Re: FFF

  • I love buffets in general, although I get food complexes when I'm actually confronted with them.   I flame north American culture for giving women weird food and weight issues.

Overeating is not the only reason for obesity; some people have legitimate health problems. Comparing it to parents smoking in front of kids isn't really accurate.

Oh, to me those are totally different. If you want to eat yourself into a balloon, you go right ahead. If you're endagering the health of your children, I judge the crap out of you.

I was actually thinking in response to the question Kiki asked a while ago about whether skinny people who think they're fat don't also judge heavier people that I don't judge heavy adults, but I really judge parents with obese children.
  • I have never once felt any oddness at a buffet. I made a conscience decision to go there, why not have my fill? If I wanted to eat sensibly, I would have gone to another restaurant.

  • He actually started the Ass-burger thing, now that I think about it. It was just after his diagnosis and we were talking about some trouble he was having at work. I said "Do you think maybe this has something to do with the Aspergers?" and he yelled "YOU'RE AN ASS-BURGER!!". Never let it be said we don't have humor in our household.

  • I just don't think it's anyone's business if a fat person (or a skinny person) wants to get 2nd, 3rds, 8ths at a buffet.  If I want to eat myself to an early death, that does not affect you.

And clearly, if you are at the buffet and judging those eating there, you're a bit of a hypocrite, no?

Sometimes I do too. I try not to assume that it's because of poor diet, because I don't know that that kid doesn't have an underlying medical condition, but if I see an obese child being fed McDonald's or being plied with candy and ice cream to behave I admit I have some judging action going on.

I judge myself for that there runon sentence.

[QUOTE]OH YEAH. I have one. For a reg. At least, I remember seeing her around as long as I've been around, though she posts kind of sporadically. Bubbalub seemed like a self righteous know it all yesterday when she was all "Do you know the political connitations of that name?" to Baystate. It's not like Bay wanted to name her kid Adolf Hitler Baystate. It's a pretty name and I think it was an unnecessary thing to get preachy about. And I'm sure Bubbalub didn't intend to be preachy, but that's just how it came off.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : H and I went to a buffet a few weeks ago with some of his gaming buddies (they were at a gaming convention and these are guys he'd never met before except over XBox).  We went to Fire and Ice, which is a buffet.  I always take tiny portions when I go so that I can enjoy small amounts of different plates.  I was waiting for H to finish when one guy was like "You're getting up again?"   H said, "yeah, it's a buffet." The guy looked at me and said, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." I should have diick-punched him.  But I didn't.  I regret it, because I'm never going to see this guy again.
