Re: Night Thread

  • If you're still trying, then you're doing good chica. Need me to send you a truckload of binder clips, squeezy balls (not those kind you perv), rubber bands and paddle balls?

  • Tide, I bet there are many days where you feel like you live in a zoo. This is a feeling I am anticipating, and this is our first!
  • Thanks, guys! Those pics were from their 1 year birthday party, so they're already 3(?) months old. Holy crap, time is going by way to fast.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • I just ate a super unhealthy tater tot casserole dinner, but dammit, it was delicious.

H is watching Sons of Anarchy and I really just want to read and pass out. Having a TV and our air mattress in the living room is a PITA.

My internet keeps going out. I feel like I'm in the islands.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Tater tot casserole sounds delicious. One of my childhood favorites was tater tot casserole.
  • Do I want leftover cheddar/gruyer/beer macaroni and cheese or leftover sausage lasagna for dinner?

Maybe we live in the same house, because I'm having the same problem.

Aw, you're sweet. :) I feel pretty hefty these days, but I can proudly say that it's all baby...and my fat that I had pre-pregnancy...but the new weight is all baby. :)
  • Hey ladies!

Wrigley, I haven't talked to him since he finished, but he texted me on his lunch break around 1 and said it was hard, so I don't know what that means. Today was the PA bar exam. He has the multi-state portion tomorrow and then he'll be all finished.

Wally, he won't find out the results until the end of October, so we've got a wait ahead of us! It will definitely be nerve wracking!

Back to read the rest of the thread.

Yes, but I'm not having just beer for dinner. I will however, have beer with dinner.

  • I am out for a while ladies, I have some shopping to do tonight and a repeat of dinner from last night. aka, ICECREAM. Think I will hit up Coldstone while I am out. Bonus to H not being around for dinner. The dog sure doesn't mind!
  • See, I have a really long torso, so if I have kids, I will not be one of those cute pregnant ladies with the big belly. I'll be perpetually at the "baby or beer baby?" stage.

    Posted by crfb87
I don't see why that means you're voting for the mac and cheese. You, me, and your sig all know that you're REALLY voting for a glass of beer for dinner with a glass of beer on the side.

  • Well, except for Chrissy's vote of two beers, it was unanimous, so I'm heating up the macaroni right now.

You know, I truly do expect to someday come home from work and find Chrissy on my sofa with a pint in her hand all "hey, biiiitch, where's that beer cheddar soup you promised me?"
  • Jesse, if I could afford it, I would buy a bigger-ticket item. That's what I did when my sister had my nephew. I was 21 and I saved up to get her something nice, because I'm close to her and I knew it would mean a lot to her.

I think I got her something in the $100 range.

BTW, having a nephew is SOOO much fun! Mine was here today for the afternoon, and while he was waiting out the rainstorm (he really wanted to go swimming), I was able to snap this picture:

You'll be totally adorable. If my fatass can pull it off, you can too. ;)
  • CUTE, Jess!

    Muni, mac & cheese. Yum.

Angel, OCTOBER? Holy cripes, that is just cruel.

DD is coming over soon to do I'm-not-sure-what. We found sheet music to the Metallica song they want played on the piano during unity sand thing. Score! Pretty sure it will be the first time THAT's been played in our church.

  • Lynda, I hope your foot feels better. Hopefully the dermatologist will be able to do something more concrete than just give you painkillers.

Jess, I don't blame you for kind of wanting him to skip church. I would want to see him, and it's just one week. I'm not religous though, so there's that.

MK, sorry to hear about your Macbook. I've had mine for just over a year and it's functioning just as well as when I got it, but I wonder if I should upgrade to the Lion operating system. And I should definitely back my stuff up.

Also, Edie, I loved that SVU episode. It was a combination of the Casey Anthony case and then the vaccination debate.

I just got off the phone with FI. He said he felt like he knew what he was doing on the exam, but that he can't really be sure. I think that's a pretty good sign though.
    imageWedding Countdown Ticker
  • Angel, I'd take that as a good sign.

Is it weird that even though we have central vac in our new house that I prefer to use the old regular vaccuum? I don't like the bulit-in. I don't know why. Maybe I just fear change.

  • Thanks Wally! :)

Angel, I would never ask him to miss church. I don't really care for the Tuesday night service we have, so I don't go, but he enjoys it, and I think that he does something to help...maybe runs the soundboard or something...but it was just annoying to me, but I'm already over it. :)

That's the good thing about my m-swings...as quickly as I get in them, I'm usually over them fast. :)

I've never used a central vac, but to me, it's like a dream contraption. But I would only love it as long as it wasn't a PITA to use.

It's not necessarily a PITA, it's just different. H INSISTED we have it. So maybe that is why I'm resisting. The one thing that is really cool is the 'dust slots' under the toekick of the kitchen islands. You sweep stuff right up to them, kick a button and it sucks it down. But other than that, I'm not sold.

  • Jess, you do look great. I love it when ladies get to that stage where they can rest things on their bellies.

Wally, I haven't seen a central vac system in probably 20 years. I had no idea they were still an option.

And now I want soft pretzels with beer cheese sauce.

  • We had central vac in our house growing up. I FUCKKKKKKKING LOOOOOOVED IT
Thanks for the input Jess. Anyone else have any thoughts on the baby gift? FWIW, we are gifting them the beginnings of a baby's first library. (And a nephew or aunt bib, which ever one I find that is more adorable, just because). I just need to figure out how much to spend on the "library".
    Posted by mrs.jesse
I love that you're starting the library!

Maybe check out books at Half Price Books so you can get more bang for your buck.

I think you should just spend whatever you're comfortable with. You said that money isn't really an issue, so just pick a number that you feel is appropriate and have fun getting him books!
