Sucrets I feel your pain about the teacher thing. WAY bigger percentage of names ruined by association than normal people.
Mocha I have the same problem! I'm on top of girls' names.
As far as Dionysus, I mean that would suck, but Denise is a variation. My mom's name is Denise and she is very proud of being the "goddess of wine" apparently. People call her Denny but I also like Neesy

my read shelf:
Do you like classic names? Popular names? Trendy names (not likely)?
With a common, one-syllable last time, the "rules" of naming say that a 2 or 3 syllable name will sound best. And I say you should pick something a bit more uncommon so the baby can google him or herself one day and not come up with 1,235,432 hits. I have literally met 3 Robert Smiths. Not including the dude from the Cure, whom I have never met.
Some of my favorite names:
Amelia
Sienna
Regan
Tamsin
Magdalena
Madeleine
Ethan (really popular though)
Tristan (ditto)
Andrew
Ian
Jesse
Micah
I don't really like last names as first names, like Madison, Jackson, Beckett, etc.
I love the name Aaron, but that's an ex's name. Damn exes. I like Natalie too. Honestly, I love Ainsley and Alison in theory, but I hate the nickname Ali. Sorry to any Ali's out there - it's not personal, I don't really like nicknames to begin with.
Here are more ideas: Seth, Blake, Michaela, Brett, Tanner, Morgan, Aubrey/Audrey, Connor, Maren, Kara, Holly, Drew, Adam.

<div>It wasn't music education, was it? I have a friend who did the same thing and then transfered to SUNY Oneonta. Northern NY is so much colder than the rest of upstate. Hard to believe until you experience it. And I have to fly into Syracuse for Christmas...</div>
I also really like the names Connor, Hunter, and Carter, but all three happen to be huge D bags in my life And one of those is the cousin that my BM keeps sleeping with.
I have some percocet left over because I'm down to Darvon now. I have probably some of everything here, I could make a killing in Central Park dealing,

I did have a bunch of friends that went to Crane, but no I was there for Forensic Sciences. ANT 101 killed it for me because the professor did nothing but show us videos of monkeys screwing the entire semester. I came back to Rochester and went to a Massage Therapy School and then got a business degree.
The worst part about Potsdam for me was that they didn't plow the sidewalks on campus until about 10:00 in the morning and I had an 8:00 and 9:00 class. Trudging through the snow on crutches sucked!
Syracuse, huh?
