FI is a food snob and doesn't like to go to chains, so this is probably why I've never been to Red Robin or heard of Famouse Daves :)
  • I don't like chains either, but I live in the suburbs.  It's either eat at a chain or drive half an hour.

  • YAY LVB.  That sounds great.  Good Luck.  I hope the interview at least ends with an offer and they don't make you wait any longer.
  • Guys, do you really think this is it?? I mean, I'm the only candidate, I'm interviewing with people at corporate....

Ok, a little more clarification. *Not the real companies*.
Coca Cola hired "We're a communications firm". Communications firm is hiring me, and placing me in the Coca Cola plant to be a communications Specalist.

So I'm meeting with corporate Coca Cola. I haven't talked with them yet.

  • So did they say at this point you're the only candidate left?

If so, that's a great sign. Coca Cola company probably just wants to make sure you're not a wacko. :)

We live downtown, and Cleveland is quickly developing a foodie city reputation.  But we can't afford to eat at all the restaurants all the time!  So we have to drive to the 'burbs to get chain food.  So, unless you're loaded, living in a downtown of a major city doesn't always work in your favor either :(.

  • Yep, that definitely sounds like a sort of formality, LVB.  They would not be wasting Coca Cola co's execs time on someone they were meh about.

Yes, they did tell me that I'm the only candidate left!

I thought that was my third interview, that was in person. But then again, that guy worked for communication's firm, not Coke. Hopefully I won't be a big ole blabber mouth and can actually communicate effectively!!

    Aaagreed!
  • LVB - it's like having a personal shopper.  You trust them to do the leg work in finding something great - but still have the last say on whether you're going to wear the outfit or not.  I'm sure odds are they'll wear the outfit.  :)

I feel the same way living in DC. There are tons of great restaurants where I can't afford to eat, but it is a pain to find a chain. I have been known to plan whole weekends around a trip to Chick-fil-a to satisfy particularly strong fast food cravings.

Also,  I have never been to Red Robin. I see commercials all the time but I have never seen an actual Red Robin restaurant in real life.

LVB, good luck on your 4th interview!

Especially since it's just a 15-20 minutes conference call. If they were really worried about it, they would probably bring you in. :)
  • LVB, I think that sounds promising.

Birdie, I don't like chains.  But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Famous Dave's.  In fact, I thought I had found one up here the other day and we drove out to go to dinner.  I was SO excited.  OMG.  I could just taste the pulled pork and cornbread muffins.

Turns out, it's a Hooters that serves their BBQ sauce.  I was so utterly defeated.  We found a local place for BBQ the next night that wasn't bad, but it just wasn't the same.  A little too Carolina-vinegar to me.

I WANT FAMOUS DAVE'S AND I WANT IT NOW.  And I probably won't get it for a year.  Eff.

That's good news, LVB.  I like Stack's analogy, mostly because I like new clothes way too much.

  • Ok, so huh. I went ahead and emailed the HR person of Communications firm. On my third interview, she told me which questions I could direct at the guy and which ones I needed to direct to her. So emailed her and asked her a couple questions, if it would be ok to ask tomorrow. I got an out of office reply. Gone until the 3rd.

So I guess I'm done with her? Or maybe I won't hear anything until the 3rd. Arg.

  • I just found out the closest real one to us is in New Hampshire, a little over 40 miles away.

Maybe someday. . . but we have no reason to go to NH until the spring.

    Birdie - WHAT?

That's it.  I'll have to unfriend you now.

  • But Birdie, bbq is soooo good! And there are so many different kinds! Bbq is one of the reasons I enjoy football season so much.
  • How can you not like barbeque?!?

  • Sometimes I read the OP and then just go to the last page and then try to guess how you guys got from LVB being pissed to fast food.

    It's a fun game.

True fax: I was born in the city (ha... that's aggrandizing it a bit) where KFC started!

I think "baby onion that wants a certain food and wants it now" is a perfectly good reason to go to NH :)
  • That's not possible! It started in Corbin KY!
