I was like wow, it must be really hard to find that size! ETA - Also, I just "got" the title of the thread. Don't mind me, apparently I'm slow today..

    Far from it! Haha.

  • Maybe someone in higher ups really doesn't want LC to be mod so they are trying everything they can to mess up every thread.

[QUOTE]Did you read Mery's post about Dot? Something like "I wish Dot would GBCK for real. She scares me like the kid in high school who brings a gun to school." <- something like that. Mara response was hilarious (I hope I get it semi right). "Well, we could say the same thing about you Mery, but it would be death by 7 paragraph ramblings and finger waving 2 hours after the fact." <- something along those lines. Then FFF died.

<div>I missed most of it but when I quick skimmed before it poofed I thought I saw Mery say something about how it pissed her off that it was a petite woman who was breastfeeding the not so little one. I rolled my eyes pretty hard at that. </div>

Hahaha yea that was pretty lame. Would she have been okay with it had it been an overweight mom? Some moms have good genes and some work hard to be in shape. More kudos to her. I wish I looked like that now much less after having a kid.

MuSu- I'm not a Mery fan, obviously, and I cannot think of anyone who is so its weird she's back at all.

  • MK, it is.  But I know it will actually be good for his career down the road, having both the business side and design thing down.  He wants to start his own firm someday.  His dad has a firm and H was their marketing director for the past few years so he's pretty much grown up in the industry.

He realized he also has a passion for design and is getting the formal training to back it up.  His program is ranked second in the nation after Harvard GSD. Gosh, I'm totally bragging about him everywhere today...I'm just so excited to get him back for a few months!

  • I didn't see Mery's breastfeeding comment, but I did see her comment about Dot. I don't really know Dot at all, but from what I have seen, she seems nice, so I thought that was going a little bit far. It kind of made me see why people don't like Mery.

I used to like Mery a lot.  But she changed over the years.  So have I, I know, but in different ways (I hope!).
  • Wait she didn't like that a thin woman was breastfeeding an older toddler? Just because she is thin so that means she is more attractive for the cover or something? FFS, Mery's anti-skinny compaign is tireless.

<div>I didn't get why that mattered either. I mean, I get what she was saying about how they made the kid look bigger than he really is, but I don't see how what the mom looks like has anything to do with it.</div>

Those darned hamsters hate me.  And LC (apparently).
  • Oh I guess I misunderstood what you guys meant that she said. That is still pretty dumb. Overweight moms don't make their kids look bigger or smaller.

<div>What she said regarding the kid looking bigger was that they had him stand on a chair so he was standing up and breastfeeding instead of sitting with his mother like he normally would be. She didn't say that the smaller mom made the kid look bigger - at least that's not how I read it.</div>

Exactly. Clearly the woman was bigger, then burned extra calories by breastfeeding for so many years and lost the weight. Duh!

I mean, they had to find a woman willing to do the shoot, I'm sure they didn't have a huge pool to pick from. But it's neither here or there.
  • Ok well now i just don't even get her point.

Wasn't her point that the cover mom was short/petite, so it looked even weirder with him breastfeeding?

I realize that I wasn't being clear.  Sorry.  I mean: tall kid, short mom = weird-looking breastfeeding pair.

I thought that's what her point was to Mica. Like her petite size and him standing on a chair made it even more outrageous. Made it look like he was even older almost.

  • Imma be honest. I wouldn't care if the mom was 6'4 and 300 pounds. It would still look weird to me.
    image
  • I completely missed Mery's post about the article/cover but I'm gonna go ahead and throw it out there that I think it's weird as fuuck for a child that old to be breastfeeding. Drinking bottled breast milk for it's benefits, cool whatever. But actual breastfeeding is weird to me.

<div>The way I read it was that the mom being petite was a seperate issue to the child looking larger than he is. But I could have misunderstood. </div>
  • I'm with Musu on this one. If a mother wants to do extended breast feeding, I really don't see why she shouldn't but seeing it on a magazine is still startling, ya know? Of course, that was definitely the point of the cover photo.
  • You may be right Mica, I barely read it on my phone and the thread was gone. After her thin privilege shiit I can't help but read everything she says like that.
  • I'm confused, but anyways. What do you think of my boots (to be clear wedding boots)

Mk, your food Pins are killing my diet.

  • Yeah, Leisel. I know that the point was to be sensationlist. But I don't think my reaction would've been any different for a bigger/taller mom.

I agree, MS.  I think it's weird when the kid is speaking in full sentences and still breastfeeding.
