Name: Michelle Wedding date: TBD (He just got his orders yesterday to serve in Afghanistan for 14 months starting in August, so our original date of 9/10/11 is no longer possible.)
I got laid off from my job of 5 years back in 2008. After being unemployed for a few months, I took the first offer I got doing inventory for a home improvement store. While training, I was introduced to Sean, one of the managers. He was walking and reading his paperwork, paying no attention to what was in front of him and literally ran into me. A co-worker introduced me as his new IM, he barely looked up, just said "nice to meet you, Michelle", bobbed his head in this quirky little way and went back to reading and walking. I was informed that he was a really sweet guy, but just very shy. I was hooked. I knew I had to get to know him, even though I was too shy to start conversations with him. I spent the next four months agonizing over the tiniest of conversation during the rare times we actually worked the same hours. Eventually, the weather warmed up and we found ourselves out on break together often and we started talking. (Awkwardly - awkward conversation was better than awkward silence.) I had found out he was in the Army Reserves during these conversations and at that point decided I could not think about anything happening between us. I always told myself I'd never get involved with a military man, nor someone at work (especially a superior.) I started seeing someone else casually, but could not get Sean off my mind. My stomach still fluttered every time I'd see or speak to him. One day, I grew a pair. I gave him my phone number, fully expecting a rejection. He called me as soon as he got out of work that same day. Not only was I not rejected, but he had felt the same about me since the first time he met me, but was too shy to say anything about it. We knew within 2 weeks that this was it, we didn't want anyone else. He asked me to marry him this past Monday. Saturday...he got his orders for his first deployment.
We were highschool sweethearts since my sophmore year. Long distance since he left for USMC bootcamp in October 09, and is now stationed in Twentynine Palms, CA. Can't wait to move!

Fun fact: We met our Sophomore year of high school when he moved to my town. I thought he was cute from the first day I saw him, but he didn't seem to care for me much. The first time we spoke we were in biology class doing a worksheet. I couldn't find an answer in the book so I shouted across the classroom, "Hey, new kid! Are you smart!? What's the answer to number 10?" I have no idea if it was really number 10 but you get the idea. We've been together since the middle of our Junior year of high school (so 3.5 years).
