never happened with homecooked foods or when I've eaten at sit-down restaurants.

    Weird.

It's good that you're keeping a food diary.  Consider writing down what you do before the meal too.

And consider trying to sit still for a while (even just 5 minutes) between exertion and eating and see if that helps.  When we exercise, blood is diverted from the gastrointestinal system to the legs, and so our stomachs are not at their best until we stop exercising.

ETA: a "not" to make things make sense.  Oops.

    Good to know.

I  will also track what I'm doing before I start eating.

Thanks.  Luckly I don't feel bad often.  Just when I eat sometimes, it passes (or I get sick) then I'm back to normal.

    Evening ladies!

I ate dinner almost 2 hours ago and am hungry again, but have no idea what I want.  I should be cleaning or doing laundry tonight, but I don't feel like doing either of those either.
