Hey , I'm so sorry you r going thru this. Not seeing you on mother's day bc mother in law more important. Nonsense . Sounds like the gf is a chip off old block of mom. Sounds like sons gf is a well....brat. idk best advice other than talk to your soon about how you'd like to be with him more , or make plans to take walks, lunches , etc things that don't break the bank. Invite son and gf or if gf doesn't come just son. Start to do all you can to make effort to be with son away from this so he can make sure it's what he wants . You are his mother , you deserve to be held high

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : Idk -Just as a hypothetical.... I think that watching somebody really really obese eating at a buffet makes me want to say something/do something about as much as when I see somebody smoking in front of their kids. I don't...because it's rude...but I think about it. Obviously this wasn't the case here so he should have shut his pie hole.

Overeating is not the only reason for obesity; some people have legitimate health problems. Comparing it to parents smoking in front of kids isn't really accurate.
[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : Who knows. He was really socially inept though, and not just because of that one comment. Throughout the entire meal, he couldn't maintain a conversation that didn't involve a) himself, b) his workout regimen, or c) his stats for Halo Reach.

Oh, to me those are totally different. If you want to eat yourself into a balloon, you go right ahead. If you're endagering the health of your children, I judge the crap out of you.
I was actually thinking in response to the question Kiki asked a while ago about whether skinny people who think they're fat don't also judge heavier people that I don't judge heavy adults, but I really judge parents with obese children.

Still catching up but YES. She was fucking annoying, and supremely judgmental about both spending money and Catholicism. Ugh.
[QUOTE]I have never once felt any oddness at a buffet. I made a conscience decision to go there, why not have my fill? If I wanted to eat sensibly, I would have gone to another restaurant.

Ditto. I wear my eatin' pants to the buffet. I ain't ashamed.
My H is practically the dork lord of Halo and XBox 360. And he's not socially inept.
...Well, not entirely, anyway. He doesn't make comments about females' weights, at least.

And clearly, if you are at the buffet and judging those eating there, you're a bit of a hypocrite, no?
Sometimes I do too. I try not to assume that it's because of poor diet, because I don't know that that kid doesn't have an underlying medical condition, but if I see an obese child being fed McDonald's or being plied with candy and ice cream to behave I admit I have some judging action going on.
I judge myself for that there runon sentence.

As far as flames, I have nothing new that hasn't been mentioned. Flame on.
[QUOTE]OH YEAH. I have one. For a reg. At least, I remember seeing her around as long as I've been around, though she posts kind of sporadically. Bubbalub seemed like a self righteous know it all yesterday when she was all "Do you know the political connitations of that name?" to Baystate. It's not like Bay wanted to name her kid Adolf Hitler Baystate. It's a pretty name and I think it was an unnecessary thing to get preachy about. And I'm sure Bubbalub didn't intend to be preachy, but that's just how it came off.

I apologized for being preachy in that thread but I totally accept this flame. It's something that is important to
me, like I said. It really is a big deal there and Bay can take the info or leave it.

Although, if your H plays constantly, I bet my H already knows his gamer tag.
He's cool like that. By cool I mean "has absolutely no life."

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : H and I went to a buffet a few weeks ago with some of his gaming buddies (they were at a gaming convention and these are guys he'd never met before except over XBox). We went to Fire and Ice, which is a buffet. I always take tiny portions when I go so that I can enjoy small amounts of different plates. I was waiting for H to finish when one guy was like "You're getting up again?" H said, "yeah, it's a buffet." The guy looked at me and said, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." I should have diick-punched him. But I didn't. I regret it, because I'm never going to see this guy again.

I may have cried if someone said that to me. I get PISSED when anyone says anything about food to me or even looks like they're going to judge my meal. Because that's something my mom always did which has led to a lifetime of issues with food.

[QUOTE]I just don't think it's anyone's business if a fat person (or a skinny person) wants to get 2nd, 3rds, 8ths at a buffet. Mm hmm!
LDY, of course. The only thing better for eatin' is a dress with NO waistline. Food babies need room to digest.

They are obviously different situations...but my feelings about speaking up and telling that person something they are obviously ignoring. Idk - I think people need to be more upfront about the amount of obesity in america. I'm not talking overweightness either - I'm talking about Biggest Loser fat.
