If people genuinely lurked, they'd get both a feel for how long a thread is alive and would understand not to post in it. Also, the little ticker of how long ago someone posted should be an indication for someone with reasonable analytic skills. IMO.

When is/was the wedding? No set date yet, but we're looking at April 2012

How did he propose? He set up a 'secret date day' which we do from time to time. He tells me what to wear and I go with it. We ended up at the airport. Quick flight to Vegas and we were checking into the Paris hotel. I'd wanted to check out the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower there, so we did that first thing after checking in. Then at the top, looking over the city, he proposed. We finished off the french themed day with dinner at Le Cirque.
He had wanted to propose at the actual Eiffel Tower when we go there this coming spring, but he said he didn't want to wait that long.
He even managed to pack a suitcase for me, complete with all of my makeup and beauty stuff. Come to find out, on one of our recent trips, he had taken photos of what I had brought with me so that he could double check that he got everything I'd need.
Why are you lurking on SB? The vibe on here just fits my personality better than some of the other boards. And since I either come in late to threads or have nothing profound to add without reiterating other posters, I just don't post as much.
Favorite posters? Nugget, OWN, BlueEyes, Anna, AATB...There are more but I'm blanking right now.
Least favorite posters? Betrothed sometimes says things that rub me the wrong way. But other times she seems cool. Sometimes YIO makes me turn my head like a dog that hears a weird sound. But then again, sometimes that can be entertaining. I guess I'm just still on the fence with them.
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? No one, really. There are a few BSC people at times, but no one I'm afraid of.
...What flavor latte should I go get? I'm thirsty and cold. I'm sure this is moot by now, but 'tis the season for pumpkin spice lattes.

This is why I'm confused a lot of the time, because people say it sucks that old threads are kept alive by people who don't know when to stop posting. My settings are like yours, so I never see those old threads unless I go looking for them. I never knew there were different settings.
How did you meet your guy? Yahoo Personals - way back in the day before Match, eHarmony or needing to pay for such things. He ended being the only one that wasn't creeptastic.
How did he propose? Total surprise, during our West Coast vacation last year - Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. He told me later that a trip he had made out there a couple years earlier was recon mission.
Why are you lurking on SB? I like SB, my other favorite is E. You folks all seem to have the most honesty, the best answers and have a lot of fun. I only post here and there...I either show up to late to add anything useful or new; or there seems to be "reg chatter" going on I don't want to interject myself into. Oh, and my snappy comeback turtle seems to be broken lately, so I can't ever think of anything witty to say.
Favorite posters? Not to cop out - but I like all the regs.
Least favorite posters? None of the regs stand out as least favorites - but my least favorites are those that post absolute nonsense without lurking and catching a clue first
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? No one scares the be-jeebus (Help me Jeebus) out of me, but I am sometimes intimidated by the more "in your face" type attitudes from some posters.
...What flavor latte should I go get? I'm thirsty and cold. Easy - peppermint mocha!

OMG it's a check box at the top right corner that I see ALL THE TIME.
See, Nates? Very poor analytical skills, even though I've been here for MONTHS.
How did you meet your guy? Originally we met in elementary school, but "re-met" after we came back to our hometown one weekend and were both at the same table at the local bar when a drunken Elvis impersonator cornered us for tips.
How did he propose? He is a private guy, so it was just the two of us in our new house, cooking dinner together - which is something we love to do - and he asked me. And I burned the pork chops.
Why are you lurking on SB? I like the variations in topic. I like the honesty - you are supportive when you need to be supportive and tell it like it is when someone is being BSC, even if only momentarily.
MandK - mine doesn't always say that though! Sometimes when I see it it's checked and that means I can see sigs. If I uncheck it, then I can't see sigs anymore.
ETA - Yeah okay, I lack the skills too. If you're IN a thread, you check it for sigs. If you're on the board, you check it for thread order.

<strong><font color="#0000ff">I think I'm still a lurker so I'll play....
1. October 1, 2006
2. We met at work through my former roommate.
3. He proposed to me in bed...no, really.
4. I lurk because I'm snarky and I wanted to be around my people. And because I'm MOH in a friend's wedding and want to learn all the rules about wedding planning, showers, etc.
5. I don't really have any favorites, but I like mandapanda - she makes me laugh.
6. I don't have any least favorites, I don't think.
7. No posters scare me.
8. Caramel Latte with whole milk and one sugar ~ enjoy!
How did he propose? At Chrissy Field in San Francisco
Why are you lurking on SB? It's freakin' entertaining. I've been lurking on P&E/E/SB for 3 years (way back in the stefibeth, delicia patricia, frankie, etc days and this place was the original AFSB crew). I don't know why I never really post...I guess I feel weird just jumping in. Sorry if that's creepy.
Favorite posters? AATB, LC, Salt, Nugget, Bec, katiewhompus, East
Least favorite posters? J&K and betrothed have rubbed me the wrong way in some of their posts.
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? No one, it's just the Internet :P
How did he propose? In a garage, in the dark...he was so nervous he was shaking.
Why are you lurking on SB? Well, I was drawn to the name. Then I read the posts and started to like the regulars. I post sometimes but not often. I'm usually too slow to have anything worth while...it's already taken by the time I get there.
Favorite posters? Anysunshine is super adorable, usually Nebb, LTZ, J&K, Cranberry, anna...there are more but I actually know people better by their sig pics.
Least favorite posters? Some times I have "least" favorites but usually it's more like "today i don't seem to agree with..." And although I respect her opinion and usually agree with her, i sometimes think OWN can be too harsh/judgey. Other times she seems so sweet or straight-forward in a nice way. For some reason she sticks out the most in my mind.
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? Sometimes...J&K, OWN
What flavor latte should I go get? This is not coffee but Starbucks has a salted hot chocolate that my dear friend got me hooked on. It's pretty fantastic. Other places might carry it as well, that's just the only place i've had it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Lurkers. Come here. : If people genuinely lurked, they'd get both a feel for how long a thread is alive and would understand not to post in it. Also, the little ticker of how long ago someone posted should be an indication for someone with reasonable analytic skills. IMO.

