I don't want to talk about weddings.

Re: I don't want to talk about weddings.

  • Loopy, I say skip it if you don't want to go, but I'm not really the best example of a good daughter-in-law.  Oh, I made that pulled pork you (I think?) posted the recipe for, and it was DELICIOUS!  I was very excited yesterday.

  • Is she calling it an open house, Loopy? That is an odd term for a holiday party.

  • Petal, in the course of my Christmas shopping, I bought myself a shirt, a dress, and two pairs of pants.  And the only thing that stopped me from buying myself a new pair of shoes today is that H called while I was perusing the selection of boots and distracted me out the door.
  • I find it odd to have a party in the middle of the week. I say skip it. I mean if you really wanted to go you would make it work, but if you don't I don't see how it can be held against you that you don't go.

  • J's grandpa is having his family christmas thing on Tuesday of next week. If I worked like a normal person I'd probably be annoyed.
    image
  • Yeah, she's calling it an open house.  I don't know... she's special.  She's a nurse, so she doesn't seem to get normal work schedules.  I'd consider going more seriously if it started earlier than 7.

Jally - how long do you have to work overnight?  Just one night, or is this the beginning of a stretch?
  • Nicki: She uses chickpea flour, cornflour, salt, pepper, parsley, cayenne, and chili powder for the batter. You can add any other seasoning of your choice (oregano, rosemary etc). It needs to be completely dry. Then using any oil of your choice (except olive), just throw them in and fry them. Take out, pat dry on paper towels, and enjoy. She used to drain the tofu like crazy which got them really really crispy. Today, they hadn't been drained as long and it produced a better result. Still crisp and browned on the outside, silken and soft on the inside. Delicious.
  • I'm glad I'm not alone in shopping for self when I am supposed to be shopping for others.

Normally I wrap presents but FI and I were too impatient this yera. We exchanged presents tonight without anything being wrapped.

Adamar - That's a nice run. Do you use the treadmill or run outside?

  • Tory is fixated at one spot on the wall right now. I wonder what she sees.

  • Hi  Ladies! Long time listener, first time poster, on the evening chatter that is! I still don't have my shopping done! And I was in the wrapping mood..yesterday.. today it's a different story!

Mica- GL on the house! I'm house hunting now with FI and it's a project.

    We're Married!! And I couldn't be happier!
  • Evening. I'm lounging on the bed eating Spaghettios and watching Aladdin while waiting for Terra Nova. And working on my lesson plan. Whisky is waiting patiently next to the computer because he knows he gets the meatballs.

Mica, good luck on the house. That's exciting.
  • I need to wrap some stuff to get it shipped tomorrow but I'm comfy on my couch with my laptop now.  I think it's a lost cause tonight :).

    Yumm!
I'll try that for lunch tomorrow!

I don't like to wrap. I like reusing brown paper bags, or reuse gift bags. Especially gift bags this year because we have a lot of wedding ones- it's the best when the season/theme is not the same as the holiday.

  • What did you get Petal?
    image
  • omg spaghettios. I haven't had spaghettios in soooo long.
    image
  • I work tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday night from 10-8.  I was supposed to work it on Christmas too, but somone else wanted the money and I gladly gave it up.
    image
  • I finished the dog sweater that I posted about earlier today and wrapped it too.

I'm an obsessive gift wrapper, hand made bows, wrapping the top and bottom of the box separately, color coordination, etc.  So it takes FOREVER, but it looks gorgeous, so its worth it.

Darth FI is cooking soup while I write out christmas cards.  I'm gonna go package up the stuff we're mailing out tomorrow in a minute.
  • I hate wrapping presents, but I wrapped all of ours because our little tiny tree doesn't have a tree skirt and it looked ugly without any presents under it.
    image
  • Petal, there's a track near my house that I go to.  Not quite as boring as the treadmill, but close.

  • Did we ever decide when we were doing the SS thread since TK is hopefully back to normal?
    image
  • Jally - that's rough.  I always find the first night is rough, the second night is brutal, and the 3rd and beyond starts to feel as close to normal as you can get.

I bought THIS dress.  I was going to wear it with leggings for Christmas Eve dinner.  Think it would work with jeans?  I'm not that fashion forward.  But it's really cute.

I got a Paula Deen pan to add to my set and 5 S'mores Christmas ornaments. I've just started collecting them. We set a limit this year and I do not think FI included shipping as part of his costs but he did good.

  • Yeah, I'm just hoping we don't have anything stupid like hourly blood sugars.  Those are the worst.

Ha! I'm watching Aladdin too. I can't remember the last time I saw it. I was probably about 10 but it used to be a fave DIsney movie of mine.

It's freezing in our apartment (to me anyway) but I don't want to turn up the heat because our utilities bill came today and it was HIGH. So I'm trying to suck it up and just hide under a blanket. I seriously should get a Snuggie.

  • That's cute Petal. My SIL loves the Paula Dean cookware.

Loopy I love that dress. I think it could work with jeahs, but I'm not very fashion forward either.
    image
  • I really like that dress loopy, but as for what to wear it with I'm useless.
    image
  • Hello! I'm waiting for my dinner to finish cooking. I'm cooking a pork tenderloin and roasting carrots and parsnips in duck fat. Although I'm sure they will taste delicious, duck fat is kind of an overpowering smell for my small apartment.
  • Well, I HAD presents underneath my tree but one of the cats ripped my mom's open and I didn't want her to get into FI's. I'm doing everything I can to keep it a secret from him. Anyway, all of the presents are in the bedroom now and we still have 4 to get. Ugh.

We're relaxing tonight. No Strings Attached came in the mail the other day so we'll probably watch that.
  • It didn't quite work with my boot-cut jeans I was wearing when I tried it on (I was worried about how the neck would fall and the sleeve-to armpit joining... It drives me NUTS when my tops are all wedged up in my armpits LOL) but I think with some slimmer cut jeans it might be cute and work.
  • I'm having a minor dilemma for tomorrow. Calling it a dilemma is ridiculous but whatever. My hair is the longest it's been in years and I've come to hate it, it's driving me crazy. I posted earlier today that one of my Christmas presents is a paid for hair appt at a great place for cut, color, and blow-dry. Part of me wants to chop off a decent amount of hair and go back to shorter than shoulder length but I know FI would silently be sad and I want it pretty long for the wedding again next summer. Should I just go for it and get a dramatic haircut and trust I'll like it and that it'll grow back all the way by next summer or just go for safe trim? Firstworldproblems.
