Monday Afternoon blows, and other NWR stuff.

Re: Monday Afternoon blows, and other NWR stuff.

• Aryn I'm still waiting to hear about the job. I'm going to wait until Wednesday before I bug them with a follow up call (if I haven't heard from them of course).

Erin we only have the one car payment (mine of course) and it's not a whole lot each month. I just think we need to get rid of as much debt as we can right now and that's the easiest way to do it. If we sell mine, sell Lucas's mustang (something he kind of sort of doesn't want to do), and wait for our tax return we should have enough to get something decent.

One of the cars I looked at today had power seats that didn't work. I couldn't even move the seat up so I could actually drive it. This is the problem with automatic everything.
Duds, there's a mall up in Natick, MA, where they have crystal chandeliers in the women's bathrooms.  I think that's a tad much for a mall bathroom.
Posted by baystateapple
Is that at the new fancy end with Neiman Marcus and Tiffany's?  I had to explain to Matt why we have all of these fancy, comfy couches in womens' bathrooms.  We just them, okay!  We need to go in there and gossip with each other!  Bathrooms tend to be more than perfunctory for women!!

Kind of the definition of "didn't work". The panel on the side was like falling off the seat so none of the controls worked.

• When I bought my car last year (CR-V), I looked at a three year old car, but the price difference wasn't too big between a new and used one.  Plus that really nice 0.9% APR on the new car.  I just went with the new one.  We also went to the dealer that doesn't haggle.  What you see is what you get. I liked that.  Matt bought his car there, too, a few years ago.
• When I was looking for the car I had before this one, I had the worst salesman on planet earth. I'm tiny. I need a little car with moveable seats so I can see to drive. I didn't have a very big car budget and he tried to show me new cars. Some of which didn't come with air conditioning or seats that moved. At all. I don't understand one-size-fits-all cars and I'm for sure not buying a brand new car without air conditioning.
• MK, I can't believe that they were trying to sell a car in that shape.

I swear that I've never seen NM open.  Granted usually when we go there it's a Friday evening.  But the rest of the mall is still open.  Oh well, not like I was planning on shopping there anyway.  I take my business down to Michael Kors.  (j/k)

I couldn't handle not having air conditioning, that just sounds miserable in the summer.

Oh Snippy it was like being sold for nothing. Now I know why it was being sold for nothing.

I liked the buying process of my Scion. Scion doesn't haggle on their prices. They are what they are. The only thing i could negotiate was the value of my trade in. It made it soooo much easier to know that the price I saw was the price I was paying. The only thing that sucked is they only use one credit reporting agency for financing and the one they use had the worst credit score for me. I was 2 points away from the top tier to get the best interest rate. I obviously still bought it, but that kind of sucked.

It is. My first car didn't have working AC. It did when I bought it, in October, but by the time spring/summer came around, it had died. Beyond repair that I could afford. I couldn't even use the 4/60 method because only 3 of the windows went down.

That car had personality. :)

And yes, I think they were Nissans of some kind. They were trying to make new cars affordable for college students or something. I don't really remember.
• I'm with Edie. Why wouldn't there be air conditioning in new cars?
• MK, they should probably just give it up and sell it for scrap.

When we bought Matt's car, they quoted us an interest rate of like 5.5%.  Well when the guy did the paperwork, he accidentally wrote 4.5%.  Being dumb, I thought that perhaps the error would void the contract and didn't want to worry about the hassel.  So I pointed out the error.  The guy then decided to split the difference and gave us 5.0%.  Matt just likes to shake his head at that story.  I cost him 0.5% APR!

Maybe they think it would be a good car for a teenager or something.

Edie it's a '90 fox body, 25th anniversay edition. It was his mom's. She drove it for about 10 years, then it sat in the garage for the next 10 and he's hoping to fix it up and have it as a weekend driver. It works well (minus the AC being busted) so I don't want to make him sell it, but it would be helpful.

• I don't think it's that weird they make cars without AC. You don't need it everywhere. I mean plenty of people have houses without AC. The place I moved last summer is the first place I've had for about 6 years that has central air.
• Ugh, my first car was black and the AC didn't work.  IN FLORIDA.  That was awful.  Sometimes I would have to bring a different shirt to put on at school because I'd be so sweaty.  It was gross.

• We don't have A/C up here in Boston!  It's not really that bad.  Maybe a week or two out of the year.  It's amazing how much cooler it is up here in the summer.  It's almost newsworthy if it hits 90.
• I know Hyundai sells some of their base models without a/c. At least they did back when I was looking at cars in 2006.

My first car was light blue and the AC didn't work it was awful, thank goodness for the sun roof it had, I don't know how you did it in a black car.

• Adamar, I had a black car without AC in Florida too. It really sucked. I made a point to borrow my boyfriend's car a lot.
• I'm sitting in on the student lecture of the male genital exam. E instructor just reminded the students not to use two fingers when doing a rectal exam. Eek. I hope no one has ever made that mistake.
• H's old 1990 Ranger didn't come with AC.  I was so happy the day we sold that car.

MP, can I come stay with you during the summer?  I hate the heat.
