What is the average cost of wedding flowers?

I'm going to spend under a $1,000 going through Costco for all flowers and our wedding party is 20+ people and we have 24 reception tables. Here's what I'm getting:

1 bridal bouquet

1 maid of honor bouquet

7 bridesmaids bouquets

15 boutonnieres

9 corsages

2 mother's tie bouquet's

1 toss bouquet

10 flower petals

2 centerpieces

200 stems of baby's breath-will place in 28" eiffel tower vase surrounded by candles

Total: $978.22 (including tax and shipping)

I'm getting married August 2014 in San Francisco (live her too).

Just under $800 for the following in Columbus, OH:

1-Bridal Bouquet

1-Groom Bout

1-MOH Bouquet

3-Bouts

2-Corsages

2-floral sprays for an arch

9-centerpieces of white tulips, white closed roses and pussy willow branches

Cost includes delivery and labor to set up the arch (I am providing the arch and fabric).

Ours is going to be about $1400 for flowers, but that included delivery and set up of them. We're reusing the aisle flowers/ceremony decorations as reception centerpieces as well.

3 groomsmen/best man bouts

2 large arrangements for the wine barrels up front at the ceremony which will be reused on the buffet table at the reception

Im from the NY/NJ area and so far I went to Crest Florist and was quoted 7000! I was shocked I have two other appointments this week so hopefully the are going to be more reasonable.

We are getting married in June and I just received my first proposal for $6400. This amount seems outrageous to me. I am looking for ways to scale back, but don't know if I am a DIY bride.

I haven't gone to get flower quotes yet, but a friend told me about a trick. Leave the bouquets and boutonnieres up to the florists, but get your reception centerpieces from a wholesale floral dealer (Sam's club or fiftyflowers.com). You can get cheaper vases ($12 a piece or cheaper from saveoncrafts.com). I am having tall willow branches in my centerpieces and blue hydrangeas surrounding the branches. Hydrangeas are very cheap, and because of their shape, you don't need many for an impressive centerpiece. Bam...30 minutes, and I will have made 20 centerpieces.... just add water.

$8k does sound pretty monstrous to me- someone else made a post about being quoted $4k and that seemed bad enough! I went in hoping to keep my budget down to $500 with bare bones (no decorations, just bouquets and boutonnieres) with relatively cheap flowers (sunflowers- I figured they're big, therefore I don't need as many). If I went with decorations and more expensive flowers, I'd imagine the average money spent would be around $2k around here.

With that said, I'm going to make my own bouquet paper flowers with about $50 and a few hours of my time. Flowers just aren't at the top of my list for importance.

It is going to cost me $1,000 for just my reception flowers (including vases, hydrangeas, and willow branches)... and that's wholesale for 20 tables. I go in this week for flower quotes for the ceremony and have mastered the art of breathing into a paper bag. I live in Buffalo, New York.

In order to keep your flowers from getting "frumpy" over night... 1st things first, keep them away from humidity or anything too dry. You can call any florist and they are usually nice enough to give some tips for preserving flowers the night before the wedding and before the wedding day of.

If you have an extra fridge, its always a good idea to keep them in there, just like your florist would do

Late reply, but I just met with a florist at the Flower Market in Fort Worth and was quoted $1700 for everything...including ~50 various centerpieces for reception + labor and delivery. Doesn't get any better than that.

I'm a retired florist, but still do weddings for friends and family. DIY is the way to go if you have the time. Price really does depend on the variety and number of flowers you want. YouTube has many, many great tutorials on wiring flowers and construction of bouquets, corsages, bouts, and the like. It is time consuming, but not difficult. I order my flowers online from Whole Blossoms, Costco (roses), and a few from our local grocery store florist, if needed. Figure approx $100-150 per flower variety. After they arrive over night delivery, then trim the ends and put them in buckets with water, place in a cool, dark room before and after making your arrangements. Wrap the ends of bouts and corsages with a wet paper towel. I have the flowers and greenery arrive three days before the event, clean and wire the next day and put them together the day before. This gives the flowers time to open and makes arranging go smoothly (your helpers aren't standing around waiting for flowers to be cleaned and ready). For the current wedding I am doing 8 bouquets, 16 bouts, 8 corsages, 3 extra large table arrangements, and a hair piece for $900 and figure about 9 hours from cleaning and wiring to finished product (with a helper). This wedding is on the high end since some of the the flower varieties are expensive. I've done weddings with simpler tastes for under $500. I hope this helps. :0) Best wishes on your special day!

