Good morning!

Wake up, it's Monday!

How is everyone?

My whole back and both of my arms are in pain.  I spent 6 hours doing manual labor in my front yard, probably not the best choice of exercise after not doing anything for a few weeks.

Hey Mica, Life is good.  My daughter left this morning to go back to college.  We had a fun weekend.  Just looked at my work schedule for the week and it does not look too bad.  Yay for me.

Gardening/Landscaping seems to use muscles you do not know you have.  Ouch.  Very satisfying in the end when they start to fill in and bloom.
  • Morning!  I am freakin' exhausted.  Was up until about quarter of one AM last night.  But the second paper is half-done, so let's hope it was worth it.

Didn't do too much this weekend besides procrastinate, bought some stuff for my new place (well, just bought some new glassware, that's about it), and did some laundry.  And some firespinning on Saturday night.  That was a lot of fun.

Hope you feel less achy later, Mica!

  • Morning Ski!

Bay, did you find an apartment yet?
  • Good Mt. Dew Morning. I am exhausted.

Mica, I hope your arms & back feel better.

Ski, glad your weekend with your daughter was great!

FI is officially moved out of his old apartment but I didn't get home until 10:30 last night because it took us longer than anticipated to clean everything and get the remaining boxes out. Shampooing carpet in almost complete darkness is not easy.
  • Not yet, Mica.  I've been looking daily on CL for places, but nothing really jumps out at me thus far.  Semester doesn't officially end for two weeks, and I told H that I'm not moving out and into a slum, I'm waiting for a place that I know I can live in long-term.  My hope is that I'll be out by June.

  • Midge -- you are a saint for shampooing FI's carpet on a Sunday night.  I would have told H to suck up the cleaning fee and the deposit ding.

  • Morning, all. Blech, Monday. But in a freak occurance, I have NO obligations after work until Friday's riding lessons. I cannot remember the last time that happened.

Weekend was good. Older daughter sang a solo in church yesterday morning and NAILED IT! It literally brought tears to my eyes, as well as to her grandfather (who was preparing Communion at the time). Had a picnic at the lake last night, first of the year. GA weather is being particularly bi-polar this year. Last Tuesday morning, it was in the upper 30's. Yesterday's high was 89. Hard to know when to put the winter clothes and blankets away.
  • That's so sweet, Sara!

Midge, ditto Mica.  I don't know if I am that nice a person.  I'm pretty sure I'm not, ha ha.

  • We both actually shampooed - about equally. What I will claim sainthood for is picking animal hair out of the tub drain holes so the nasty water from the rented shampooer would go down the drain. Guess the person who rented the shampooer before us had a pet.
  • LTB< I've never quit smoking, so I can't judge on that one. But, my sense of smell got particularly acute when I was pregnent. Innocent

  • Morning! It's been raining here for days.  I just want to stay in bed.

  • Morning all!

I'm back at work today after a week gone, and I can only hope this week is a hell of a lot better than last week.  Ugh.

We had FI's grandma's funeral last week, he found out some not so great news at work, and then my little brother broke up with his fiancee (they were supposed to be getting married at the beginning of June).  And, of course FI and I kept getting into these annoying little fights, primarily stress induced.

Anyway, here's hoping this week is much better.

And Midge, I agree.  I'm not sure if I would have picked out wet animal hair.  Gross.

  • Good Morning.  I have a weird headache just on the right side of my head.  It's annoying.

I had the best weekend, very relaxing and it actually felt long like a weekend should!  That was unexpected and great.
  • LTB, my mom quit smoking about five years ago, and yes, I'd say around the 5ish month mark she suddenly noticed how everything smelled.  She still has moments where she asks us "Has X always smelled that bad?"  It's kind of amazing, actually.  Also, congrats on quitting!

And carpets are 100% FI's job around here, so I'm team "Midge is a saint."

  • Stack, I get sinus headaches like that, are you stuffed up on one side?

  • Thanks for reminding me.  My mom is coming over this weekend and I need to give her her carpet cleaner back.  I'm going to try to get the carpets cleaned before she does.  She's also taking back her awesome casserole dish so I should find something to cook in that before then too.  :)
  • Nope, I'm not stuffed up, but I did sleep with a window open last night, so that's probably what it is.  It didn't even start until like 4am this morning.
  • Here is to a better week Dumdum, ouch, when it rains it pours!

We saw The Lucky One this weekend, such a great movie.  I cried like 5 times (minimum)
  • Weird, Stack.  Hope it goes away soon.

  • *hugs* Froggie!

I hope your weird headache goes bye-bye soon Stacks!

We would have used my parent's shampooer but we found out this past Christmas that it only lays down the foam and doesn't suck it back up. My aunt/uncle have the same one, bought the same year by my grandparents and theirs doesn't lay down the foam but it sucks it up. Go figure.
  • Good morning.  I'm exhausted from an amazing weekend with my mom and our family friends here for a girls weekend.  We had so much fun and went to lots of new places for me here.  By the time H ever gets here I'm going to know all the ins and outs of this place (hopefully).

I have a pretty quiet week ahead, pretty much just getting myself and the dgos ready to drive home on Saturday for 2 weeks!  I'm so excited to go, just not so excited about that drive by myself with the dogs.  But I figure after 6 days of cross country driving, this drive should feel like a piece of cake.

Stacks- my sinuses are always a mess in the morning, and if the window is open I feel like I am in the middle of the worst cold ever.  Hopefully it wears off for you.

Bay- good luck with the search.  Are things pretty amicable at home?  Or is it getting worse?

  • Morning all.  I'm sore too this morning but it's from playing paintball on Saturday, so totally my own fault.  I really need to get back to the gym (and stop eating all of FI's junk food) and lose all this stupid weight I've gained since FI moved in.  I've been putting off dress shopping after the first time cause I just felt icky in the dresses.  Once I lose 10lbs, I'll get back out there to look.  My mom said I need to get him a lock box for his crap cause I have absolutely no will power if it's in the house.

  • Question: For all you ladies who've purchased a home, what's the typical downpayment?  Is it a percentage of the cost?  Trying to figure out if we're in a place that we could afford the downpayment before our lease is up in 2 months.

<div>It's changed since I bought mine (I actually didn't have a downpayment), but I think they generally say 20%.</div>

<div>We didn't need a downpayment for our loan, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be about 20%.  I think it really depends on your bank and the loan though.  </div>

  • DNB -- Thanks.  It's not bad, just really awkward.  H wants to be separated but he hasn't told anyone and he isn't making any moves to divide our things or make any decisions, etc.  I told him off on Saturday because we had friends over and he was being really sweet and "normal" to me, but then as soon as they left he reverted back to cold and distant, and that really pissed me off.  He has the next four evenings off from work, so tonight I'm going to sit him down with a list and we're going to go over everything that needs to be done, what belongs to who, etc.  I realize that he's really immature in a lot of ways, but this separation was his decision, and he needs to start facing it like an adult.

  • Bay - I know plenty of people have told you this already but I have to tell you that you are handling all of this sooooo much better than I would be.  I'm really impressed with your ability to keep moving forward and finishing your semester while dealing with everything at home.  I'd just be a huge mess.

  • That's shitty Bay.  I really don't like your H, and I probably would have junk punched him long ago if I were you.  I still might fly to Bay-town and do it anyways.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Oh Bay, you have every right to be upset with H about that behavior. Like you said, he needs to face his decision like an adult and stop being two-faced to you. You deserve so much better than that and I know you'll find it.

Both houses I've purchased, I've put 20% down. If you have less than that, typically your have to pay PMI as well.
