Anyone else staying in tonight?

I probably will go and see if they still have it Anna. the fact that I saw it Wednesday and I'm still thinking about it means I need to purchase it. I can definately rearrange my office to make it fit, maybe not all 4 of the pieces, but a few for sure, I can store the rest in my parents basement or something. I love old furniture.

I REALLY want to get rid of our desk. But H wants to keep it. It just does not go with the rest of our office. Since he hasn't stepped foot in there since 2007, I don't know why I don't just get rid of it and get one I like. I've been looking for one I like at estate sales, but all the ones i like are like $300 or $400.

H is the complete opposite. He has to get nice stuff, even if that means it takes forever to get everything. Like I needed a nightstand last year and he practically refused to let me get one because I wanted to go to Target or Ikea. So I ended up not getting anything. I don't understand his logic.

I think he's finally loosening up now that we're in this craptastic, straight-outta-the-80s apartment and not our house. And living off of student loans helped to change his tune also.

A lot of our furniture is from Craigslist. My H made our coffee and end tables in the living room, which was really awesome. I love them.

I want a book case with glass doors on it. I found one I love at Crate & Barrell, but I refuse to spend $600 for a short bookcase.

Ah! C&B's prices are ridic. You have to wait for clearance and then usually it's out of stock or something.

There are plenty of furniture stores out there, and clearly many, many people buy furniture at other places. H and I choose to spend more on furniture because we want to get what we want, not just what is cheaper. Not that I can't find stuff I like in Ikea, but we just haven't really shopped there much, and found stuff that fits our style that we like in other stores. That's great that you find stuff you like there, or on Craigslist, but you're kinda making it out to seem that people are foolish to spend more than Ikea prices for furniture.</div>

I have wacked spending priorities. I'll spend $17 on a chicken but the idea of shelling out more than $35 on a coffee table is insane to me.

Plus my rent is too much to actually furnish or decorate my home properly.

ETA: Me personally. I don't care if someone else spend a million bucks on a gold plated coffee table with tarantula cages built in.

DNB, I've just never been a position to spend more on furniture, that's all. I've really never been able to afford more. And we are about 87 million years away from being able to buy a house so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Most of our furniture was handed down. We've never bought any big piece of furniture yet, but that's going to change soon. I'm sick to death of the stupid "entertainment center" in our den. It's H's from when he was a teenager, and it's just huge, ugly, stupid-looking. The other day, he finally asked if I wanted to look for another one, and I was psyched. I can't wait to get that thing out of this apartment.

My favorite place for furniture is World Market. We've gotten a few tables and stuff there. LOVE them. It's not cheap, but they are super well made and will last.

Loopy I've never looked at C&B. But I'm pretty sure it's like Williams & Sonoma in that it's way expensive for stuff you can get elsewhere cheaper. But I still love W&S, and will walk around there and drool and how much I would love to get for my kitchen.

We have all hand me down furniture except our bed we got with wedding money, and a new couch my mom bought us when I graduated college. A lot of it is IKEA. I looke at houses online today. There is a great short sale in the area we want, but we can't look at houses for another year. We need a larger savings buffer. But it was cute and not trashed as some houses are that go that way.

I did have hand me down furniture when I was in college, but I couldn't afford to move it across the country so I sold it and bought cheap ikea stuff when I moved here.

I love Crate and Barrel for kitchen stuff. We registered there and I love our plates and flatware and all of that.

I got a red chair from World Market. I thought, ooh, that would look so nice in the family room. Then I brought it home and it blends in perfectly with the wall. It's an...interesting look. Sweet chair, though.
