Agreed. Like, not everybody has to do what I'm doing and get through 150 a year, but come on, pick one up - I guarantee you'll like it.

I was just going to type this.  I mean, I'm not arguing with any soccer fans who know a lot more about the game than I do, but I also get really into Olympic sports.  Are these same people who get really into the Olympics watching college gymnastics and stuff in the off years?  Come on.  It's an international event, it's fun to cheer for your country or just get excited about sport.

I honestly haven't visited their site or an event in a long time so I'm not really sure what their official message is now, but I think the point they are trying to make is that you don't have to be completely wasted to kill someone.  For some people, one drink makes their reaction behind the wheel slower.

And really, what harm are they causing?  It's not like more people will die because of what they are saying.

Alix is in my brain today. I think it's great when a sporting event gets more attention for a sport and/or bring out national pride. But I think it's silly that, for example, a friend who used to be very vocal about how boring soccer is and how she hates that her husband always watches it is now tweeting all the games in real time and making comments like "this player's doing so well!" when he objectively is not playing well. But she wouldn't know that because she doesn't know the rules.

And I don't care about the Olympics, so that doubles as an unpopular opinion and a response to lala :)

Maybe it varies state to state, but I didn't think you could even do that.  In Delaware you have to be unemployed through no fault of your own.

Well, I kind of agree about the texting/phone call thing. I used to answer texts with phone calls because it was just fast to talk to the person, but I guess my friends are all anti-social and prefer texts.

Everything else though? Not so much. In fact, I want to say that my unpopular opinion is "Angela is a twatwaffle" but I don't think that's unpopular.

  • It bothers me that people get more outraged by people harming animals than people.  Don't get me wrong--animal cruelty is disgusting and deplorable in every way.  I'm just thinking of the outcry against Michael Vick (whose actions were evil), when there are NFL players who have KILLED PEOPLE and no one is up in arms about that.  How is that not worse?
  • I find it funny that the people who say "Save your grandma from Obama" are also the ones who want to get rid of social security.

I think people feel more protective of animals because we see them as innocent. and compared to people, they are.
  • I highly dislike the policies of President Obama, his administration, and Congress right now (and I have legit reasons if you want to hear them but you probably won't).

I agree with Dani that an unemployed spouse should do most of the house work, running errands.  Unless you are applying for jobs and what not for 8 or 9 hours a day you can pick up that extra work.

    I think IVF is selfish.

I think Gin tastes like death.

Actually, by expanding the message from one that makes sense - don't drive drunk - to one that is less palatable for people - don't drive if you've even had one drink - they risk becoming a joke and being ignored for both messages, not just the one.

In other words, by overreacting and exaggerating the issue, they could actually cause an increase in drunk driving.

Death? I always thought gin tasted like christmas trees, but I haven't had it in a while.

I remember a video on the news about healthcare reform that made me giggle a lot. There was a bunch of older people screaming that they "didn't want the government to have anything to do with healthcare," because they "liked their medicare the way it is." Huh.

    Edit: didn't see money's post, sorry! :) I still think it's funny.

For me, I know that if someone is found guilty of murdering a person, they're be properly punished for it (or should be).

A kid in a town I used to live in dragged a dog to it's death behind a truck.  He didn't serve jail time.

That's why I'm more outraged when animals are abused in horrible ways.  The person who does it isn't punishable by law sufficiently.

  • I don't like this version of healthcare reform.  I don't know if thats unpopular, though it seems so.

  • please, don't let this turn into an animal horror story thread. I can't take it.
  • Not that I think anyone will care what I say after the comments I just read, but yes, I do have reasons for not liking Obama and I do understand the Healthcare Reform Bill, benefits is part of my job and I have been eating, drinking and breathing it for 2 months now and I don't agree with most parts of it. I know most people don't understand it because I have employees constantly emailing me wanting to know when they can put their 25 year old kid who doesn't have a job and isn't in school back on their insurance.
I also handle unemployment claims for Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana and you can file for unemployment when you get fired. You won't get it, as long as the employer sends in the correct documentation, but the employer still has to take the time to fill out the documentation and attend the hearing when the former employee protests it.

As for the other comments, well...it said unpopular opinions, so, there you have it.

A guy did that to a person in the town I grew up in; he didn't serve time. Somebody later shot the fvck though, so there is that... Though I suppose that could've been totally random, given the time period.
