My confession? Waking up and seeing all this Kony stuff all over FB and twitter made me immedately not care. Im an a-hole like that.

I hate that there are always new correct PC terms for things. There was nothing wrong with the first 5 names it used to be called, there is no need to change it because some asshole is always offended.

<div>I got in to a HUGE disgreement with my dad about this recently. He thinks the term 'learning disabilities' is horrible and makes kids with 'learning difficulties' feel like they are disabled. I am of the opinion that if you change the wording in 20 years they will hate the new term.</div>

Can I piggyback this? Is it just me or are people just overly offended nowdays?

I feel like everyone has to tippytoe around others for fear of offending someone else. Personally, if I may be offended by something, I just remove myself. I don't scream and sue the person who offended me. I feel like somewhere we grew away from the principles of what we were founded on.

People came here to have freedoms. I feel like a lot are quashed now.

I was just going to write this, lol. However, I watched Blood Diamond a few weeks ago and it made me cry. The thought of child soldiers is quite sad.

I don't even know who/what Kony is.

I would 100% support an eye-for-an-eye approach to convicted serial rapists and pedophiles. And I don't care if that is considered cruel and unusual punishment. Along the same lines, I don't think they should ever be released from prison for being "low risk" or for "good behavior."

I'm not all that happy. I don't know why, outside of my regular career aspirations/body issues. But I also have no motivation to change this. I kind of feel like I'm just going through the motions of life.

There is a chick at a college in my state who is suing the college for a ridiculous amount of money because her roomate was having too much sex. The college offered her a private room etc, but she says she is psychologically damaged from the experience and wants a pay out.

I flame shiit like that.

Potentially flameable confession - I am really irritated that my co-worker is planning on leaving after less than a year on the job. Her time frame for leaving is very open ended but she will likely be leaving at our busiest time of the year.

My irritation is potentially flameable (and why I feel bad for being so annoyed) is because she is leaving because she is pregnant with her second child and wants to stay home once her husband gets a job. FWIW I am not irritated with her, I am just irritated with the situation. It will take forever to get someone else hired and trained and more importantly she was really good at her job!

I posted this on FB this morning, but I think Instagram pictures look likke crap. I love how hipsters with $600 cameras are making pictures that look like they were taken with ancient crappy 35mm cameras. They moved away from that technology for a reason,folks.

Okay, well here is mine...if someone can watch the 27-minute minute about Kony put out by Invisible Children and not somehow feel as though it is a valid, important cause, I just 'don't get it' and I judge. I can't force anyone to 'feel' compassion or emotion or anything, I just don't understand how watching that doesn't evoke a sense of injustice in the world.

As for people who don't know who Kony is...that's kind of the point of the movement, most people don't know who he is and this group wants to change that, they want people to know about this war lord who has stolen tens of thousands of children from their parents and forced them to be child soldiers.

ps: this is likely going to be a P&R, I have to teach in 15 minutes.

I guess to piggy back mine and Nebbs, first you couldnt use retarded, then slow, then metally disabled, then mentally challenged. I dont even know what the correct PC term is now. Same with Native American.

I am just going to jump in with a couple of my random unpops:

1) I think most, maybe all, Indian reservations should be abolished.

2) I think that the older population should have to take more driving tests to prove their competance. In my fantasy world, this would also include a timed course to prove they still are able to drive well.

So I grew up on a reservation, and we did ask our Indian friends what they preferred to be called. And they told us Indian was what they preferred. So that is what I use.

1) That was an unfortunate part of the dorm experience. I had a friend whose roommate would have sex with her in the room. She would think they were napping and then BAM! It was really awkward.

2) Maybe I'm just old, but back in MY day, we would request a room change. Not sue the school.

Also- with this whole Kony thing. Its just going to be like the AIDS thing in Africa. People are going to raise a fucking shiiton of money that is not going to help a damn thing. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been raised for AIDS in Africa and the infection rate is still climbing. Half the continent has it. If hundreds of millions of dollars cant convince people to wear a condom and to stop raping babies to cure themselves, then I dont know what else can.

I have a confession, I don't think it's particularly flammable, but I want to get it out there so I can thank people for their responses. I was the AE a couple weeks ago with the bipolar husband. Thanks to everyone's advice here, he went to his doctors to tell him that something wasn't working properly and he's on a new medication that so far has made improvements in our life. We are also seeing a counselor together and trying to work on our communication skills. I just want to thank everyone for their kind, thoughtful and supportive responses. They were very helpful. I'm doing it wrong, I know.
