TK confessions?

Re: TK confessions?

  • My confession- I don't really like to post on advice threads because sometimes I am so passive-agressive that I figure my advice probably sucks. So I usually wait to see what other people think, but by then I don't want to reiterate the same thing x1000.

[QUOTE]I lurk WAY more than I post.  I keep trying to break that habit, but in most posts what I'd say has already been said, or I'm way late to the game. I feel like a creeper.

This is me. Probably because I'm made of 1 part terrible timing and 2 parts internet shyness.
  • I get annoyed when I see people posting about save-the-dates.  I just think unless you're planning a destination wedding, they're pretty stupid.  Waste of time, waste of money.  And unless I'm in your wedding I don't really need to know the date of it ten or so months in advance.  Dumb.

If I cared that much I'd ask, I'd throw an std out if I got one. Total waste of money but that's probably why they're promoted by the wedding industry
  • Input from someone who has been MIA but is well known is more relevant to me than input from a newb or someone I don't know well.

    This, so much.

Personally, I love the GM threads, since I hardly ever participate in nighttime threads and I always have about a half hour of downtime when I first get to work, so it's nice to catch up. During the workday, I'm horrible about pacing my workload, so whenever something comes across my desk, I work my ass off to get it done, and then wind up having another hour of downtime. Our busy season is during the summer, though, so maybe that's I've been so idle lately.

  • Save the Dates are just one of the many things I don't get about wedding planning as it is portrayed on TK.

I can understand why a lot of you are sick of wedding talk. Hell, I am still planning mine and I stick to this board and my month board because I just don't care to read yet another BM drama or dress AW thread.

  • I'm going to be celebrating my 4yr anniversary in july, sick of weddings is an understatement for me. Most (if not all) of my best tk friends are married so I'm just meh about it. I have some RL friends getting married but I'm not involved so meh as well lol
  • I loved our STD's -- mostly because they were an excuse to commission wedding-themed WoW fanart, lol.  /nerd

  • I mean, we can't claim to be THAT sick of wedding talk if we still hang out on a wedding message board.  We are bound to talk about WR things once in a while but luckily there isn't too much WR stuff here.  I honestly don't know how the E girls hang out there without wanting to pull their heads right off their own shoulders.  Endless drivel about invitations and bridesmaids and who toasts and what do the dads wear and can I demote my MOH and my MIL wants to wear ivory and why can't I have a small ceremony with a big reception... blah blah fucking blah.  I'd lose my shiit over there.

  • I don't mind the wedding talk- I just skip over those posts. But I am tired of weddings IRL. I have 3 weddings this year, 2 of which I'm really involved in and I am counting down the days until it's all over. I'm not in wedding mode anymore. I'm in 'leave me alone dammit, I don't really care about your wedding' mode nowadays.

Usuallly it's not so bad...right now it's the post-holiday engagements, and soon the Valentine's Day engagements...and then hopefully things will slow down for a while.  We've had some winners over the past couple of weeks.

  • I don't hang out on TK for the weddings, though.  I'd have been perfectly happy moving to TN back when TK was doing the timewarp again.  I'm actually kind of disappointed that didn't stick, to be honest.

    image
  • I think the nest is a very different "format" than TK, so to have chated her for however long and move just cause you're married isn't gonna work for everyone. I like the people/board here, but it has nothing to do with weddings for me. I just hate most other board sites.
  • Haha for sure, Bay - this time of year there's always an influx of nutter brides :) I can't decide if it's the Christmas engagements or the V-day engagements that bring out the crazier ones.
    panther
  • If I could be on FB all day, I'd be there instead of here but we get flagged for that. So I just tolerate the wedding talk here. I do kind of like the dress threads but most of the E threads irritate me because I just don't care about STDs and bridal party problems. Unless they are drama threads. Those are fun.

  • But, you can certainly have a Wednesday wedding if that's what you want.  IT'S YOUR DAY.

  • Holiday weddings piss me off. A friend of mine is getting married on a holiday weekend and I'm sorta ticked I won't get to spend it doing nothing. I'm gonna have to get dressed up and lose a day of my 4day. Better be fucking open bar... (Kinda kidding, a bit)

This is one of the most ironic things I've ever read on TK.
  • I had to go to a PPD last Memorial Day weekend.  Man that sucked bag of nut sacks.

  • I've been to two PPDs where the families didn't know the couples was married.  Both of them left me feeling icky.

  • The PPD I went to was a hot ass mess.  The reception space was utilized very poorly and the bride was apparently a massive bitch to everyone.  The backdrop behind their head table fell over and their band for the dance was an hour late.  They ran out of food.  They had place cards - but it was weird.  She designated a friend of hers to hand them to you at the entrance to the reception but they were blank so you could fill your own name in on them.  So you "remember where you sit."  FFS.

Oh and her dress looked like a damn sleeping bag.

I hate holiday weekend weddings.  Hate them.  I've never declined one though because I can't justify not going to a wedding because I would like to be sitting around on my 3 day weekend doing nothing,

My ex co-worker (of 6 years) used to talk about how we hated holiday weekend weddings so much.  Guess what?  She's getting married over Labor Day weekend...the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.  Horrible.

I'm going to be so pissed when the lineup for NCMF comes out and someone awesome is on that day.
