15 months was a great amount of time for me. We had kind of wanted to get married in the spring, but my brother and his wife picked July 3 and booked their venue (we got engaged within two weeks of each other) and we wanted a fair amount of space between the two weddings due to all of my family being scattered and having to travel for both. And then when we started looking at venue's and fell in love with one, we realized we'd need the extra six months to save to have it there anyway and still pay cash for everything.
We got engaged December 17th and pretty much had our venue and day picked by January but had to wait till Janaury 4th I believe to put the deposit down. Then about a month and a half ago we had to change the date by two weeks.
FI and I have been together for 7 years. Our dating anniversary is New Year's Day. He never proposed-we just started talking about what we'd like for our wedding.

Poke, my job at the time was awful, I was working 60 hour weeks and getting my ass kicked (literally) and my mental health was bad and all I did was pick fights with H when I was at home because I was so depressed and anxious and stressed, and I couldn't handle planning a wedding.
I know. It took me about a minute of sitting there just flabbergasted at the rediculousness before I realized it was a troll. But one of the best I've seen in a while.
So, one of the people that commented in that bump thread is a girl I went to high school and college with. That's the first time I've seen any one from IRL.
Petal - I used a medium priority flat rate box from USPS. The box itself is free, and it cost just over $11 to ship. They have two shapes of the medium box, one that's kind of long and flatish and one that is square - I used the square one.
Loop-I just read through a few of those posts in that thread...wow, just wow. I read it to FI, and all he could say was "seriously, she's really that dumb?"

I wrote you a hell of a run on sentence, ha.
It sucked, it was an awful decision. I had been set on a fall wedding since before we even got engaged. I ended up loving our wedding and being glad we had it in May, but it still sucked. I remember it very clearly. H came home from work on one of my days off, and he walked in the door and I said "I don't want to get married--" and started bawling. I meant to say "In October" but I didn't make it that far, and he thought I was breaking up with him. Whoops.
I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one who said I love you first!
FI asked me to move in with him before he proposed. I was living in New Orleans and her was here in Houston. Even though I saw him a weekend a month (he was in the Army Reserve) it was still hard being apart for the rest of the time.
So, even though I'd moved back to New Orleans (for good as I said at the time) I ended up moving BACK to Houston exactly a year and one week after my relocation to New Orleans.
The funny thing is that FI and I went to the same school, hung with the same crowd, his best friend was a boyfriend and lived 5 doors down from me and FI was always hanging out at this friends house...we never met until this same friend introduced us in 2009. I don't think that i'd have even met FI if I hadn't moved back to NOLA. Our friend, his wife and I hung out when I moved back and he just called me out of the blue one day and asked if it was okay to give my number to FI.
I said sure, he called half an hour later, we talked for 3 hours, met up the next day and we've been together ever since.
