Friday Night!

Re: Friday Night!

  • Ahh, I guess it is a little loose there but it doesn't look bad either. Did you have it altered at all?
    image
  • Holly- and I think that the big cupcake princess dresses are gorgeous.

But I'm a princess in the most literal sense short of Kate Middleton every weekend.  This is my weekend off from being one!

J- Not yet.  I work for a jewelry designer who does NOT do wedding jewelry and I'm having her design it.  It's going to be huge and chunky and all kinds of bright blue.  Turqouise, kyanite, apatite, iolite...apparently all the ites...
  • Ah.  That would get irritating.

But your guests got drinks AND a show, so at least there's a positive.

I had to have a BM run out and buy me those sticky bra cup thingers just so I wouldn't flash someone.  I couldn't bend over without covering my neckline.

I did have it altered.  Ther person didn't alter it quite small enough to start with (it fit comfortably right when I put it on and stretched out a bit after awhile), and then I accidentally lost 7 more pounds.  I tried really hard to gain it back.  I decided "Meh, I don't need to spend tons of money for extra alterations the week before the wedding."  I wish I had.

    Signature testing...

J&K, it looks slightly loose in the first pic but I can't tell at all in the others.
  • Ohh yeah losing weight would do it. I had my last alteration appointment like a week before the wedding so I was pretty sure I wasn't gonna change much size in that time.

This was my inspiration pic when I went shopping for my dress:

    bahahah obviously that really helped.

  • For not fitting it looks pretty amazing. Alrighty I have to get up early tomorrow and go to work so I am off chillins

You've got to click on the kissing one.  If you click and look, you can tell.

  • Damnit. Now I've messed it up.
  • See, i don't remember at all how i set my sig. So it might never change.  I might be engaged to darth vader forever.

I could figure it out.  But i don't really have a picture I'd prefer to use right now anyway.
  • I tried on a dress like that, MuSu.  It looked godawful on me, but I bet something like that would have been pretty on you!  But I do love your dress :)

  • I thought it was too, Chrissy which is why I thought I wanted something similar. Oh well. :)

It was actually the suggestion photo for "if you're tall" in the real simple weddings magazine. But I'm very happy with my dress, I just think its funny how completely different it is. I also think in the end, my dress was more fitting for my winter wedding anyway.

That is very true.  My runner up dress was almost exactly what I had in mind.  I think I shocked everyone when I picked the one I did!

I loooove the back of your dress. I know you said it dug into your back, but it was so pretty. :)

I don't know how summer brides do ball gowns. My dress was amaaaazing for keeping me toasty. But I would've hated it in July.

  • That's why I wanted a short dress, MuSu!  Outside in May in a ball gown?  I'd like to not be a sweaty red-faced mess, thanks.
  • My dress was officially labeled "oyster". Which made it a fuckton harder to find things that matched, lol. I was amazed that my alterations lady had silk organza to make a halter that matched.

Thank you :)  The back is a huge reason I picked it.

I agree, mine was quite warm too.

Smart girl! :) Yeah, for a 45 degree day, my dress was perfect. With all the layers and then hoop underneath, I didn't feel the wind at all from waist down.

    FFS. I'm trying guys.

I looooved the back of my dress. I was glad the weather was absolutely perfect. I think it was about 74 degrees with a slight breeze and sunny, with a few clouds.
  • It snowed the weekend before my wedding.  Like...accumulating snow.  I almost had a meltdown.  It was supposed to rain on the day.  Like, for a week, all the way up until midmorning that day, the forecast was about a 70%.

Not a drop.  It was sunny, and 70, and gorgeous and perfect.

That's awesome, J. Funny how we were both stressing about snow for different reasons. ;)

  • I got it to work! It's not centered, but it's not too big anymore. :)
  • That is a gorgeous photo Erin. The colors are just breathtaking. It looks like a beautiful place!

  • I thought about buying a farmers almanac website subscription just so i could start stalking their weather forecast.  Our ceremony is outdoors.
