• Dear Lord, I spelled skies wrong. I've either been grading too many papers, or I need to go home..
• Morning! I'm a little bummed that H got a nail in his tire on Saturday night. He's taking my car today to the tire shop (1.5 hours away) to get new tires. Other than that, I had a great weekend.
• Yikes, Erin, that's really far to have to drive for new tires!

• Cali, It is me, thank you!

Bay, <3

Bruno, Both, clearly.
• MyUserName - you think I can use that as a valid excuse to go home early? Our students seem to come up with some fairly good ones.
• Yay for wedding pics, Holly! Make sure you AW them!
Erin - Maybe they can just patch it? Getting new tires sucks.
Posted by rachers1017
<div>
</div><div>I wish. According to H, the tire is having all sorts of bulging problems. I'm hoping the warranty covers it. Because H's car is AWD, all 4 tires will need to be replaced. I will be SO sad if we have to pay $400-700 for all new tires. We bought these 'summer' tires almost a year ago to the day. He doesn't use them in the winter, so they are really new still.

</div>
• Ugh, Erin, that really sucks. Tires are so expensive. :(

Hey, everyone. Today sucks, man.

• That's fun that you're going to the beach this weekend, Holly!

I'm going down the shore for my friend's bachelorette party, but we failed to take into account that it would be the start of senior week. GREAT. Loud, drunk teeangers? No thanks. Hopefully it'll still be a really good time though!

I had to buy tires once for my old car... I got the cheapest ones possible since I knew I'd be getting rid of the car within a year or so. They were still like $350, which I didn't have at the time because I was unemployed.

It's funny how this works. One of my best friends from HS is now living in Denver. It's been awesome to hang out with her again.

I've only run out of gas once, and I will never let it happen again. It wasn't THAT bad, I was right down the street from a gas station and I was able to get some gas in a container and put enough in there to drive to the station and fill up, but it was still kind of embarrassing. It was on a busy road... I was just glad I was able to pull over to the side before it stopped running.

ETA - I really wanted a Lexus IS 250 this time around, but that was about $8k above budget. I got a Buick Verano and I actually really love it, although it's slower than my old Grand Am.

• "snows" are a must up here so when I bought my car I had to buy snows that winter and then the following year when I went to put my summer tires back on none of the garages would put them back on because they wouldn't last 'til the end of the season...new england is rough on vehicles.
I'm just happy I have a gas gauge that works this time around. When I drove my Honda Passport, the gas gauge broke and so you never knew how much you had. I could sort of go by mileage (I always tried to fill up at 200 miles) but I was a broke college student so alot of times I'd put in like 10 bucks. <strong>I ran out of gas atleast twice a month that year.</strong> It was awful. Then the driver side door stopped working. And now I'm stuck with my Monte Carlo. Ick.
Posted by rachers1017
Oh, man, that sucks. I always fill up as soon as I'm getting low so I don't ever run out of gas. I always keep close track of my gas mileage, too, so I know how much I have to go, even if the gas gauge says differently.

• I wouldn't mind a small suv that will be more baby/dog/stroller hauling friendly, but H needs a new vehicle before me and we are determined not to ever have two car payments at the same time again if we can help it. I paid mine off in May so we are car payment free until we break down and replace H's car. The plan is to keep his so we'll see

I do this too, although I'm not 100% sure how far I can go with my new car. I've gone 300 miles, I think, and when I filled up, I probably still had about a gallon or so of gas. The time I ran out of gas in my old car, it was like 270, so I tried not to go past 250 or so after that.

Rach, I didn't have a gas can with me and they didn't have one at the gas station either, but the dude let me use an empty milk gallon jug. That's not legal, so if I was caught, I had to promise to say that I'd had it on me and done it myself. Luckily, I wasn't caught.

My dad just got the Acura RDX and he loves it. It's a smaller SUV, which I like. I don't think I ever want one though... I prefer cars. Who knows if that'll change when I have kids though.

ETA - I pray we don't have to take on another car payment for awhile. FI has a 2007 that he takes really good car of, so hopefully it'll last for the next 5 years, until my car is paid off.

• I think SUVs are an "I don't get it" for me. Why does everyone want one? Like, I could understand why people who actually go driving around in the middle of nowhere would want them, but for people who live in cities? In suburbs? I don't get it.

Maybe I'd get it if I had a bunch of extra money sitting around to throw at a gas tank.

• 8 months 'til we're down to 1 car payment...can't wait!
I know I get 380 miles before I need a fill-up in the winter and 425 in the summer

• I've only run out once, and it was as I was turning into the gas station.  So, I was pretty much stuck perpendicular to the middle turning lane, facing the gas station.  There happened to be a cop at the gas station though who came up behind me and was able to push my car into the station with his squad car.  Luckily it was later at night so not a lot of people were around.

We need the space and the towing capacity.  You can't haul a boat or trailer with a car.  Well, I've seen it done, but it's a dumb idea.
Angel - it was my StepMom's. They helped both my brothers with getting new cars, so when the passport pretty much died on me, she gave me the MC and got herself a new car. And yea, I irrationally hate it.

• Holly & Rach-- I suppose I can see both of those reasons. I think, for me, it just wouldn't be worth the extra expense, especially when there are models of cars that would solve both of those issues, too. /shrug

I will let my gas gauge get down beyond E before I will fill it up.  I pretty much have it down to a science and so far have managed to fill up before I completely run out of gas.  FI keeps harping on me that I will run out of gas one day and be stuck somewhere.  I tell him to stop talking about it because he's going to jinx me.

• GLR I have a 90 lb dog who rides in the backseat of my 4 door sedan when I take her places. Once there is a carseat back there I will have to leave the dog at home as she won't be back there with the baby. Or get a babysitter for the baby and take the dog. I want an suv so I can put the dog in the way back with a stroller and go somewhere besides my neighborhood for a walk.
