Friday Night!

Re: Friday Night!

  • I feel all sad right now. A girl I don't even know, but was a friend of some of my friends, died unexpectedly on Monday. I'm not even really sure how she died but after stalking her FB and reading her obit, I'm all bummed out. She has a puppy that looks kind of like Tory too which weirdly made me even more sad that his mama was gone.

  • Good to know KJB.  I'll save it for when I'm really procrastinating then.

  • That type of stuff really makes me sad MuSu. I'm still really torn up about my favorite blogger's trial separation from her husband. I have never even met the lady and I'm sad for her.

    Poor pup.
  • Oh, Petal, I missed yours.  That suuuuuuucks.  Makes me glad I live in a condo.  Harder to tell who's not home.  But I almost never answer the door when I'm home alone.  Generally because I'm not fully clothed.

And MuSu, sorry to hear about that

I think the puppy was both her and her boyfriends, from what I can tell. I'm sure he is just fine in that regard. I don't even know the girl but it seems like my friends who did are pretty devastated (understandably).

  • I can't think about that kind of stuff. This reminds me: Several years ago my Ex-BF and I were talking about house fires or something else equally stupid. I asked him if he would go back into his burning house to save his dog. He said "Hell no! Save myself first!" I was beyond pissed. That fight lasted like 6 months.

I don't know if I could live with myself well if I knowingly let Tory stay trapped in a burning building. I'd like to think (unless she was stuck underneath something) she would be smart enough to follow me out though.

  • I'm sorry Musu. I'm sure the pup will be okay.

We now leave a car in the drive during the day instead of the garage and have an alarm system. They came through the sliding glass door so now that has the pins in it at the top, some other type of bolts at the top, bars across the middle, bars in the bottom of the frame and the regular locks.

  • I realize that human life is more important than a dog's life, but I think if I could go back for Fox I would.
  • That's tough, Chrissy. :( I've had a few close friends die since HS ended and it certainly wasn't easy. I'm pretty spiritual though so I do sometimes feel like they're 'with' me at times.

I think social media makes death of younger people (and even old people now as more old people get FB) kind of interesting since the person often has a FB and it becomes somewhat of a permanent memorial. Some people I know don't like it but I don't mind.

  • It was weird because the neighbors said that nothing like that has happened in the 6 years that the development has been around. It was 3 younger guys and they hit a few other houses in the area.

The HOA has time to take pictures of our weeds but not notice people breaking in. Ridiculous.

<div>This summer a close family friend died at 25. She was coming home from her grandpa's funeral and her family was following behind in several different cars. No one really knows what happened but going 70 MPH (the speed limit) she rear ended a pickup and died. Her air bag didn't  go off. Her family saw it happen and one of her sisters actually ran up to the vehicle. It was so strange because it was a clear day and the pickup was completely visible. I was pretty devastated.</div>

Wow that is really crazy, and very sad. :( I have a friend who died by suicide 5 years ago and another old friend that died in a snowmobiling accident 3 years ago. I visit their FBs every now and then to read messages that people write on their wall. I find it sweet that people do it, actually.

  • 10 hours later.... Eagles, yeah, gluten is in EVERYTHING.  But there are lots of places in my city to get GF stuff.  It will just be a matter of sorting through what's ok and what sucks.

Oh my god.  That's so awful Seeing an accident like that happen is the worst.  I saw a friend behind me get in an accident.  He didn't die, but holy shiit it was scary enough.  I can't even imagine...

  • A friend of mine died last summer. His FB status recently changed from 'in a relationship' to 'it's complicated' super strange to see. I suppose it is complicated to have a relationship with a dead guy though

  • I couldn't imagine how awful it would be to see it happen. Two of my other friends witnessed my friend commit suicide and I have no idea how they even managed after that.

A girl I went to high school, her older brother was married with a five year old son. The dad (her brother) went back into their burning house to save the dog, and ended up getting severe 3rd degree burns, and passed away last week :( So sad. I went to the visitation and it was the toughest thing ever.

  • And....here's my unpopular opinion.

No way would I go back in to save an animal.  And I would be PISSED if FI did either.

and I LOVED my dog.  I still love her and miss her and she's been gone for four years.  I cry sometimes for missing her.

And I would feel like a horrible person for letting an animal die in a fire.

BUT, my or FI's life is more important than an animal to me.

    flame away.
