On the topic of Vick, and probably posting to a dead thread I wonder how many people, including Obama remember the gruesome details of the crime he confessed to. I remember this clearly:

"Vick and the others involved in Bad Newz Kennel at one point hung seven dogs in the trees behind Vick's home. When three of the dogs did not die he submersed their heads in water until they drowned."

Yup, Obama is a jackass.

This is the idea that I was talking about when I said there's a difference between Obama calling up Vick to give him props for being such a stellar guy, and Obama calling up the owner of the organization Vick is part of and saying props for giving him a second chance. Nowhere in that story does it say that he called Vick directly, or that he congratulated him on his superb career. People are taking this report and twisting it to fit their image of Obama, be that "OMG this is just another example of how big of a moron Obama is" or "OMG this is just another example of how forgiving and wonderful Obama is".

I think it was pointless and possibly mildly inappropriate for Obama making the call to the owner, but I don't view it as him making a second-hand attempt to praise Vick. If he wanted to praise Vick I think he would have just up and praised Vick. I think people read into every action that dude makes and decide what he REALLY meant based on their own view of him. I tend to try and take things at more of a face value.

Here's a crazy thought. I both worked for and voted for El Presidente. I still think he's doing a damn good job. However, I don't always agree with everything he does or says. In fact, there are some issues that I heartily disagree with him on. I'm not aware of anyone that agrees with absolutely everything their political candidate says or does.

I have kids, rescue pits, and I am very active in my community to help in MANY ways. Sweat Pea my dear you have no right to come in here and judge anyone! What makes you so friggin special? No one said this was a political statement or discussion? Actually in the beginning of this thread I made it straight this was not a political discussion. It is very healthy social interaction to talk about serious matters affecting our community. Our kids see these people everyday, our school educate these people, our media zones in on these peolpe, and when our president calls the boss of a horrid individual to give him " a pat on the back" we have every right in the world to discuss it.

I am not special. I just said something and stuck by it. However, you are right. You did not make this a political discusison, It became political as the thread moved on. There is nothing wrong with talking about these issues. When people don't want Vick to get more attention because of his criminal record- talking about what you read in an article gives it new life and Michael Vick more attention.

Well I come down on him pretty hard. It's no secret I highly dislike him as a president but I think it's stupid to be all huffy about him spending time with his family. Everyone should be have a Christmas break.

I think it's like that for most presidents. You are going to have some people that like zero things he or SHE (one day) do and then you will have people that 100% support him/her. I do like some of the things he is trying to do like the new healthy hunger-free act.
