Re: I Judge

  • I judge Moose and Brie for making this thread totally about dogs.
  • Right. Of course. We should all want to talk about the same stuff.

    ok then.

I recently went on a trip and bought Blockade Billy at the airport, then accidentally left it on the plane, cause I'm a genius. it didn't really hold my interest though. I'm not in love with his baseball stories. is the one this fall the one about the Dark Tower??
    Posted by laladypoet
It wasnt very good anyways. I liked the other little story after blockade billy more. I think the one in the fall is a collection of 4 novellas? I forget the name of it (of course), but I dont think the dark tower one is really made yet. I know he said he was working on another dark tower one though.

  • Wow, I agree with a lot of these judgements today! I did get my dog from a breeder because I really wanted a Miniature Pinscher. I have since learned however that there is a min pin rescue site and will use it in the future. There are lots of pinnies in need of good homes. I also judge people who leave their shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot. Some people are still paying for their cars and would prefer to not have a dent in it due to your stupidity. I also judge people who put there children in pageants. Just for kicks I watched an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras. I felt so bad for some of these kids! Furthermore, their dresses (which they will grow out of after wearing twice) cost more than my freaking wedding gown.

between books 4 and 5?? I only cried in the 7th book... like 4 times.

The second story was called morality or something. This old man paid this woman to do something and film it and it was all psychological. It was a bit more gripping. I think for all the hype that went into blockade billy, it was just a boring story - stranger shows up and is an awesome catcher, then they find out he isnt who he says he is, the end - soooooo compelling *eyeroll*.
Y'know, as much as I don't necessarily agree with PETA's tactics, there was a thread on SB yesterday that I was totally judging. It was spun off from the PP who was talking about buying good dog food. She said iams is crappy dog food, so another poster started a thread that was basically like "PETA is stupid, fur and meat are awesome! YAY FUR, HUNTING, AND MEAT!" Oh, and fur and meat chick also loves to breed dogs. So, full circle here.
In Response to Re: I Judge : I volunteer for two shelters who only kill for health or serious behaviour problems. I also missed the thread where you were throwing out random statistics about the % of breeders that are reputable. First. If you're going to get a dog from a breeder, you need to do your research, beyond the AKC. Really. Gah. In most cases, a breeder will have most of the puppies spoken for before the dog is bred, so you can't just stop in a pick a puppy on a whim. You've made a decision about bred dogs and that's fine. But it might be helpful if you actually read what people are saying to you rather that spouting off rhetoric and false statistics. I'm talking about the realities of animals that end up in shelters. Sure, they're not all like that. But if you're adopting from a shelter OR buying from a breeder you need to be aware of the issues with either. Neither is a perfect choice and I will not judge someone for making an educated choice either way.
    Posted by wadingmoose
Fair enough. I actually agree, so long as the person is actually educated on both sides of the coin. My OP was mainly a reaction what I've seen, personally--I've never known someone to carefully consider the actual risks/benefits of shelter/truly reputable breeder before buying a dog. If they did that, and decided they honestly would prefer a dog from a good breeder, fine. Most situations I've seen have been, "Oh, shelter dogs come with tons of problems, we bought our dog from a breeder. We did research, see these AKC papers?" which just sucks.

It's not easy, but you pretty much need to just jump in and start talking. It's even worse because for awhile it'll feel like you're talking to yourself.

Hell, some days I still feel like I'm talking to myself.

morbid or not, I wanna know too. I don't think I was very sad when Jake died, cause he'd died before. but I may have cried, I don't remember that part. I remember beaking the eff down when Eddie and Oy died. :((((
  • I judge the wedding I have to go to next week. First the invitation came to Mr. and Mrs. jnic (I laughed and called my parents to let them know they were invited not us) it's my FI college roommate which makes it more effed up. a) we aren't Mr. and Mrs. for 2.5 more months and b) we will never be mr. and mrs. jnic...idiots.

I also judge this same couple for giving the impression to all of their bridal party members (a few of which are also close friends of mine and fi and in our wedding) that their s/o would be invited, then calling two weeks ago to let them know "no ring, no invite" so the one guy has to leave his gf at home (they live together) and the other already paid for the traveling for his gf of a year (who are talking about marriage) so she's coming and sitting in the hotel. They are leaving right after the toast, again, idiots.

Lastly I judge the bride at this wedding for inviting 100 of their 120 guests and giving the groom a 20 people allotment.

Why am I even going to this wedding? Because I RSVP'd yes and hate to make them pay for my plate and not show up :-(

I think it was just that jake had become more of a full character by that point, and you had spent 6 books along side him. I think I was just more sad for roland, which made me sad. I love those books so much. I wish to god they would just make a movie of it and let it become the best book and movie series of all time.
