monsta -- did I ever tell you I once saw a guy that looked like professor professorson at my local grocery store, we made eye contact and I immediately thought he looked like him. I havnt seen him again since, and we shop there atleast twice a week. SO WEIRD. I feel you would appreciate that.
• Jas and Mand, when my grandfather was progressing through his Alzheimers (i know you're talking about children, but I still think its a little relevant), the one thing he could remember to do was play the piano. He was a Methodist minister and played hymns all the time, even before he was sick, and that ability stayed with him for a long time into his illness.

I think once the playing stopped, he really started going downhill and becoming bedridden. But he always wanted to hear the hymns and gospel songs he loved, so they had a multi-CD player in his room playing all the time.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
Totally Mand. Could music potentially blend episodic and semantic memory for people with severe brain injuries? Is that where the emotional componenet would come in? ETA: Punctuation is important when asking questions.
Posted by jasmineh7777
That's what I'm thinking! :) It's made me kind of obsessed with music.  I think I irritate people, when I whip it out in social situations.  Nobody wants to hear me excitedly talk about memory formation/retention/recall and then hear about how this particular song on the jukebox has the ability to evoke very particular emotions... they do everything short of slapping me.

He was wearing a smock, I didnt get a good look at his elbows. Its going to drive me nuts if I never see him again. He worked there, I mean, he wasnt just "there".
• I loved the Dean entrance-sequence that they did this year.

I love Troy (my lover, Mr. Glover).  Troy will be my brother-husband.

Donald glover is one of my favourite people, I found out recently he is doing a show in Toronto and I nearly lost my shiit until I found out it was sold out :(
• He just did one at Bowery and I was SO ANNOYED because I found out a week after it happened.  I'm definitely making it to the next show.

I think a little display of your zombie skills, what you would bring to the table as a regular roomate and in the event of an attack, and your bra size.
• Well I am loving this discussion about music and cognition, Mand (and Jas). So feel free to bring it up anytime I'm around. ;)

I haven't worked with any music therapists, but I am fascinated with art therapy, and working with kids and their drawings. It's mostly projective information that comes from it, but I think it's a bonding and therapeutic experience to make art together as well.

So, email me and help me write it. And I can do the bra size thing. They may be able to tell just when I send the email anyway..
• Missy- You're right; it should apply across all ages. I can't remember if you have a psych background, so I apologize if you already know this and it is redundant!
Semantic memory is  the stuff we memorize: ie Math Facts
Episodic memory is the stuff we experienced: ie That time in math class that my pants split.

Music (in theory?) could involve both. I know how I play the piano, and I used to play it for my wife at night. I feel happy when I play piano (because it reminds me of hanging out with my wife.)

Mand, I am the same way with my interests. My poor husband had to listen to me Squee! for 20 minutes when I got home about theories of autism. He smiled and nodded politely. haha

• Jas, I hope you know I love you so much.  I just realized I didn't name you as one of my favorites. I'm such a turd.

This is the problem of that question.  I love mostly everyone.

Amazing. Thank you, I really love this. :)

Don't worry Jas, I first saw StumbleUpon only last year in one of Roxy's posts.

Mand, one of these days when J&K, Fishy and Poli are here with the rest of us, we'll have to talk psych some more. And I know there are more psych folks out there too!
