Sunday Evening

Re: Sunday Evening

  • That is so sad about Usher's stepson.  It's amazing how life can change in a split second.  I really can't even begin to imagine what it's like to lose a child. :(

  • No, hairless as in bad groom job - the groomer in training clipped him with either a 40# or 50# surgical. And, he was supposed to be a lion cut, but it's more of a bauble head cut, there's no ruff left on the cat. He's pathetic looking. His fur is starting to come back in, I can no longer see his skin on his back though. At least the clip job was cheap.

I love when animals look at you like you're crazy when you do something like that, but seem offended when you laugh when they choose to lick their butt in the middle of the room like it's a show.

    No one is promised tomorrow.

I know I've mentioned my friend before - she was a week past her 60th birthday and had a massive heart attack in the main kitchen of the house we shared on a Monday morning. Losing a loved one (she was the best friend I've ever had and my 'Winston Salem Mother') suddenly is hard in so many ways. I still miss her so much.

My FIL also died at 60 of a brain tumor 4 months after his diagnosis.

Life is so short and no one in our lives are promised tomorrow. DH and I have both lost some friends to sudden deaths recently and it's made me more appreciative of the time we have.

I okayed the apprentice to groom him for a half price cut, so I didn't want to gripe too much. I did call and give her some feedback. Like - you effed up my cat and I can see his skin. But, we usually pay $60 - $70 for his summer clip and paid $15, so I can live with it.

And, there's no way he'll have to be done again this year. In fact, I think I might have to make him a sweater. I don't know that he'll have hair before it gets cold.

  • We can't find anyone to groom cats. The pet places discriminate. Sigh.

Now I want DS Oreos. Jess, your H sounds like a keeper.

Why do we always end up talking about food?
    image
  • Because, Wally, food is amazing.
  • OMG that pup is so cute. Poor baby having a bath.

Yup, life can change in an instant. Ours really did change forever the day my H got hit by the semi. But at least he is here. And really doing amazingly well. We waited for him to wake up for days. They thought he was brain dead at first. It was so horrible with my H, I cannot even imagine having it be a child.

    Our PetCo grooms cats.

Yes, H is a keeper. He is super sweet, and even sweeter now that I'm all KU.

And as far as food goes...it's because it's delicius.

The funniest part of this is that Rachel doesn't cook, hence the beef trifle at Thanksgiving, haha. It was still a funny joke on the writers' part though, even if it didn't make sense.

<div>I can't even imagine this. I'm SO happy he pulled through.</div>
  • Agreed, Stefffi.  I've lost several family members and have been fortunate enough not to lose any friends or immediate family.  One of the girls who lived in my hall my freshman year was murdered and that was a very surreal moment and a huge reality check for a lot of us.  When I was 19, I never thought anything that like would ever happen to anyone I knew.

That same year I found out that the girl who was my lab partner in biology in high school was living at home with her parents still.  Her mom was a teacher and she became distraught about some debt issues the family had.  Her solution was to shoot each and every member of her family as they woke up on a weekend morning.  The newspaper article was far more detailed, and I honestly cried off and on about it for weeks.  Tomorrow is certainly not guaranteed to any of us, but I admit that sometimes I get so busy with day-to-day life that I take it for granted.

That's because most cats are like Tim. Last time she got sick and required a vet visit the vet, the tech, and my friend all ended up at urgent care for wound care. Now we drug the cat prior to vet visits. I can't imagine having her groomed. She'd kill the groomer.

Hairless Cat (Leo) doesn't even require sedation for grooming. He's so easy.

Yeah, the accident was in 2009; total defining moment for our family. But you learn a lot about who you really are and what's important. Things like that don't always happen to the neighbor, y'know? Sometimes, it's you or your family.

Angel, your stories are horrific! Holy crap.

My first-world-problem of the moment? Deciding if i want Double Stuf Oreos & milk, or do I want to save my milk for in the morning?

    Decisions are the worst!
  • Jess, definitely the Oreos and milk!

  • Angelsong - My friend's death was investigated as a possible homicide until the intial autopsy reports came back due to some of the situation at the house that morning. It was the worst thing I've ever gone through and the EMTs and police who responded were really incredible to me. I was relatively new to town and had no one to call to come help me or be with me. Many of us think my friend commited suicide because she quit taking her heart medication prior to her death. I don't know. I still struggle to make peace with the situation.

Our guy gets groomed to reduce the amount of hair in the house and he gets hot in the summer time.

<div>OMG! I don't know how my cats would do. The little one hates even going outdoors. Even if you carry her and just step outside, she trembles. The big one meows her head off (a loud, pathetic meow) when she is on the way to the vet. Then EVERY SINGLE TIME she poops on the way home. In her pet carrier thing. It's disgusting. We drive home with the sunroof and windows open no matter the temps. Good times.</div>

  • Stefffi, I can't imagine what it was like to be in your shoes.  Having no one else to call or turn to would be incredibly hard.  On top of all of that, not to have complete closure would be difficult to deal with.  I hope that you have been able to find some peace.  It sounds like had a great friend in you.

Pass me one, Jess!  I haven't had Oreos in forever.  I'm still munching on wedding cake.  Mmm, cake...
