  • AATB, I've most often heard "culinary" pronounced as "cull-inary," though I've heard it as "cue-linary" as well.

    IMO, it's like "mat-chur" versus "ma-toor" and "fer-tile" versus "fer-till."

When I went to culinary school, everyone pronounced it "cul-inary."

I used to work in Rx Benefits and I loved when people would call me to say that the doctor told them to "double up" on their birth control while on antibiotics, meaning use a condom as well or some other form of BC.  They thought it meant take 2 pills each day.  That was fun to argue with them about it.

But when it comes to me and my body, mind your God Damn business.

Im pro-choice, but you dont see me running around telling people who I dont think are fit to have a baby to go get an abortion.

Eh yes and no.  The fault of the people is that they didn't educate themselves enough on what is a mortgage that they can afford with their income and bills.  But banks will often tell you that you can afford more tha you can, and most people trust that (when they sholdn't)

Banks were having people bet AGAINST mortgages they were offering.  Sure, the mortgage holders had an responsibility to take out only what they could afford, but the banks were hoping people would fail. That's hardly fair either.

<div>Exactly - they also believed that home values would always go up so they took out interest-only loans (and other stupid products that anyone who bothered to understand wouldn't look twice at) assuming that they could refinance in 5 years and cash in on the increase with an equity out refinance.  It's just irresponsible and silly.</div><div>

  • Also my un pop op - anyone who thinks their beliefs should impact anyone but themselves is ridiculous. I think organizations that receive so much as a penny in funding from the government need to follow the law and therefore cannot discriminate their employees based on their religion, race, sex, actual or perceived sexual orientation and should have to provide adequate health care which includes access to birth control. If you're going to allow pre-natal vitamins you need to allow birth control. Having a child is a choice one way or another and if you support having them, you have to support not having them. And frankly birth control pills are a lot less expensive than pregnancies and are less of an impact on your group rate health plan.

  • I don't think banks are 100% innocent, but I don't see them as the big bad guy either. People knowingly took out loans without doing their own research or giving much thought to whether the mortgage company was giving them the best information. They knew the terms, and they knew the consequence for not paying the agreed upon price was losing their house.

I feel bad, but no one made them buy a house.

Now that I'm pregnant, I'm realizing just how stupid it is for people to be so adamently against free BC for everyone.  Seriously, my pills cost like $19/mo or something (before insurance), and I paid $4/mo for them after insurance.

I don't even want to know how much this whole pregnancy is going to end up 'costing' us.  And by us, I mean my insurance. I had to pay ONE copay of $15. That's it. My insurance covers teh rest, which I'm guessing will be at least $20,000? If not more? I have no idea, to be honest.  Either way, that's a lot of fucking packs of birth control pills.

ETA: ok. $20k might be a high guess? I know labor/delivery is at least $8k though. hm. Now I'm curious. off to Google.
