Furidayyy!

Re: Furidayyy!

  • Bay, did you like TBH? I've been hearing a lot about it and I think I want to read it.
  • I didn't cry reading HG or HP either, but I'm pretty sure I cried during the movie. I cried through pretty much ALL of Toy Story 3 though.

    Morning everyone!
  • Morning ladies.

I'm getting ready for a crazy weekend here in New Orleans. They are expecting about 250k people to come this weekend. We have to go food shopping today because our car will be in lockdown starting tomorrow. Getting to work should be interesting.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I didn't cry at all in Hunger Games, but I did at Harry Potter, and I have on every re-reading of books 4, 6 and 7.

Bay - I've been using your list of books you read last year to fill out my list for this year. I like your taste.

  • Adamar, what's going on in the chapter you're reading right now? I just want to know so I don't give anything away.
  • I didn't cry during HP or HG. I know there are books I cried at though. I cry everytime I watch Up.

  • Lynda, I was just about to ask to why there would be 250K people coming to NO this weekend and then it hit me. Idiot, party of me.
  • I must not have a heart, I never cried reading HG.
I think I am just going to get her some flowers and give them to her at lunch. I figure if I carry them into the graduation they will look pretty rough when I finally give them to her, but if I leave them in the car they will be much better. H was using the phrase "bird dogging" to mean keeping up with someone. He wanted me to bird dog the vets office as we have questions. According to urban dictionary he wants me to pick up girls at the vets office. or with the vets office. something like that.
    Posted by Rosie109
I've heard that phrase before and I thought it meant to stare at something or someone one intently, with a fixed gaze. Kind of like a hunting dog will go on alert when they sense an animal....luckily, I've never actually used the phrase because now I think I may be wrong!

I bawled my eyes out watching Up. When it was over I turned to H and said "that was supposed to be a kids movie?!" I mean I guess they might not get it as much, but I would have hated to be a parent taking my kid to see that in the theater. I was ugly crying.

I'm a child and adolescent therapist now and I pretty much love it, minus some details that make me hate it haha. Not the counseling part, that part is good.

  • OMG Anna. It was amazing. I don't usually read books with a lot of romance, but I love me a good historical fiction, and TBH definitely is that. Fair warning, though -- there's about 100 pages of straight romance that gets a little tedious and sort of breaks up the story a little. If you like to read romances it probably won't bore you so much, but I wasn't a huge fan. It was worth it for the end of the book though, and the sequel was (IMO) even better. I can't wait to read the third book.

If I ever get my Kindle back from H. He's reading MJ right now on it. But my sister just finished MJ herself on a paper copy, so I might take her copy and give it to H so I can have my Kindle back.

  • I love my job, but I just interviewed for a promotion that I'm not sure I actually want, but I would feel like a suck if they offered to me and I didn't take it.

    I am so confused.

Cool, I will definitely add it to my list. And is it romance like cheesy feelings stuff or soft core book porn? I can deal with the latter much better than the former.

  • Well, I think it's the 24th. Or 25th. I can't remember. ANYWAY, Frank Turner and Dropkick Murphy's are playing at First Ave, and I'm going, so I'm going to have a cocktail lunch before hand with the MSP girls and Missy68, I do believe!

  • gg, I hear ya. I'm sure there will be some things that I hate. But at least I'll get to use my skills instead of just answering phones and filing paperwork like I am now (nothing against the job in general, it's just not my thing).

Fishy, what are the chances they won't offer it to you?

  • Sounds like fun! Make sure you get your date right though. I know you would hate to miss Frank Turner.

  • TBH, I have no idea. I don't know how many people applied, and it's a job that would be directing clincal practice for Fargo AND Bismarck, so the applicant pool is two campuses deep, so. I DONT KNOW.

  • J- the part I hate is that my supervisor is non existent. Paperwork and any other BS I can handle. If i talked to my supervisor more I would love it. But she works in a different office so it is what it is. Fishy-you seem to have a lot of hate for up