Aw, crap, I forgot to mention you in my fave posters too.
I think reasonable analytic skills are heads above many TK lurkers, sadly. Then they learn and start posting respectably, but in the meantime... ugh.
I'm open to suggestions though.
I have it in my settings that the newest threads posted are the ones at the top - not the ones that get answered, so, if someone does post in a dead thread, I never see it. I didn't set it this way though, it's just the way TK did it for me.
[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Lurkers. Come here. : Yes, me too. I am not a 'computer' person, and this is the first internet community I have I ever been a part of, so I probably seemed really off when I started posting. I still kinda do. I also didn't understand trolls at first and saw one blowing up on E and rushed in all, "zomg, how can we prove this person's real?! We need evidence!" and I was flamed to hell, lol. From then on I googled terms I didn't understand. "GBCK" eluded me for a while, as well as DED. The funny thing is what turned me around was a link to the "Alot" blog on Hyerbole. I was the eagle and it was like this internet enlightenment that I was annoying people.

I love that. Honestly, I can't even picture that.
I was just super stereotypical. My SN was FutureMslastname, I had an inner bride avatar and two tickers. I was pretty flammable.

Actually, you're right about that in a lot of cases, unfortunately :P.
I might have been crazy when I first started posting, too. I just think, Really? You don't see that the last response was four days ago? But, it's just a small annoyance.
[QUOTE]I love Nebb's Jon Hamm sigs. k8ly - what's on the back of Catholicmatch.com bulletins? Your engagement? I'm confused.

The Catholicmatch.com website was on the back of my FI and I's bulletins.

<div>Haha, I was an analytic failure. It's true though. It's more like on a slow board it's okay to keep things topic related and to post on old threads because if no one did, there would be no conversation. That was my local and my month board. </div><div>

[QUOTE]Well...since I have been Lurking more than posting I suppose I will do this one.... When is/was the wedding? 9-10-11 How did you meet your guy? Online, ended up being friends for several years before dating How did he propose? He took me flying for the first time with him and proposed in the plane (see avatar pic) Why are you lurking on SB? Actually there is some good life coverstation to distract from the whole wedding planning bit... Favorite posters? OWN, Betrothed, Nebb, Tide, Roxy, KW, Blue Least favorite posters? Don't really have one here....my month board yeah I have one... Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? No one...can't say I've ended up toe to toe with anyone, I am pretty easy going and can agree to disagree. I guess at first on TK just "Snarky Brides" kept me away for a while just by the name. ...What flavor latte should I go get? I'm thirsty and cold. peppermint mocha!

You're not a newb! You are a reg that should come around more often!
[QUOTE]So when the thread dies I can just change it to something or someone dead. Like, I dunno. Columbus. He's fairly dead. I'm open to suggestions though. I have it in my settings that the newest threads posted are the ones at the top - not the ones that get answered, so, if someone does post in a dead thread, I never see it. I didn't set it this way though, it's just the way TK did it for me.

Favorite posters? AATB, Roxy, Anysunrise, betrothed
Least favorite posters? Not a fan of the recent Marissa_Claire posts, but need to stick around longer to see for sure
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you? J&K is a little scary, but in a good, honest way.
...What flavor latte should I go get? I'm thirsty and cold. Chai Tea Latte with whole milk. Best ever.
ETA - Yeah okay, I lack the skills too. If you're IN a thread, you check it for sigs. If you're on the board, you check it for thread order.
Feck.

How did you meet your guy?
Church
How did he propose?
At Chrissy Field in San Francisco
Why are you lurking on SB?
It's freakin' entertaining. I've been lurking on P&E/E/SB for 3 years (way back in the stefibeth, delicia patricia, frankie, etc days and this place was the original AFSB crew). I don't know why I never really post...I guess I feel weird just jumping in. Sorry if that's creepy.
Favorite posters?
AATB, LC, Salt, Nugget, Bec, katiewhompus, East
Least favorite posters?
J&K and betrothed have rubbed me the wrong way in some of their posts.
Posters who scare the effin be-jeebus out of you?
No one, it's just the Internet :P

How did you meet your guy?
eHarmony
Ok, do I count as a Newb since I went through the J&K gauntlet? And I'm working on getting more furbaby pictures.
