I was my best friends maid of honor this year. At the time we fitted for dresses I had hot pink hair. By time we were taking the dresses home my hair was jade. And honestly it didn't take away from the traditional style of the wedding. So if you love her just let her be her :)

    Your hair looks fantastic!

Holy shit, that is GORGEOUS. I could never get my hair that bright when it was green!
  • I can't believe the bride didn't make that other girl cover her tan lines! The pictures are ruined by them! RUINED!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I'm getting married in a month and my best friend just dyed her hair pink.  I asked her how long she was planning on keeping it because I didn't want pink hair in my wedding pics. She completely understood and didn't think I was a bitch or bridezilla. Bottom lining it, it is your special day and it doesn't suggest you love your friend any less for not wanting pink hair in pics. The alternative I told her was to pull her hair back in a bun so it did not stick out as much.  At the end of the day, she can dye it for one day and change it back the next day, it is really not that serious.  I would even be willing to pay for her to change her hair color so it is not an added expense for her.  Good luck.

  • Your wedding day is the day you commit to sharing your life with another person, not your day to play director of a photo shoot.

Oh, shit, really? Well, this changes everything.

  • If a friend tried to dictate the color of my hair for her wedding, she would no longer be my friend.  I also wouldn't dream of dictating my friends hair for mine.  If one of my girls wants to dye her hair rainbow the day before my wedding, I think that's awesome.  I love my friends for who they are and want them next to me because they are so meaningful in my life that I can't imagine getting married without them.  I don't only love them conditionally for their hair color.

I wish I could just shake you and make you understand HOW.WRONG.YOU.ARE. Just because it's your wedding day doesn't give you carte blanche to be a complete overbearing monster. It is HER HAIR. ON HER HEAD. ON HER BODY. Chances are she spent some major time on that hair and you're all nonchalant "Oh, she can just dye it for a day and dye it back!" No. No. Noooooooo. Infuriating. "But I'm willing to pay for it!" Oh, so you're going to pay for the hair damage, because there's going to be hair damage and you're going to pay for the possible multiple trips to the salon to make sure that the pink is covered and doesn't come through the new color you've so lovingly chosen? Sure you will, because it's YOUR day. Pfft. You're ridic.

  • Also, this post is making me wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't wake up in the morning and decide what color I'd like my hair to be, as if it's the same thing as picking out what I'm wearing that day. Because these SS makes me think that this is the way it is for a lot of people.

  • I had this very same issue, and I do believe the bride should dictate - to a degree of course. It is YOUR day, not theirs. My bridesmaid had blue hair (my wedding is in December) and I simply asked what colour it would be for the wedding. She said either red (more auburn really) or brown. And I just simply asked if she wouldn't mind not being blue for the wedding. Since I was polite about it, she was completely okay with it. She didn't get offended or anything, just said she like changing her hair. It is currently platinum blonde so I can handle that.
Just ask her nicely if she wouldn't mind doing temporary dye for the wedding to a more neutral colour. If she loves you - and she does if she's in your wedding - she shouldn't fight you on it:)

I think it's a symptom of Snowflake-itis. It doesn't matter what others think, it only matters what I want.

  • @BrandNewJ‌ I think so too.

Unless noobs all of a sudden can't see posts but I'm guessing that is highly unlikely.

Stop. The. Madness. You mean all I have to do is be nice and you won't take offense to anything I say? Even if you should?

I think that you should never post advice on this board ever again. I mean, you seem like a nice girl, but you gave the worst advice ever on having someone change their hair. Please and thank you. Have a great day!

Bless your heart, you can't read can you? That's a damn shame.

If you loved her, really loved her, and you do if she's in your wedding, you wouldn't care if she shaved her head bald.
  • If one of my friends asked me to change my hair color to something more natural for their wedding, I would absolutely do it.

Then I would invite them to be in my own wedding and ask that they please dye their hair literally the most heinous, unnatural color I could possibly think of.  It's hard to think of a color that would be universally unflattering, but I would find it.  How could they say no, I did it for them after all!

I really hope some of these brides' friends take this approach.
Muahaha. The evil in me likes this idea very much.

Riddle me this, @bellemanuel‌ - what if your bridesmaid said she planned on keeping HER hair blue for "YOUR day"? What would you do then?
