I don't know, Any. I'm convinced that Stephen Harper is evil. We wiped TWICE on regular Maloriak last night because our stupid main tank was off canvassing Harper's own riding as a Conservative Party volunteer. >.<

Blue - have you ever experienced someone calling you a racist because you just don't agree with President Obama? Because that's happened to my uncle before. He's a conservative and is very critical of the president's policies - which of course, is totally fine. People are entitled to their opinions no prob. In an email fight (a reply-all type thing) one of his contacts accused him of being racist - JUST because he doesn't like Obama.

He did not appreciate that notion. I didn't either.

Campaigns get more expensive each election. He broke the fundraising record last time and I expect he will do so again. This is clearly going to be a hotly contested election even though he might have a slight upper hand as an incumbent. But really, what is he supposed to do? Turn down the money? He wants to keep his job so he's fundraising. It's part of being a politician. They all do it. And while plenty of people don't like him, it's clear that there are at least a few really rich people who do enough to give him their money. And it is within their rights to donate to his campaing. I think this is an odd thing to focus on.

Taylor- I wish you would word your arguments better.

I understand what you are saying about his campaign fund. It is over a billion now compared to the 500 million he raised for the first election, but he is allowed to do what he wants.

If you had said something like "He must know that he is losing some of his original voters since he has raised double the amount of money for this election than he did for the first", I think people would not come down on you so hard.

Just think out your response a little better.

Well, monkeys have LONG since been used as stand-ins for African-Americans in racist imagery and cartoons, and the word "monkey" has become a slur in and of itself. (Coming from Africa, being less evolved and/or inhuman, etc.)

So, there's definitely a racist connotation there for Obama that wouldn't have applied to Bush. I think it's disingeuous to deny it (unless you legitimately don't know that "monkey" is a slur, which is entirely possible; I didn't know that "chink" was a slur until my own half-brother used it... apparently forgetting that the half we don't share is Asian! *facepalm*).