We just got our proposal back (we live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area) and for my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids, 10 boutonnieres, 6 corsages, and flower girl petals/petals for decoration it came out to $589.00 (with taxes) My wedding is in 2014 :-)

After reading some of these quotes I think I'm gonna go hug my florist now!

This is exactly what my plan is! I'm buying flowers wholesale and doing all the centerpieces. I'm getting aisle bows from Hobby Lobby (I was shocked when my FSIL told me what she was charged for aisle bows!) And then getting bouquets, corsages, bouts, flower girl item (we haven't decided what yet, my future niece will only be 2 at the time) and 2 ceremony arrangements. However I haven't found a florist yet so I have no idea what this is going to save/or not save me.

Anyone who has spent $500 or less on flowers, how did you do it? All I need is my bouquet, 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 2 corsages, 7 boutonnieres, flower petals, a few (3-5) bouquets for vases for decor, and a smaller bouquet for me to toss.

I've heard Kroger is a good place to look, but don't know anyone who personally has used them.

We are on a tight budget and can't afford a ton for flowers.

I am living in Brooklyn, NY and planning a wedding in Great Neck, LI. Went to my first florist appointment last night and was quoted $4800 for:

1 bridal bouquet

6 bridesmaid bouquets

6 bout's for the groosmen and my fiance

3 bouts for the men in the party (no corsages)

A chuppah made from fabric draping on top with a simple votive of ivory roses and flowers tying the fabric to the poles on the sides (we didnt want crazy flowers but wow this looked beautiful with the simple classic touches of light flowers)

LED candles and petals lining the pews and isle to the chuppah

13 tables: 7 high and 6 low medium round centerpieces with roses and hydrangeas

Small vase of callalillies on our escort table

so in all I think we are getting what we are paying for (not to mention that I spoke to my matron of honor's sister in law who used the same florist and did a gorgeous job... the florist was also a high recommendation from my temple).

I am going to three more places to get a quote and compare but honestly, I think flowers are contingent upon location of the venue and the areas which we live but good luck to all happy planning!

Quote is so low, because a friend used to work at the place and the FloraHolland, the largest trading place for flowers in the world, is close to where we live so the wholesale and transport costs are quite low.

Just got quoted from our florist yesterday, and I was so relieved! Bridal bouquet (roses, stargazer lillies, blue hydrangea), 2 BM bouquets, toss bouquet, 8 bouts, 4 corsages, 1 large alter arrangement, 4 pew markers, flower girl petals and basket, and 13 centerpieces w/ mirrors, vases, and votives for about $800. They are THE place to go in the area (SW VA) and I'm super excited! ETA- also includes delivery and set up.

Consider Whole Foods for flowers if you live near one. Their flower prices are great. My sister used them for her wedding. She got two large altar flower arrangements, her bouquet, her toss bouquet, five BM bouquets, probably 16 or so bouts (all orchids) and succulents for cake decorations for about $750. The flowers were higher end flowers too - her bouquet had succulents, roses, and orchids. She had branches with candles as her centerpieces so she didn't do flower center pieces.

I'm getting married in the LA area. I thought about DIYing but FI and my mother convinced me it was worth just getting a florist to do the bouquets and the bouts. Fine, I can cut the cost down if I do the centerpieces myself. Turns out the florist I found was much cheaper than I expected and she could do the centerpieces for not too much more than what I would spend DIYing it, with less stress and having it set up before we get there. I don't think this is the case for most people though, I just got lucky. Many of the florists I called before this one quoted me uber-high prices.

The rates I got:

Bridal bouquet = $80

Bridesmaids bouquet = $30 (have 3 BMs so that $90 in all)

Bouts = $15 (3 GM and the groom so $60 in all)

Centerpieces = $50 per table (5 tables so $250)

Delivery = $25

Total estimate = $505

I'm having a small wedding and a small bridal party though which of course means less centerpieces and bouquets and bouts. The parents on both sides expressed their disdain of corsages so we're skipping that.
