I Judge

Re: I Judge

  • Brie was the only one who responded and I thought Amoro had a good response to that.

Mery, definitely but where I get my pets from is none of your business either.  It's not a matter whose business it is.  We're already talking about it and voicing opinions.  It's already out there.

Children and dogs, like I said before, are not the same thing but the principle is, in my eyes.  I'm not going to have my judgey pants on about adoption but then only get my dogs from a breeder.

  • oh, and for the man in black, I say willam defoe, christopher walken, or viggo mortenson.
  • I also wouldn't adopt a dog at first impulse.  I thought long and hard before adopting my dog.

And, as LC said, apples to oranges.  Dogs are not the same as children.  I can handle a dog with emotional problems, but I don't honestly think I'd be capable of doing a good job with a kid with similar issues from abuse.  But I would consider adoption.

Another huge difference is that a dog is a 10-15 year commitment... a kid, not so much.

I was thinking of this the other day.  I judge people who smoke.  I'll still be your friend, but I might think less of you.

(You hear that, brother Tom.  I'm talking to you.  Stop this dang smoking!!  Okay, first get back from Afghanistan, then stop smoking.  It's disgusting!  But thanks for not doing it around me.  If only your friends were so polite.)

  • Breeders DO kill puppies that do not conform to the breed.  Not all of them but some of them and that's enough for me.

Get your dogs wherever you want to, Andyandhillary, I can still judge you if you go to a breeder.  That is the joy of judgement.  I have plenty to go around.

Ok, I know you guys aren't stupid.  I said twice (now three) times that they aren't the same thing.  I just think people are full of it when they harp about breeding dogs and then MUST have their own baby.  I think that argument is ridiculous.

And, I assume you didn't mean it this way, but your comment makes it sound like adopting a child (even an infant) would be bad because you don't know what you're getting.  I assume you didn't mean that, but be careful because that could be hurtful.

  • yeah. these pearls are made of puppy eyes.
  • I do judge people who want their own children because they want kids who look like them/want to perpetuate their genes/want to see how their genes and their husband's genes will combine. Kids aren't science experiments.

But I've also said (recently) that humans /> animals. While people do need to think long and hard before adopting a pet (which is, like kiki said, a 10-15 year commitment) they should probably think harder about having a kid in any form.

  • Well, I read it like that because multiple people have said things like that to me and my parents regarding me being adopted.  So it's not as far flung as you may think.
