Chit chat, anyone?

Re: Chit chat, anyone?

  • I don't know much about white wines, or sweet wines for that matter.  I know a sweeter red would be a Pinot Noir.  White Zinfandel's are really sweet (to me) blush.  I think a Riesling is a sweeter white.

Chardonnay is a drier white - but it's a popular wine so a lot of people serve it.

[QUOTE]I have no clue Loopy. I think they have both been white. We have a winery right down the road so I should go and try it out and do a tasting. I tend to drink fruitier alcoholic drinks and the wine I've tasted has just seemed bitter.

<div>I bet if you did this and told them you prefer fruitier drinks they could recommend some. I tend to drink frutier drinks myself and I've found wines I like. I will say white wine is not my favorite. </div>
  • I have yet to find a white wine that I like.  I'm a dry red girl.
  • i effing love wine.  I actually thought I might be KU while we were in Napa and I had a mild panic attack that I wouldn't be able to try all the wine.

  • Ok, so I will definitely go to the winery. Maybe FI and I can go this summer.

  • I do like Riesling but I can barely get a glass of Chardonnay down. I've stopped experimenting with the white wines and am sticking to red and bush wines.

Hey kids!  I'm about to head off to bed, but I wanted to drop in.
I have laryngitis and haven't been able to talk above a whisper today.  Awesome.  I don't know how that will work tomorrow when I'm in clinic.  If I can't talk, I can't work.  :/
  • Ha KJB - yeah - Napa is not the place to baby-moon.

Petal - some of the wineries near Cleveland have outdoor areas and live music sometimes so you can try wines, buy a cheese/fruit platter and sit outside and enjoy an evening.
  • Have you tried a Moscato, Petal? It's a very sweet, usually sparkling, dessert wine.  Trader Joes has one in a fancy looking bottle for like 7 dollars, called Villa Alena Moscato D'Asti
  • Loopy, that sounds awesome! There's a park here that hosts free concerts every Sunday over the summer. We walk there with a picnic and enjoy the show. It would be so much better if there were fruit platters and wine tasting.

Try an Alsace white, crisp but sweet.  Or a gewurztraminer.
  • Oh no, that sucks mica! I hope your voice improves overnight. Laryngitis is the pits.

  • Bummer Mica.  I hope you feel better tomorrow.
  • Sorry you're not feeling well, Mica.

  • Thanks everyone. I just copied everything down so I can remember what to try. You might make me a wino in time.

I actually feel fine.  Just my throat hurts and I can't talk.  But there's no fever or anything else.  It's annoying as eff.

Also, my parents came to visit today.  It's hard having whole conversations when the only way I can talk is to whisper.
  • White Zin used to be my favorite. I always had a bottle of it. Now my favorite is a local winery's Trutina blend. http://www.dunhamcellars.com/08Trutina

  • I've had that before Mica.  Where I felt absolutely fine, I just couldn't talk.  I usually showed good improvement the next day.
  • jI've always heard it pronounced - guh-vert-stra-mee-ner.  It's a German varietal I think.
  • I want to know a lot about wine just so I can have the knowledge, even though I will probably never be a regular wine drinker.

  • A friend of mine just posted on FB that her 2 day old daughter is "lactose and tolerant". I really want to correct it but I don't want to come off as a biiitch.

  • LOL, that made me giggle, C. You could maybe make a joke about it to seem less snarky. Bahah that is pretty funny though.

</div><div>At 2 days old.. where's her daughter getting lactose from?  I didn't think formula had it, and doesn't it take breastmilk a few days to come in usually?

</div><div>ETA: these are things I should probably learn LOL :)</div>
  • She was in the nicu because she was born with a cleft lip and palate and they gave her regular formula.

  • Got it.  That makes more sense then.
  • I got a fun red wine the other day, it was a rough day with my kids. It was called sweet biiitch. And it was very fruity. Almost like a Sangria. I wasnt impressed, as it's not what I was expecting. I bought it because the name of it was the exact mood I was in. But now that I know it's sweet, I have it for dessert. Long story, but you should try it if you can find it as it's sweet.
