  • PrettyGirlLost All those maxis are adorable!  I wish maxis looked good on me!  Too short lol
  • Haha although there won't be lobster we are having "lobster sliders" :)  The venue is in Cape Cod - ceremony on the lawn overlooking the water and tented reception.  So it definitely isn't overly formal although we are having a raw bar, passed hor d'oeuvres, top shelf open bar, band etc.

A lot of people have already started asking us "do we need to wear a jacket?  a tie?"  I really don't care what people wear but was more curious how others would interpret it.  I assume we will get a variety of outfits for guys from polo/khakis to suits and women in sundresses to cocktail dresses.  I've just been telling people that my fiance and groomsmen aren't wearing tuxes - they are wearing jacket/khakis/tie and the bridesmaids have dresses from jcrew.  The wedding isn't until September so I'm sure we'll get a lot more questions as it gets closer (we just sent out save the dates).

The main reason I'm asking the question is that I'm a little worried that everything is on grass.  I have it listed in a few places on our website "ceremony on the lawn" and "tented reception on the lawn" and plan to spread by word of mouth as best we can.  I don't want women to be wearing stilettos and then be sinking into the grass :/.  There is no floor in the tent except the dance floor so I'm not sure if that is clear enough?  I am planning on doing a flip flop basket as well so hopefully that will come in handy!  I just know that not everyone looks at wedding websites, especially the older generation and want to make sure everyone is comfortable.
Aw this sounds lovely, yummy, and fun :-)

  • If you've got a wedding website, you can have a FAQ page where you let people know that the reception will be on grass. That's usually enough for the savvy folks to avoid stilettos.

Your wedding sounds fun! I vote for word of mouth, but your flip flop basket sounds great, too.

Thanks ladies!  I've been lurking since even before we got engaged (oops) and am trying to follow etiquette in every way possible.  I've learned a lot far!

We're also having a bonfire on the beach after the wedding with s'mores and booze - definitely hoping it's going to be a fun time!
