I got use to it because my parents lived in Japan for a while.
St thomas is an hour ahead of the east coast. We celebrate when we hit midnight, then again when the ball in Times Square drops.. Then when it hits Chicago, Vegas, LA, etc. It's such a melting pot we feel the need to celebrate every hour it becomes midnight in the states..
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
KJB, you poor thing, will you have to pick up your H from work tonight too? Sometimes men are so thoughtless. H strands himself in all sorts of random places requiring me to rescue him on a regular basis.
H is waiting for the Notre Dame game to start and I just made a big pot of coffee and am attempting to finish my last "real" book before 2011 starts and I read all books on my nook from then on. Yay!
I envy you people who don't fall asleep when you read. I wish I could do 111 books in 2011 - but there's no chance of that.
::throws rocks at mica's boss::
I have 96 pages left in my Dexter book. I'm relatively sure if I keep drinking coffee and sit in an uncomfortable position I can finish in an hour or so. Then it's on to "the giver" so TR won't disown me lol
Morning! Oliver just made cinnamon rolls (from a can) and coffee.
The party last night was what I expected. Completely unplanned and disorganized. We just showed up at a bowling alley with 20+ people with no reserved lanes. My friend said, "Oh, I called to reserve lanes, but they said it would be $100 for 2 lanes for an hour." And? Have a party somewhere else? Anyway, we each had 2 beers and 2 games of bowling and it was fun. I was dead tired though, so I did not join the after party. I went to bed at 12:30. Thankfully I slept in this morning so hopefully I won't be passed out tonight by the ball drop. We're going out tonight and I'm excited about it.
Is it bad that I think a spontaneous hailstorm that pelts your boss with ice would be awesome? I'd feel like I control the weather.
Disclaimer: I do not, in fact, control the weather. If mica's boss becomes a target of a spontaneous hailstorm, I'm considering it karma.
H and I will commence the alcohol consumption at about 8 tonight. We are going to his best friend's house to play board games and play with the baby. We aren't big on going out and we don't have to have a dd if we are at their house, we have our own room :-)
I love that H and I can just stumble our drunk asses two building down the street tonight. Though I have so much food to bring over, I might actually drive over there
Mery, 2 lanes for an hour for $100??? That seems crazy! H is a big bowler, depending on when you go it ranges from about $25 - $35 an hour per lane.
Bowling shouldn't be so expensive!
KJB, I want to make friends here in our new neighborhood so we can walk home from fun nights! I think that's the only thing I miss about living in an apartment - there was a sense of community that was really nice. :-(
We still haven't made set plans for tonight since we're traveling tomorrow morning. I'm guessing dinner at whatever restaurant will take us? But there will be drinking involved. On my end, at least.
LDY, bowling in California can be super expensive. We do later-night bowling so that we get discounts, but during peak hours on weekends, it can be $67/lane/hour. One reason I love visiting H's family in the south is the (comparatively) cheap bowling.
Dang, I couldn't imagine spending that much on bowling.
We are going bowling tonight, but thankfully everything is paid for except our shoes. And H doesn't even like to bowl that much but he is going anyway. I love to bowl and wish we did it more often.
Holy crap!!! That's so expensive. I just can't imagine that. We bowl all the time - and H is on the same league team as the owner so our hours are often discounted or free - I can't imagine that. I bet if we were ever given the opportunity to move there H would probably veto it for that reason lol.
Where in the south does his family live?
Haha amoro, when you said that, all I could think of was when that happens during wii bowling lol. All of the miis in the background jump and spin around. Love it. I've never done that in real bowling but it happens routinely on the wii.
I'm only a good bowler when I'm drunk
There is one 4 lane bowling alley on island. It's run by some Christian ministry and they don't allow alcohol. Bowling and beer go hand in hand IMO.
We always go when we are in the states. I have no idea how much we even pay, it doesn't matter to us since it's a once a year thing.

Happy trip, Andy!

Thanks for throwing the rock. I hope he feels a sharp (but temporary) pain for the pain he's causing me.

(I am now anticipating a spontaneous hail storm or something to happen so that boss is pelted and I can accuse LDY of controlling the weather.)

Salt wants it to be 2011 posts long by midnight, so I think we need to get to posting.
