  • Dangit that picture crapped out. Stupid. Good night Loopy!

It made me sad that people even cared what race she was. Like, I know they wouldn't have made Katniss black but even if they had, it shouldn't matter. Anyone could've had her personality.

She is cute Musu. I am not sure she can play a 16 year old, but damn if I know, since I thought Peeta and Gale were awful casting but they both turned out amazing.

</div><div>And my understanding of the HG uproar revolves around the little girl that was supposed to look like her sister dieing. They made the girl black, and people argued that because of that it was less sad, because she looked less like her sister. I haven't actually read those books either, that's just what I've gathered from reading about it.</div>
  • Yeah, Jurnee is only 25 and played a 16/17 year old last year for Friday Night Lights, which is why I thought of her.

I like to take FNL actors and put them into anything I can, mainly because I think the actors in that show are some of the best out there. heh.

  • Oooh Kat Graham from the vampire diaries would be good.

</div><div>She didn't look like Prim (Katniss's sister), she just reminded her of Prim, like in their physical smallness and being younger. The book was clear on making Prim a dark skinned person because that is what most of her District was. </div>

  • Oh shes cute too, Shan! Yeah the book said Christina was really pretty, or at least thats how Tris viewed her.

<div>Yeah I think people who got upset over it misinterpreted what the author meant by Rue reminding Katniss of her sister. I think honestly the main reason was because of Rue being young (I think 11) and therefore just making an automatic connection to her younger sister since she missed her and cared for her so much. </div>

  • I have never seen FNL before.

Poke, the similarities were mostly just that she was small and 12. Katniss is very protective of Prim, so she really wanted to protect this tiny 12 year old girl up against crazy 17-18 year old trained killers. But she was described as dark skin in the book. But I actually say Tweets that said "OMG I didn't know Rue was black! I wouldn't have cried for her if I had known!" So yeah, people are shitty.

    <div>Seriously? Lame. </div>
  • Oh you have to see HG holly! I loved it. I even saw it twice. It was one of the best movie adaptations I thought, and even H and all of my guy friends liked it too, and they had no clue what happened in the books, so it's nice that they are able to cater to non readers without f ucking everything up.
  • I am like FNLs biggest fan, and I get obnoxious about it. lol.

I never put a face on Caleb though, I'm not sure why.
    image
  • The whole thing was just ridiculous. Things get interpreted differently to people and some read things to mean something else. The people who cast the movie saw this girl as Rue and that was their interpretation of it. There was really no need for people to get up in arms over her race.

Yeah! I think it was yahoo or something that c&ped a whole bunch of tweets and put the article on the front page and the people ended up getting death threats and stuff and had to shut their twitters down. Now I'm not for murdering or anything, but they sort of deserved it. :D
  • It makes me really sad that there are people who would purposely not cry over a little girl just because she is black.

</div><div>I skimmed that article. I saw some funny replies like "Why did Frederick Douglass have to be black? Totally ruined the abolitionist movement." or something of the sort. </div><div>
</div><div>I would have to seriously re-evalue my friendship with someone that thinks like that though.

  • Holly you can get tickets without a specific showtime?
    image
  • Oh, thats cool Holly!
    image
  • Haha good point, Holly. :)

  • I feel so lame but every time she talked about Uriah I can only see Urijah Faber in my head. I obviously associate names with faces automatically.

But like I said, I have not read insurgent so I don't even know if he is in this one. I wouldn't be surprised if they left him out of the movie. I like his character though.

  • I want to go to the movies. I almost dont' even care what I see. I haven't been in forever.

Actually, I take that back. I went back in Feb with FI to the second chance theater to see Puss in Boots. It wasn't terrible but I was glad we only paid $3 each for the tickets.

[QUOTE]Our problem is that my sister wants to come see HG with us, and it's hard to schedule when she won't have her kids so we can go.  The 9 year old could go with us, but <strong>I'm not taking a 2 and 3 year old to a theater. </strong>

  • lol I definitely do not picture that guy as Uriah. Uriah is in Insurgent, but that doesn't really spoil anything at all.

  • I had a friend that took his 3 year old to see Batman at a midnight showing once. Yeah he screamed for the first 20 minutes that he was tired and wanted to go home. So my friend wasted $25 for both of them to see it and had to leave after 20 minutes.

  • C, that person doesn't sound very bright. I would never take my young child to any movie that wasn't a kids movie, MUCH less a movie at midnight, ever. If you can't get a babysitter, you should probably wait until you can.
    image
  • Sounders - why did your friend think that was a good idea? I mean, dont' get me wrong - toddlers can have a ton of fun at a movie theater. But Batman....at midnight?
