unpopular opinions

i'm so bored, so I figured I would start one of these up.

1.  I love reading gossip sites - and I guess that's unpopular right there - but on that note I really feel sorry for Lindsay Lohan, and I don't agree with how she's being destroyed in the media.  She made the wrong choices, but I feel like people have more of a hate on for her since she's a "celebrity".

2.  I hate when people give the side-eye to attachment parenting and/or extended breastfeeding.  I think parenting decisions like those are personal to the parent and there's no right or wrong answer (CIO, formula-feeding are fine too - it depends on the parent).

3.  I love reality tv, though I can't get behind Jersey Shore.

You go.  :)

Re: unpopular opinions

  • I think LiLo deserves everything they throw at her and I think she's been getting off easy because of her celebrity.

I think if people (Torontonians) vote for the leading mayoral candidate they deserve all the schit and idiocy that's going to come with it and I reserve the right to kick them in the shins if they complain about how the city is taking huge backwards leaps after the fact.

I hate Friends. I never found it funny and I think Matthew Perry is the only one of them with any acting chops. I don't get why people loved/love it so hard.

I hate cheese. Just in case y'all didn't know... ;)

  • I don't understand 90% of reality TV.  Especially the shows where there's no real purpose (The Real World, Jersey Shore, etc.).

  • I don't like vanilla ice cream or white chocolate. To me, it's just lacking something. (namely chocolate)

I'm over Grey's Anatomy, too. It got to be too much drama and weirdness.

  • Grey's Anatomy has never made sense to me.

    I like McDonald's.

I don't think that daycares should accept children as young as six weeks.  This all cycles back to people procreating without thinking about the reality of raising a child, or just flat-out not caring about the reality of raising a child. I know some moms can't help but use daycare, but I just feel like six weeks is way too young.
  • alix, i didn't like friends that much either - the worst part is I've seen 90% of the episodes because FI loves that show

I hated the whole Ross & Rachel romance - they were so badly suited for each other - and Ross always got on my nerves

    - and you hate cheese??  even cheese curds??

  •  I don't care for Victoria's Secret clothing.  I think it's over priced for what it is.  Usually it's too plain or super low cut t-shirts.

  • Oh man, ask Mands and Fische. Jay ate half the curds off my poutine. I only eat like the stringly little bits the curds make, I refuse to eat a chunk of curd. I don't mind cheese in cooking but if there's a hunk of cheese, it's coming nowhere near me.

  • alix, is it just cheese or milk products in general?  do you like ice cream?

  • I like ice cream but milk makes me sick if I drink it. I'm okay with yogurt too. I just have an issue with the smell of cheese, I can't get over it.

  • georgia - i like mcdonalds too. actually last night that's what i had for dinner - big mac, fries and a medium chocolate shake.  my diet's going to hell in a handbasket.

  • I wish I didn't like cheese.  I told myself getting up this morning that I was going to try to go 2 weeks with no cheese.  I even made my sandwich for lunch with no cheese on it.  Then I get to work, pull out my sandwich for lunch and get a piece of cheese out of the fridge to put on it.  FAIL.  My will power sucks!

  • I think it's funny that VS even has clothes. Most of it looks like stripper day-wear to me.

But their bathing suits are so cute, I think I have 5 of them.

I will not buy bras from them any more though, I think they're crap.

  • I figured I would be preaching the choir here, but there are masses of people that love that damn place and the disgusting smell it pollutes the mall with.

  • Here's an unpopular opinion I have:

I still believe in older views on the roles of marriage.  As in, the man is the head of the household.  When Mr Stack and I discuss things we list pros and cons and I let my feelings on the situation known, but the final decision is up to him.

I trust that he will always make the right decisions for our family and I don't think he would ever abuse the position he is in.
  • Personally I hate exercise - and if I could afford it I would totally have a tummy tuck/lipo.  Yep, I'm lazy.

On that note, I did lose a ton of weight, 60 pounds (from dieting/healthy eating) - and I have a ton of lose skin around my stomach - and with the stretch marks it looks like cottage cheese.  So I guess my unpopular opinion is that I would get plastic surgery.

  • I give you free passes to flame me for this, but keep in mind it's totally *NOT* my normal mode of dress... I love what Ke$ha wears in every music video I've ever seen her in (except that native american deal... wtf?). I can't help myself and I'd totes wear it. Embarassed
In Response to Re: unpopular opinions : SOOOO agree!  You can smell that store on the other side of a mall.  My FI still buys some of their casual button up shirts and shorts from there and it is complete and utter torture to go in there while he tries stuff on.
    Posted by eshaufle
YES! My FI loves the flannel shirts and when we go in there its a quick run in, except half of the time the half deaf workers are no where to be found so you stand by the cash register for 15 minutes. WTF.

I can get behind that. I actually said to H that I must have been born in the wrong century because I believe it would be so much easier for H to own everything and make all the decisions. That might be why it was never a question for me to change my name, I didn't feel like I was giving anything up.

I think that's perfectly OK if that's what you (as the wife) wants and you're both on the same page.  If it's only the husband that thinks that way and he tries to force that upon his wife, that's what I wouldn't agree with.
